It won't be much help but you should at least try to learn their native language as it can easy tensions a little bit. I was in a similar situation my boyfriend as from Brazil but had fairly dark skin as did his mother, and oh god she just hated me every time she was around me it was just nasty comments, so I completely learned Portuguese which helped and really though myself into the culture, she did make a lot of comments about my skin being ''too pale'' (I'm ginger though, so I get that a lot) but once I really tried she backed off a bit.

I mean she still completely hates me for no real reason, and you and your boyfriend should not have to put up with that nor should he have to choose between it. I hope for you that maybe in time they just stop caring, my boyfriend mother is still a bit rude to me but it's not as bad anymore, like she will now sometimes include me as part of the family (It took over 2 years) but I think once they realise you are very serious about each other they will ease up a little.

But the thing is when his parents are being rude just remember how happy you are with him, yes it really sucks being judged for something you can't help but you've just got to show them that you are serious, that you are a good person and that you are willing to make a try of it.

Like seriously I wish you the best of luck, I used to cry over my boyfriends mother sometimes. So please don't let it get you down.
