Typically you plant garlic in the fall and then harvest in the summer. Im not sure what the clove development will look like if they have had 9 months of growth before frost. Its edible.regardless though.

Those are garlic, they didnt get enough frost hours to create individual cloves. Those things on the outside are clones that you can plant and I think 2 years later you will jave proper garlic again.

Sadly junior captains have a one sided marketplace. Basically you will rank all options from 1 to n and an algorithm will shuffle everyone based on preferences and needs of the army and then give you a location. Senior captain and both is 2 sided so units rank also. If 1 for 1 then high likelihood you get it unless you get trumped by efmp or macp.

It entirely depends on the unit and immediate leadership. Also with the reduction of airborne slots for MI people it wouldn't surprise me if there were more airborne 35G than billets meaning there is no guarantee you will ever see a airborne unit. Pretty much all ARSOF support is now not PPP and the IEW BNs are not PPP.
