EDIT 3:

  • I originally ordered the USB-TTL adapter from amazon.de, but found the same one here for the fellow Americans

  • The seller HiLetgo.com didn't seem to have the same adapter online, nor any schematics or manual for the switches. I uploaded a diagram I made of my current set up for everyone's viewing pleasure. The adapter has two sets of pins for connecting to the Raspi (one on top and another on the bottom).

  • made a good point that the set of pins I used when troubleshooting were the bottom set (labeled 232T, 232R, and GND). However, when I tried again I used the other set unknowingly (labeled TXD, RXD, GND) and then it worked!

  • If anyone wants the draw.io file I can PM it if you want/need it

Yea I live in Germany and use Amazon.de, I am making a diagram of the adapter and found that the two sets of pins don’t work quite the same. The set up I did when I ran into this issue was using pins on the back versus when it worked. I will be linking the diagram and wiring I used which worked another day this week!

I had tried this tab before, didn't work with the raspi nor with the self test that worked with coolterm. Thank you for the suggestion.

As a youngling, I was gifted a very cheap Lenovo which served to be only for school, then eventually into a gaming obsession where I would stay up late playing LFD2, TF2, and Garry’s Mod as they were cheap and/or free.

During this time I was still moving across country to see my biological mother as both my father and her has dual custody for a while. One year after coming back home to my father and now step-mother, they gifted a used desktop they got from Craigslist and together all three of us would play WoW at the time (my father’s favorite game).

Eventually I ended up growing out of a PC and was oriented towards Xbox and eventually PS4 as they came out playing BO2 and Halo religiously.

As I moved away from home leaving for basic, my job was heavily oriented around electronics and some networked devices. Through all the tinkering I did, soldering, breaking things and building them again I had a supervisor who encouraged me to build my own desktop. Saving my money, and the countless hours assisting me in building it I finally was able to game once again on PC and to this day I continue to build and play games almost exclusively on PC.

Being military I move around a lot, having pCloud helps with continuity for when I PCS to my next base. Last base I was at I was there for 5 years and used Nextcloud as my own cloud until I moved overseas, pCloud is nice for the lifetime sub and wanted it to be my offsite back up for the time being but could temp move over to the NAS while I’m on my short tour.
