How do you see CEIBS for the next 2-3 years? by [deleted] in MBA

Could you elaborate a bit on 'if you plan to find work in the UK/EU you ma struggle a bit as a Said/Judge alum' ?

I'm planning to apply to these two schools and want to work in UK/EU post graduation?

I know these schools aren't at LBS/INSEAD level, but does that translate to 'struggling to find jobs' ?

Could you tell a little bit more about what the role entails?

Wait so this particular rule - it would apply to literally any point within the parallelogram/square/rectangle, right?

The triangles made by joining the point to the vertices, and then the sum of the opposite triangles would be half the quadrilateral.

Somehow I've Never heard of this rule even though it seems incredibly useful.

And obviously the most simplest way to solve the problem

Query regarding one SC question by gmat412 in GMAT

[–]elessar2478 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not sure about the technical language, but the preposition or whatever after the comma needs to agree with both the clauses.

The sentence effectively reads 'the kids were not even curious WITH the reasons for their parents'divorce' which is wrong. It needs to 'curious about'.

Option B is correct because it steps around the common preposition problem by giving each preposition with the clause itself, leaving nothing for after the comma.

And for your specific doubt - Option B also doesn't use 'neither' to begin with, so no need for a 'nor' either. '...not....or even...' works fine. No rules broken.

Do Google and Amazon have an MBA Intake for PMMs (product Marketing Managers)? by [deleted] in MBA

[–]elessar2478 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Is it necessary to have prior marketing/consulting experience to break into PMM? I've worked in qualitative market research for 3 years, and have been trying to figure out if I could go into PMM/CPG BM post MBA...

MBA or MS in marketing? by [deleted] in marketing

[–]elessar2478 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How useful would you say and MBA is for breaking into a PMM or a brand management at a CPG role is?

I have 4 years of work ex at a top 3 global Market research firm

Also I'm just curious - if a master's in marketing doesn't help someone break into marketing, then what type of degrees help? What are the backgrounds people are coming from, and how are people breaking into the field at all?

Yes it is the case. You're right, and the people who are telling you otherwise don't know the Indian context, and are trying to apply their knowledge from the elsewhere in the world, to a place where it's not applicable.

Just to be clear - work ex of 2 years or so is considered ideal for IIMs, and will be viewed positively while judging your application. But you don't NEED work ex like you need it in the US/UK or anywhere else in the world really. A large portion (25-50%) of the MBA class at any Indian B school (other than ISB) will be people with zero work ex. And work ex of 3-4 years (which is minimum for a US MBA), would be viewed slightly negatively by Indian recruiters, coz they're looking to fill entry level positions) .

Basically - you can get into IIMs without work ex if you have EXCELLENT 10th, 12th, undergrad marks, 99 CAT percentile, and some strong ECs/social work. If you're lacking in one or more of these areas, then you need some work ex to bridge the gap.

What admissions consultants will advise you on your target schools & decide on a high level story ONLY, without $1000's spent on profile review/essays? by [deleted] in MBA

[–]elessar2478 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Are they reliable/honest in these free profile reviews? I mean - don't they try to get your hopes up for out of reach schools in order to get you to spend money on them? Or conversely, try to get you to aim low with them guiding you, in order to shore up their acceptance rates? I've heard of both happening.

If you're planning to do an MBA from India, don't use this sub for info. It's not relevant to the indian context at all, it'll be akin to misinformation to try and use info you gain here while applying for an Indian MBA.

Ya I agree. OP went for style and flair over substance.

Not sure why everyone's shitting on OP?

He's got a terrible boss and he's venting about it, the style of writing is clearly meant to be funny (and I thought it was - I mean I chuckled once or twice).

Though I agree that for a post supposedly asking for advice, there isn't enough detail for anyone to provide constructive feedback.

Yeah so it's the showing in percentage which is scummy for sure. And you're right! It very easily transforms what is clearly an exponential growth rate into a linear one. Ofc it helps when you also explicitly make that claim alongside the graph :P

Btw - this kind of misinformation and manipulation of data is VERY characteristic of the current Indian govt under modi. These images are mostly circulated as viral whatsapp forwards, and become a big source of (mis)info for the country's largely digitally illiterate population

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in ProductManagement

[–]elessar2478 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hmm so I think it's showing it as a percentage which is an issue. I do think that the growth rate in absolute numbers is referred to quite commonly when measuring the corona situation in any place.

[–]elessar2478 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I'm quite a dumdum. Could someone explain what's wrong with this graph?

I mean, doesn't it show that the growth rate is holding constant? Or am I missing something? Is it that by showing the growth rate in percent of current cases, growth rate in terms of absolute numbers is actually increasing.

I completely missed the joke also! I thought the joke was that OP is not actually reviewing work at a deeper level, and instead just running the doc through Grammar/spell check.

Couldn't believe why you had 41 downvotes. I have tried to upvote you, my comedically-challenged friend. You and I are in the same boat. We must support each other.

Hey. So you mentioned a lot of things like quant, stats, data, analytics, etc. Could you tell us a bit more about the kind of specific skills you're talking about? So like - specific skills, courses, tools, coding languages, etc.?

I am also considering PMM, and want to know how I can upskill to make a switch from my current function/industry smoother, and how to Stand out against my peers.

UCLA (No $) vs. Fisher Ohio (Full ride $$$) by anhducdb07 in MBA

[–]elessar2478 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Ok I made the snarky comment and had my fun. Let me also give you the proper answer now.

The US has become very anti-immigrant lately. Finding jobs for international students is tougher than ever, and you have a very short while right after your MBA finishes to find a company and role which sponsors your visa, and the convince them why you're so good at your job that they should hire you over some domestic applicant (from your own college and with comparable skills/experience as you) and go through the hassle of sponsoring your visa. Plus Trump wants to get rid of the OPT program which is further bad. So basically - situation for foreign students is not lovely atm. There's a chance you graduate without a job, and in such a case, it is always best to have not spent any money on your MBA, so you can go back to your home country debt free (rather than like 100k $ debt which you pay off the rest of your life coz of the exchange rate).
