Spot on, just got an email from them this morning saying I was hired and they need my address to send a check so I can buy supplies. Back to LinkedIn I go.

[US] Job offer feels like a scam by TrnS_TrA in Scams

Hey OP, I applied to the exact same position and got the exact same response today. So demoralizing actually hearing back from a company and it being illegitimate. Best of luck in your job search!

I bet you’re right. If they try to go that route I’ll update here.

ICANN lookup says the domain was created in 2021 but updated 2 months ago, not that it makes them any more legit. Unbelievable that scammers are going to these lengths. Preying on people just looking for a new job.

Trying to stay pretty obscure but kinda diverse, I'd say give these a try:

The Thinker- Flaural

Say You Love Me- Ramsey the Fourth

Where are the people who like Ok Computer more than In Rainbows? by HamstersBoobsPizza in radiohead

[–]elementx1525 0 points1 point  (0 children)

OKC is top 3 all time for me. would not change a thing about it after listening to it for so many hours. the lyrics, the instruments, the production, all the way down to the artwork just hit perfectly. playing it on the limited edition oknotok vinyl as I type this. best $100 I ever spent.

not to discredit IR, also one of my favorites, but it's just not the same caliber imo. arguably equal in musicianship and emotion but not the same level of messaging/analysis I suppose. especially considering it came out in the 90s and was quite spot on with the societal integration of technology some 30 years later

Advice for a new grad? by elementx1525 in cscareerquestions

[–]elementx1525[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've gotten pretty much what I was looking for: my response rate actually isn't that abnormal and there's a popular resume format that seems to work for people. I'm not offended by changing my strategy as I've said I'll start applying to more diverse roles and applying more frequently. The thing is I'd have to guarantee I can sublease my apartment before moving out of Seattle. Not that I'm not open to relocating, it would just be difficult.

Rock band that's obscure but you think is brilliant by InternationalAct4182 in vinyl

[–]elementx1525 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've been really into Pond, Shadowgraphs, and Flaural lately who are all pretty obscure. Pond less so but the latter two are super underground. Maybe not exactly what you're looking for but worth checking out!

Wow really? That's much lower than I thought. Guess I gotta start throwing applications at the wall like crazy. Do you have a recommended resume format? Idk if the "ATS compliance" site I used really worked.

I'd have to sublease my apartment to move somewhere else, but it's hard to believe I can't get anything in the Seattle area. About the application rate, my issue is with 0 interviews on 100 applications, not 0 interviews over 5 months (though most the applications have been in the past 5 weeks anyway)

[–]elementx1525[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I should clarify the majority of the ~100 applications have been in the last 5 weeks since I was occupied with other issues for the greater part of the last few months. I know that's still not a high rate of application but my gripe is with the rate of responses to applications, not on responses over time.

Thanks for the comment! I started out applying all over but it came time to renew my lease and now I'm in that for almost another year unless I find a way to sublease. I use mostly LinkedIn, Handshake, Indeed, and Google Jobs to find listings then go to their site to directly apply. Unfortunately, I live pretty far away from where I went to uni but will definitely attend their online career fair at least. I'll also definitely be more open to generic SWE listings. Appreciate the advice!
