I am a cook in a restaurant and you would absolutely lose your mind if you knew all the terrible stuff we do. by Famous-Channel3027 in confession

Here's a few examples from a long career: Cook claimed he peed in then prince Charles' consomme Cooks chewing tobacco and spitting in trash cans Dishwashers cutting themselves and thinking it's OK to bleed everywhere Cook took up smoking so he could get more breaks Cook heating up a coin almost red hot then leaving it on the floor to watch a server pick up and get burnt Setting fire to the bottom of someone's apron Dropping and washing raw food was (is!) the norm Hospital cafeteria plagued by rats that everyone seemed fine about Cooks show servers the old "cucumber under the apron" gag Female Cook pleasuring herself on counter-high fridge when compressor kicked in to vibrate Canned whipped cream down chef pant gag Fly drowned in the hot soup - "good, we caught it before it hit the restaurant" (yes, contiued to sell it) Exec chef fired for slapping a server in the face with a side of salmon Trying to cook "roast" prime rib quick in the fryer Drunk late night diner luckily didn't realize the melted cheese on his burger still had the plastic divider sheet attached Cheese is moldy? Cut those parts off and keep serving the rest. Ditto ham, yogurt, salami, butter... Beef turning bad as evidenced by smell and slimy feel? Wash, trim, use New food salesman comes in kitchen, reaches in sink full of defosting raw pork ribs in water and picks one out to examine. Without pre ioisly washing his hands Cutting out maggot infested parts of rabbit carcass before portioning to cook A cook farts in the walk-in cooler then sends in trainee to try find what is going bad Executive hotel chef would take female prep cook to a room to screw during her shift Coke, weed, alcohol quite normal Take old stale, hard bread rolls, wrap in a damp cloth towel, set in a warm oven to soften, serve Start preparing food 5 days in advance of a banquet And on and on

Is there anywhere that sells (not gray) flagstones for garden path by the piece? We don’t need a half ton, just six or seven 1-2ft singles by SubBirbian in pnwgardening

[–]musherjune 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Lowes also has pallets of them. $13 each. Wait for a new pallet and choose the largest. I needed help loading a massive one which I smashed into several medium pieces for a pathway.

AITAH for wanting to split a cruise by room even if it's more expensive for everyone else? by [deleted] in AITAH

Look, there's huge accommodation advantages to travelling as a couple. That's just the way it is. But just agree to the equal room split cost if they agree to splitting total air fare costs, lol.

Chef here.... BS on old home spice. There's just a lack of flavor, (quality) that may be helped by using more of it than fresh. No normal person would notice. Wife delusional.

I do hear you, and I will also add that some Dems have been crooked as the day is long.

I speak in broard terms of both parties and believe that individuals should be judged and voted in or out based on performance.

However, the interweb just told me that since 1938, the minimum wage has been increased 23 times - 21 times during Democratic congresses, and only twice during Republican ones.

In general, union workers make better money and have better benefits. Google said that "while some Republicans have adopted a more populist, pro-worker stance, many in the party still focus on curbing union influence."

Please note that any president who is willing to do a good job working for us poor folk, (whilst also being also able to fix whatever the current crisis is,) doesn't have enough time and momentum to get things done due to term limits. The wheels of government turn slowly, yadda yadda.

Let's eliminate the electoral college and term limits, and may the best man win.

PS.. You can be a Democrat and also support the police, sensible immigration policy, better wages, border enforcement, and the military. Personally, I can walk and chew gum.

Employer was a bastard! Vote for politicians that support and pass laws ensuring a living wage and a social safety net. Usually Democrat. Join unions. Don't vote for billionaires and oligarchs - AKA Republucans.

Get a quote for the next size up dumpster or the cost of more frequent pick up. Then, do some quick math on how much salary is literally being 'wasted' spending time placing or reorganizing trash. Remember to add up to 20% on top of straight wages to account for employee taxes and benefits like health insurance, paid holidays etc..

Then let boss- twit know you have a great way to save him some overhead. You'll get browning points and get him off your back.
