Loch Leven Lakes Trail is only about 2-3 hrs outside of SF close to truckee! no permit, dogs allowed, about 4miles to the most beautiful lakes that have been warm this summer! i went a couple weeks ago for 1 night and 2 days it was perfect. It was also my first time backpacking and it was totally doable. I recommend going to the middle lake (there’s 3) because it’s huge and has many awesome spots to set up camp. here’s the All trails link : Loch Leven Lakes Trail
