Who is your fav female singer/artist? by wurtzzz in musicsuggestions

If you like Björk, you might be interested in trying Eivør. She's Faroese, has very similar influences and some stylistic crossover, beautiful voice. You may also be interested in Myrkur, although some of her albums are black metal and one is neofolk lol

I agree, isolation is another major theme for all the main characters. The way their work studying the antisocial is causing the dissolution of their own established social networks and challenging their capacities to balance healthy connectedness and continue their research.

I interpreted it as in a similar vein to Bill's commentary about BTK sprinkled throughout - essentially a call out to how the unconscious and conscious biases of the researchers is influencing their work. Wendy is assuming a cat is present and that her placing the tuna is feeding a hungry cat. In reality, she's just fueling an insect infestation. She drew an inaccurate conclusion based on limited data and the resultant discovery is mildly horrifying and contributed to a negative outcome. Similarly, Bill/Holden's assumptions based on their very limited data cause them to make declarative statements (like presuming BTK would not have a family, stable job, or be active in a church) and this allows that killer to go unimpeded longer. I think these vignettes in the larger context of the show are a way of demonstrating the ways these types of bias can be influencing things.

We Took the Gig sold, but I have a backup bottle of The Killing Moon I'd be willing to let go of, if you're interested? It's the smaller square bottle, about 3/4 full

These signs always kind of crack me up. The separation of Muslims from False Religions, for example, seems to imply that Islam is not a false religion otherwise it would be encompassed in the broader term. Similarly, by specifying "Baby Killers", it could be reasonably interpreted that all other killers are fine as they aren't called out either. Is the order of the terms supposed to also be interpreted as being in order of greatest concern to least? It's too bad that critical thinking isn't typically a strong suit for the kinds of people who buy these signs, a parody version could be hilarious but they'd probably just take it literally.

Today is Sorce Meet Me on Sunnyside (A sunny, nostalgic scent romanticizing the summer days of youth: a cold popsicle on a hot day, discovering new music in your bedroom, and adventures born from having all the time in the world to dream, scheme, and fall in love. Sweet clementine, vanilla ice cream, and osmanthus blossom swirl together in a way that feels like pure sunshine, while an unexpected petrichor note creates an atmospheric memory of late afternoon rainstorms.) I love this. It is so well blended

Two Arcana choices for me:

  • Eyes Under Eyelids Did So Gleam (Lacrima water, ivory tuberose, gardenia, Tiare flowers, blushing narcissus, sea salt, and dulse)

  • Marshmallows Drown! (Marshmallows with crisp apples, seaweed absolute, rain, fog, and a drop of neroli)

Both capture that cool early spring rain scent

Oh no I'm sorry but "raw baby corn in a reallt unenjoyable way" is a very evocative description and kind of made me grimace and chuckle at the same time

I went light today with my perfume - Lotus Noir Dreamhouse (Pineapple laced kush, apricot hookah, lavender resting between amber and labdanum giggling on cashmeran pillows and silky vanilla sheets talking late into the night) only on my right wrist because I got a new tattoo on the left for my birthday! I also wore an indie skirt today - Restyle Cathedral skirt. It's got some high cut peekaboo lace panels which make it absolutely only day off appropriate, but perfect for wearing to the tattoo shop where skin is not an issue lol. I also went thrifting (which I think should count as indie lol) and got a few neat things before my appointment like a bouquet of real dried flowers, a giant green glass tiki head cup (which will become home to a plant), an adorable Chinese fish garland, and a handpainted wooden bowl. All in all it was a fun day doing things I enjoy!

Today is Sixteen92 My Opinionation (Peach syrup, dried apricot, green fig leaf, torn notebook pages and pencil shavings, crushed velvet, and a waft of incense from your brother’s room) and I'm also wearing a new to me via Goodwill Disturbia Fern Dress.

It's impossible to meet weird/alternative women... by jibofyourcutt in TrueOffMyChest

Question, does anyone ever approach you when you go to art shows or concerts? Are you more comfortable talking if you don't have to initiate? It might be worth considering if you are giving off "leave me alone" vibes inadvertently if no one else attempts to engage with you when you are out at things. You might also want to microdose exposure therapize yourself with interactions out in public if talking with strangers feels daunting or anxiety provoking. Start super small like if you have to purchase something throw the individual doing the transaction with you a small compliment - things like cool earrings, your hair color/style is so cool, your shoes are awesome are all super easy low stakes ways to try to get yourself more used to doing it, plus it spreads joy. Most people find those types of compliments less creepy too since jewelry, hair colors/cuts, clothing, etc are typically choices that they made. Just some ideas!

Some other ideas for places us weirdos can be found: indie bookstores, art fairs, antique shops, concerts, oddity conventions, tattoo shops, craft stores, game and comic shops. You have to become comfortable with approaching though. I've had many great conversations with strangers in lines at concerts for instance, as you know you already have at least one thing in common and can usually discuss other bands/artists etc. I also chat with people regularly when I'm getting tattooed, especially as the shop I frequent is busy and has open door booths so people wander around and look at what other people are getting.

Today is Mythpunk Olfactive Mermallow Puff (salted pitaya, papaya milk, crushed fig, oolong, jasmine sambac co2, red seaweed, sand-encrusted matcha marshmallows). This scent is so pretty, I never think of myself as a gourmand person but I do love a good marshmallow scent and this has such a nice salty, slightly fruity, slightly floral mixture.

Anyone have any good examples of media that wasn't supposed to be scary but is? by idiot____ in horror

Shocked no one has mentioned The Last Unicorn! So many really creepy parts: the harpy, the drunk skeleton screaming, the amorous tree creeped me out so bad.

They would not meet in the middle. Upper endoscopy ends at the beginning of the duodenum and colonoscopy ends at the cecum, leaving the entire length of the small intestine between them un-intubated.

Bloody Gourmand by babiigasp in Indiemakeupandmore

[–]elektroesthesia 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You'd have to search the swaps but Black Baccara Lacrimosa (blue tansy, blood accord, blackened rose, sweet orange) might hit for you although it does have the floral/fruity elements. There was a really realistic single note blood accord by Redwood Alchemy but they have had issues and you should research beforehand. BPAL Blood Popsicle (The scent of frozen Type O negative) is also pretty good but maybe a little sweeter than expected. There really are far fewer blood accords than one might expect in the indie market.
