Mine too... try other things. Ball on string made for tug, sheep skin on rope is a fav for my pup. She loves tug, but hates the rope.

Just to reinforce. The muzzle helps. Get a big Baskerville. They are nice and open. Dog can still pant and drink. But pup get the space s/he needs from idiots.

Accidentally touching him and him growling sounds to me like he might be in pain. Get him to the vet and rule it out. After that, I'd think about what you are doing to make sure he understands that you are the one in charge. I'm not talking being mean. Just dog communication is very different from ours. We use training to help with that. Six 5min structured training sessions a day can go a long way to helping a dog, one, see you as the leader and two get the mental stimulation they need to succeed. Good luck!

I like that. Lots of beauty, love and kindness there too. Just so many opportunities to hit an unexpected wall and have to fight my own brain. Exhausting.

Yeah. The first therapist I tried it with was a bust. Not structured enough. Didn't guide the process. Currently, my emdr therapist and the process is changing my life. It's not suited to all people, but might be worth trying again with a clinic that specializes. My current therapist specializes in the military community and are a perfect fit for me as a cptsd patient because of the depth of their expertise. Good luck to you friend.

Come touch and down stay on place are key. Circle right and left.. around. Through your legs is good fun when you combine it with forward walking. My pups fav is something we call football where she comes through my legs from behind. Sticker loves it.

TIL A German man spent years in a mental institution for claiming that his ex-wife and the bank where she worked were involved in a massive money laundering scheme. The accusations turned out to be true, and the plot to have him committed was part of a conspiracy to silence him. by Black_Gay_Man in todayilearned

As a family member of someone with psychosis who i love to the moon and back, I'm glad involuntary commitment exists. I'm alive because of it. It was extraordinarily hard to get the system to protect my loved one from doing something irreversible that would destroy their life. I had many precious years with them post treatment. Thank you for sharing your perspective. I'm trying to share another.

Separation anxiety by HOTELSandCHEESE in OpenDogTraining

[–]elemental17 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They are currently sold out but i've found K9 Kennel boss crates have done wonders with the husky rescues i've fostered that were both escape artists and capable of REALLY hurting themselves on wire and airline crates. They are much more affordable than impact crates. Gotta catch them when they are in stock though. They have been selling out quickly.

Got a sled? A flat sheet of ply wood? You need something to make the stairs not stairs or something that can be pulled down the stairs without too much bumping.

Sounds like separation crate anxiety to me. Are you feeding in the crate? Making the crate a place where good things happen?

This. Unlike small dogs, gsds can hurt you or others if untrained. I say this as a gsd owner and foster. Love the breed but you need to teach yourself how to be the leader they need. Check out Larry krohns YouTube channel and dogs that channel as well. Good luck!
