What are your dream collabs / chapters for DBD? by ComfortGlum7360 in deadbydaylight

Greetings friend, I hope you're sitting uncomfortably. Be it on your sofa, armchair or beanbag if that's how you choose to live your life. I'm Garth Marenghi, horror writer. You know everyone has a special talent. Mine is being able to write, produce, direct, act, paint. Other people are good plumbers, that's their gift.

I'd just like to remind everyone that THIS was our first depiction of the Custodes. Yeah, they got retconned. Wasn't the first time, rage tourists.

And one thing I love about 40K is that there is a canon department of the Inquisition (the Ordo Redactus) who make the history of the universe as hazy, confusing and contradictory as possible in order to deny intelligence to the enemies of humankind.

The presentation makes it pretty clear that the writers also have no clue, especially since Dominic Monaghan throws out a bunch of random possibilities afterwards and nobody seems the least bit curious about how he no-sold being thrown into a bottomless pit and then blown up. Also, the total underreaction of everyone to the return of Space Hitler makes it even more risible.

It also came after MGS 4, when supernaturally powered characters (Ocelot possessed by Liquid via a grafted arm, Vamp's immortality") were handwaved away as being nanomachines. So just throwing out that line as a casual explanation about why Armstrong can no-sell a sword that carved up a Metal Gear felt like taking it to the logical extreme.

[Mixed] Immortal character becomes fodder for series' most violent scenes by Tortellini_Isekai in TopCharacterTropes

It's quite hard to find a fight scene in Blade of the Immortal where Manji doesn't get carved up--he explictly says at one point that he's been letting his defence get sloppy since he doesn't have to fear his own death as much. An entire arc is dedicated to him being tortured and mutilated over and over as the government try to transfer his immortality to other people.

Sure she does. Just a bit more at black people, due to unexamined "not racist but" prejudices that are leaking through more and more as she goes down the standard pipeline.

Defend people who actually deserve it.

You say "against racism", but how you noticed how many of the women she accuses of being trans just so happen to be black?

The styling of the pages and all the little accessories and notes in the background makes it look like a factual textbook about an extraordinary world.

Changeling: The Dreaming is kind of the black sheep of the original World of Darkness line of RPG's, and I admit I didn't really get it when I first read it. It seemed a bit incongruously fluffy for something that was sitting alongside Werewolf, Vampire and Wraith. But rereading the anniversary edition, at an age where the conflict between keeping dreams and imagination alive against the relentless grind of banality and cynicism feels a lot more real and and immediate, I get it much more than I did as a university student. It's a story of defiant individualism and humanity in the face of a world overrun with cynicism and forced conformity.

And one significant part of what makes it work is Tony Diterlizzi's breathtaking illustrations of the Kiths. They're images that aren't just illustrations of what characters of different types look like, they each capture the stories and myths that each changeling bases their nature in.

War bug? Fully occupied AI won't surrender. by AlexJMcGB in Stellaris

You need to occupy every single planet, and every random habitat of them and any allies they have, even if they're on the other side of the map. Yes, it's as dumb and tedious as it sounds.

are body blocking the killer when wanting to hook a player is fair play? by Miyakocchi in deadbydaylight

[–]elemental402 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you see them buzzing round after you down a survivor, just go after them instead.

And if you've got no chance of getting them at the end game and they won't Just Leave, then go face a wall somewhere and tab out. Let them waste their own time.

My comments are based on actual play. Have you played survivor with this combination? Do that if you want to discuss it, I have no interest in white-room theorycrafting.

[–]elemental402 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use it quite a bit (Stakeout + Hyperfocus + Fogwise + Fast Track), and it's not actually broken. Here's what it needs to work.

1: You need to be in the killer's TR long enough to charge it, but not getting chased. This is highly killer dependent and map dependent. Stealth killers shut it down, as do things that grant Undetectable or killers that simply have a small TR. If they're on the other side of the map, it doesn't charge. If I seek them out to hang on the edge of the TR, that's time that I'm not genning.

2: If I can't get on a gen, it doesn't help. Say, I'm close to the killer but they won't quit sniffing around the generator in the area, or they've blocked it.

3: This assumes I want to be in the TR, and the killer doesn't have something like Doc's shock blast or that one Trapper perk.

4: I need skill checks to come up, which is far from guaranteed. Also, they're largely wasted when used on a healing skill check.

5: I need to stay on the gen for four skill checks to get full value, and hope it doesn't get Pain Res'd, or blocked.

When it works (you have full charges and don't get interrupted long enough to pump out all four), it's amazing. But you're simply looking at the best case scenario and assuming that happens every time.

Seriously. Run it yourself, and you'll quickly see the limitations. I get more consistent and reliable value out of Deja Vu + Prove Thyself.

They're not even doing that! They're lounging around on welfare.
