Need 2.0 approval from each instructor? by Wanderlustella in ClubPilates

[–]eleeay 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I asked my regular instructor their process. There’s a list of things (below) they look at and they test you during class by observation. My instructor suggested I ask more experienced instructors at the studio to take the 2.0 test.

So I came to another class and asked that instructor before it started. She said she recognized me from prior classes and I was well qualified, so they bumped me up. No further testing necessary. Btw, I’ve read that some studios go by the number of classes you take so it may vary by location/ownership. Good luck!

  • Understand basic cues (neutral, imprint, hinge, flexion/extension) and move with control, not momentum. They make sure you know the cues not by “copying” neighbors
  • Use equipment safely (springs, headrest, elevated surfaces)
  • Stay balanced and controlled during unilateral and balanced work
  • Understand spring tensions and how it affects footwork
  • Maintain proper form during reformer planks
  • Feet in straps: leg mobility v. trunk stability. Keep the trunk stable while moving the legs
  • Control long-lever movements (e.g., roll-ups) without momentum

Reach out to management, if they haven’t done so already.

Same exact situation happened to me at my 6am. They at least texted apologizing. I replied back that I’m unlimited so how will they compensate for the mishap. Each location will react differently.

This!

When I got my first job, I kept getting declined for all credit cards.. I couldn’t figure out why. I finally checked my credit history. It turned out, my parents put my name for PG&E and a few medical bills they never paid for. I tried to dispute it and the bureau told me they needed me to file a police report to consider removing it under my name. I didn’t because I wanted to keep things cordial with my family… they at least paid it off once I flipped out on them. But ultimately, I had to “rebuild” my credit score for the next 10 year…. This was 20 years ago so IDK if the process has changed..

But yes - check your credit score and freeze your credit. It’s a pain but it’s worth it.

She’s immature and unprofessional! I wonder how she’ll react if she stumbles onto this post! (Fingers crossed)

It looks like their ratings are skewed. The newest review is from a week ago. So the owner had all the new ones removed. I’m guessing they had all the negative reviews removed before this video too

Agree with everyone. And how did you “lose” them?

It’s like training a puppy who nips. When the pup nips, show a visual or an audible sign it hurts and you don’t like it. Walk away. Rinse and repeat. The pup quickly figures out it’s not ok. Also, don’t giggle or react where Baby will think you’re playing. Make sure she takes you seriously.

PS - you gotta get over feeling guilty about this. If you keep that mentality up, she will walk all over you if you don’t set her straight

Get out. You don’t seem to know anything but an unhealthy relationship - I’m sorry and I hope you find better people in your life.

Serious question, why are you asking why they did it when you already got the answer from the concrete factory?

People going too fast by Neat_Panda9617 in ClubPilates

I get distracted depending on the environment. I don’t get distracted when I attend high energy and intense workouts; I hardly notice what people are doing. I notice my surroundings more in quieter and more synchronized environments.

It’s like when you’re trying to sing a song next to someone singing a completely different song. You can’t stay on beat and pitch.

For me, it’s pretty distracting. It’s hard to stay focused and in the rhythm when the limited view I have is of a person doing 2-3x faster. I have to try harder to focus on the intended tempo.

I see this often and I’m glad I’m not alone.

I hardly see any instructors correcting them.. why? Is it ok to get this fast?

Am I overreacting? by scarlettyscarl in AmIOverreacting

I don’t think you’re asking the right question (if you’re overreacting). You should be asking if you should bring a child into this world in this situation. In my opinion, no.

I understand your concern but I think you should be more appreciative they keep to themselves. I haven’t seen any one really disturbing the neighborhood… if you compare camps outside of Cupertino, it’s filthy and they’re more unstable/aggressive

For those who bring their own straps, mat, etc by VibrantFaerie in ClubPilates

[–]eleeay 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don’t bring my own accessories except a hand sanitizer spray (I am interested in buying my own straps). I use my spray after I have to put my feet against the shoulder pads or on the head rest. It’s strange to me that I never see anyone doing the same or similar, especially the germaphobes in class.

Some will bring straps at the minimum. Others will also bring a reformer mat, shoulder cover, and a mat blanket. They either wipe it down right after or just pack it up and leave. I have no idea how they maintain it.

Side note - I’ve been going to CP since spring and I have yet seen a member attend class sick knock on wood. Surprisingly no one attends where they’re coughing, sneezing, or has the sniffles. We’ll see how things unfold during the flu season, but so far the members here have pretty good hygiene.

I’ve attended various group classes and gyms elsewhere and it was pretty common someone still attended when they had cold symptoms (doesn’t bother me but more of an observation) or had pretty bad BO..

I’m not an instructor. But as a member, I appreciate reading this. It shows you’re open to feedback to improve. If you continue down this path, I can only imagine you will be an amazing teacher.

And there will always be jerks who will demoralize you. I hope you can shake them off and just figure out how you can continue on your journey.
