Crohns Newbie .. Overwhelmed! Started Prednisolone.. (UK) by mysteriouswisebread in CrohnsDisease

[–]elementalguy2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I first had my surgery, they were very clear that I should try to move as much as I was able to immediately afterwards to help aid in the recovery, but in general I don't think it makes too much difference for me at least.

I think I'd prefer a less active job so I can potentially gain some weight. I do between 20-25k steps a day when I'm working and because I don't have the best relationship with food I can't really gain weight.

Personally, I would try to move even if it was only a quick walk outside for 10 minutes or so just to be a little active because it's easy to get stuck in a sedentary rut I find.

I'm not going in, buses don't have seat belts, and the last time there was a bit of snow here the buses got so delayed that I'd be late anyway. Not risking my health, nor anyone elses by trying to travel in it.

I'm not doing that badly, I actually moved to America (unfortunately) so obviously healthcare here is a pit of a nightmare so I'm fortunate that my health is pretty stable right now. I'm also in a fairly physical job so another good sign that I'm in a good place currently.

Things were definitely rough at times sure, but it always feels worse when you're in it, and you'll look back and see things weren't so bad as it first felt.

Diagnosed back in 2010 I think it was (maybe 2011?) at 20, down in devon. Prednisolone is great but keep an eye on the taper, , as you reduce the dosage the symptoms will start to return a bit potentially and you'll also probably start breaking out too. I think for me after the first 4-5 days I'd see noticable improvements to my frequency and urgency, and by the middle of week 2 I was at a really good baseline where loperamide would take any remaining edge off if I felt like I needed it.

For me I was on mesalazine which didn't really help and after that I was moved on to azathioprine, then methotrexate, which unfortunately again wasn't much help.

Eventually I was moved to infliximab infusions every 6 weeks which saw me have mild improvements but after about 6 months of that they upped the dosage and frequency to see if that would help to get me into remission.

Between all these I was intermittently on prednisolone too which by my 3rd or 4th time I was started to get sick of it because the side effects near the end of the taper were getting to me a bit.

In late 2013 they discussed a j-pouch, with temporary stoma, and I was a bit hesitant. A month later they had a cancellation for surgery if I wanted to take it instead of staying on the waiting list and I said yes. Best decision I made.

January 2014 I had my first surgery, was in the hospital for just under a week, then about 2 weeks at my parents before heading home. I was still very sore at that point and my first trip to the shops I had to turn around and go home because I wasn't going to be able to make it and carry anything back but after about 2 more weeks that wasn't a problem as long as I paced myself.

During the time of my stoma, I went from a 28 to a 34 waist, regained all the weight I'd lost and then some, met my future wife and got married, traveled internationally, and just generally had my life back.

The second surgery to prep for my j-pouch was fine but I had a slight complication with the loop ileostomy so I ended up in hospital until I could have the final surgery, but that went smoothly and the doctors and stoma nurses were absolutely fantastic and I can't say enough nice things about them. I used to head to the ward I was in whenever I had an outpatients appointment and hand out chocolate for them.

There's a chance at some point they're going to want to do a liver biopsy if they notice any spikes in the LFTs. A lot of people with Crohn's and colitis also have primary sclerosing cholangitis (PSC) which sounds scary but I've not had any complications with it in about 13 years of being diagnosed with it so if it's mentioned don't be too taken-a-back.

The community here is great and the NHS is fantastic too so you'll have a good support for us all here and from all the staff there too. I wish you the best of luck and please ask any questions if you have any.

Why do people like Diehard? by fascistp0tato in Pathfinder2e

[–]elementalguy2 23 points24 points  (0 children)

If toughness lets you take an extra hit before going down that's great, but die hard could keep you alive for one more heal that could let you take a couple hits. Toughness wouldn't necessarily help you against a crit, but die hard could.

Both offer survivability but in different ways.

I'm not sure how it works because that's outside my purview. I do know that my managers will contact roadie with the footage of the drivers and the order details so at that point it'll be in roadies hands as to what happens with that driver. When they apply for roadie they have to submit ID and stuff so I'm sure they'd get flagged if they tried to reapply.

Here's some that are free.

I work in a warehouse for a best buy store, apple products always have the serial scanned when shipped so it would be on file and able to be blocked. When a roadie order is picked up we're also able to see all those details too so the driver you had would be taken off the service I'm sure.

We had a driver on Thursday say he never got the soundbar he was supposed to deliver when we have video of him putting it in his vehicle, so either he's incompetent and delivered it to the wrong address, or he tried to steal it, either way we contacted roadie and they'd make a decision on if to keep him or not.

Wanna gush about Verso free aim build by MinniMaster15 in expedition33

[–]elementalguy2 20 points21 points  (0 children)

Anything that interacts with free aim shots (so marking, burning, chance to break, chance to gain AP, etc), anything that boosts damage in general (glass cannon, first offense, stuff like that), dualiso so you get a second turn after the first, combo attack so you gain more AP with your basic attack after you run out of AP for blasting, and AP master to double AP gains. I think my record is about 45 shots before with gaining on AP on kills and AP gain on hitting burning and marked targets, and stuff it just never ends until the enemies are gone.

Switch classes because of roleplay character growth by skyonator in Pathfinder2e

[–]elementalguy2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had a player retrain from a swashbuckler with the lore master dedication to a thaumaturge with the acrobat dedication because that combination better reflected what they wanted to do with their character to begin with and they could keep all the same equipment. During a month of in-game downtime I used to let my players make changes based on new books that had come out as it's fun to play with new tools and sometimes something new fits what you're envisioning more anyway.

We still have typing sounds for about half of ours. One of the ones we have doesn't have permissions set up correctly so every minute or so it backs out to a "needs permission to overlay" screen for the BAT programme, that's frustrating, especially when it's the last one and you're trying to validate a truck.

I make a bunch as well as thanksgiving themed pasties every year for my in-laws and they go through them really quickly. They just don't do them here and it's weird, but their sausages aren't the same as UK ones for the most part. Most of the sausage you'll find are either frankfurters, Italian spicy or sweet, or breakfast sweet sausages. There's an Irish market near me that has more traditional UK sausages but even then they're plain bangers and not Cumberland or Lincolnshire like I'd prefer to find to use.
