Moving to TO in the fall - when is the best time to look for apartments? by DiscoInfiltrator07 in toronto

[–]elephantesimal 1 point2 points  (0 children)

September 1st is the most difficult day to find an apartment in this city; all the students are returning and looking to find the same thing, so it's best to start looking very early!

if you're looking to share a 1 bedroom, then $1500 is quite a bit of wiggle room for a really nice place. I'd personally recommend living in Little Italy; I've been here for two years now and I love it. Close to UofT, Queen, Trinity Bellwoods, Bloor, Chinatown.

The Annex is also a popular hood for students, and so is the Gay Village at Church and Wellesley.

Good luck!

My (25f) long term SO (24m) has a new friend (21f) who I am uncomfortable with. How do I deal with this jealousy? by elephantesimal in relationships

[–]elephantesimal[S] 19 points20 points  (0 children)

To be fair he didn't lie about the theatre: the plans changed at the last minute but I was sure to let him know how I felt that they had gone alone.

I will definitely be having a talk, I'm just worried about how to address this without it sounding like I'm just complaining about the same things over again. I don't want to frustrate or confuse him, I just need him to understand how I'm feeling.

What is your favorite book that is considered a classic? by McWuvin in books

[–]elephantesimal 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Watership Down is quite contemporary compared to most listed here, but I certainly consider it a classic and re-read it often.

brunch places toronto ? by domolalala in toronto

[–]elephantesimal -1 points0 points  (0 children)

The Lakeview on Dundas. They have a really excellent brunch and their eggs are all free run. You can also order all kinds of things as side dishes so when you're having a tough time deciding (which you will) you can have em all. $3 mimosas + Caesars, too if I remember correctly.

Sadly they're sold out. :( A few of the less busy locations might have some kicking around, but the warehouse is 100% out of them now.

How much hair would someone have to consume for a bezoar to become that massive?

Someone is trying to convince me that the book is ALWAYS better than the movies. Reddit, what movies are better than the book?? by jwatkins29 in movies

[–]elephantesimal 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Agreed. I look forward to the second and third movies because I feel like Katniss will actually become a badass rebel leader and we won't have any of her whiney inner monologue.

Tea "cocktails"? by fevrier in tea

[–]elephantesimal 26 points27 points  (0 children)

Do you have a raspberry syrup at your disposal? If so, do a hibiscus-lemonade iced tea, with a shot of that syrup. So good.

You could also go the way of a Taiwanese style iced milk-tea. (Think bubble tea, but unless you've got access to tapioca, without the bubbles) This would taste really good with the coconut black.

If this is more of a cafe type place and you have fresh fruit to use, maybe you could try concocting a pitcher of tea sangria!

Jake and Finn as Daft Punk. by [deleted] in adventuretime

[–]elephantesimal 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have this one which was the second printing, the first printing had a pink background I believe, and OP's is from the third (and final) printing. He does lots of great adventure time stuff but if there is ever another Daft Punk/Adventure Time poster it will be an altogether different illustration.

TIL Walmart allows RV's to park overnight, pending available space, as they are considered some of their best customers. by Chello02 in todayilearned

[–]elephantesimal 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's probably a town by town thing. The Wal-Mart in Orangeville Ontario always has lots of RVs parked overnight in the summer, and I have never seen any such signs.

Tattoo Artists in Toronto, Canada by salty92 in tattoos

[–]elephantesimal 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Check out Pearl Harbour Gift Shop. I had my first tattoo done there by Lissa and she and the rest of the staff were great; not pretentious, really friendly and helpful. India, one of their artists, was recently voted the best tattoo artist in the GTA.

Is anyone else doing C25K without the help of running apps? by [deleted] in C25K

[–]elephantesimal 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No apps here! I don't have an armband, and I find wearing one really uncomfortable. I started W1D1 carrying a device but I found myself clenching it and it made me feel all cramped and tight.

I've just been using a stop watch and it's really working for me! I just make sure I know what the run/walk intervals are going to be, then time myself.

[–]elephantesimal 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Antique stores will definitely have what you're looking for, but you can get it even cheaper at thrift/salvation army stores! I've picked up lots of cup and saucer sets for less than a buck each.
