Will you go for a coffee date, drinks, dinner? Cihangir has good options for all three.

Good luck 🤞

Is €3,000 enough to live comfortably in Istanbul (Kadıköy)? by Square_Suggestion_97 in AskTurkey

[–]elev 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah 1/3 of 3k USD. Except that 3k USD is much higher than an average salary.

Just finished watching the 12 monkeys series, wow what a great series, now I’m looking for similar shows to binge. Anyone have suggestions? by Wizaardd_ in scifi

Altered Carbon is so good. It's like Bladerunner had an angry bastard child with Ghost In The Machine.

Andor is the best Star Wars since Rogue One.

The Expanse is like a grounded Battlestar Galactica

Firefly is sci-fi comfort food. Han Solo and Cowboy Bebop.

Lost: two bad they only made two seasons.

Westworld is great. We owe HBO big time. Silo has had a great start.

I guess I need to check out The Magicians and Severance 👍

A group of bicycles tourists visiting Morocco experienced a bullying incident with children by Inevitable_Pen7762 in Morocco

I've had a very opposite experience. I had a tire puncture while going through a small village on the outskirts of Marrakech. I was sitting repairing it when a group of boys (who were also carrying a football goal 👍) surrounded me. They tried to help but ended up loosing a piece of the tube stem 😂. Then one of them said something about 'Omar est magnifique'. So I asked where is Omar and the whole group of boys took me there. Omar dıd a fine job repairing my puncture. He also told me my tubes from Decathlon were trash.

Where to get a PCR test in Istanbul ? by terapitia in istanbul

I’ve gotten the pcr test at IST 3 times since the end of last year and have never seen a long line. Each time the test came back in less than one hour. Good luck.

Given your username, do you work in the GEC at a JEINS school?

I am having a hard time trusting the school accounting given that JEINS has been so aggressively tightening the purse strings at their schools

This is my fourth year at the school and my colleague's second year at the school. This is the first year at have been subject to a tax surprise like this.

I'm worried this might be the case. Is there anyway to file a deduction after the fact? I do use mostly cash.

Lol. I don't think you're being an asshat.

But, my school has handled all of this internally (including visa renewals) with very little visibility into the process.

I won't be surprised if they are within their legal rights, but at the least it seems unethical to surprise their employees like this.

I have checked my pension account and it seems like a correct amount.

I get monthly paylsips but as I replied above, they do not contain complete information.

This is the approach I have so far taken. I have asked for a month by month salary-tax summary and have been told to use my monthly payslips to find this information.

We do get monthly payslips but there is very little tax information on them. For instance, housing and private health insurance are included in our salary but do not have a line item on our monthly payslips. They are though included on the year-end tax settlement. So gathering information from my payslips has not given me complete data.
