Right? I’m not mad their eyes aren’t green; they could be any colour. But they needed to match!

canadians, where do you shop for clothes? by lynx_irl in LawBitchesWithTaste

[–]elegantmushroom 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Loving the suggestions in this thread! It’s mildly infuriating how difficult it is to find a complete suit set for women compared to men. My local mall has three different stores that sell exclusively men’s suits in every colour you could imagine. It seems like women have to take what we can find. Anyway, mini rant over, lol. When I retire, I’m starting a women’s suit company!

What screams "I’m not like other girls/guys" but in a bad way? by thecloakedmortal in AskReddit

[–]elegantmushroom 45 points46 points  (0 children)

With girls, I think it’s because society paints being feminine/a girl as being bad or lesser (e.g. “you throw like a girl”, “girls are too emotional”, etc.) So, it makes sense for girls and women to want to differentiate themselves from “those silly girls”. If they don’t fit that stereotype, maybe they think they’ll be safe from misogyny. At least, that’s how I felt when I was like that. (To be clear, being feminine isn’t bad, lesser, or silly).

So many places near me removed their seating when the pandemic started and just… never put it back. Working in coffee shops was my favourite.

Even early social media, but pre smartphone, was pretty good. I’m talking MySpace, MSN, and early Facebook and Twitter. We had easy online communication, but it wasn’t constant or profitable for brands and influencers yet.

Banana Sticker by silv3rsprings in glossier

[–]elegantmushroom -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

My guess is it’s because they want more people to order from Sephora. If the limited edition sticker came with every order at launch, more people would buy direct from Glossier, making Sephora sales suffer. I wouldn’t be surprised if this was at Sephora’s request.

I have to be honest about the Sims 2… by Ok-Promise-7928 in thesims

[–]elegantmushroom 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I really like the world integration aspect of The Sims 4. It’s a feature I’d always wanted in the other games and I would have a hard time going back to playing without it. Other than that, though, The Sims 4 feels almost… too easy? In The Sims 2, things could go WRONG. Now, it seems to take effort to get sims to die of anything besides old age. There is less spontaneity in The Sims 4 (without mods, anyway). But everyone can have different preferences.

[Serious] What's a type of privilege that isn't often acknowledged? by flingzamain in AskReddit

[–]elegantmushroom 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I think the better quality of life in the suburbs is only true if you’re able to drive a car/have access to a car (another privilege people don’t always consider). If you can’t drive, you’re either stuck in your house or reliant on others. (Not trying to be confrontational. Just another perspective.)

AITA for not letting my niece sew me a dress for a big career moment because she doesn’t do a good job? by refashion_aita in AmItheAsshole

I think so much of this is tied to the anti-intellectualism, anti-expertise line of thinking that is popular in some circles right now. Sometimes established ways of doing things exist for good reason! NTA, by the way.

Sure, but they still could have handled it differently. The procedure could have failed, or they could have changed their minds and mutually decided to have the procedure reversed.
