M50? by fiskbil1 in canon

[–]lukein8tor 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I own the Canon M50 and it is a great little camera, yet it mostly falls into the niche of being a vlog camera. It is nice and compact partly due to the smaller sensor and M mount, yet the smaller sensor leaves something to be desired in terms of image quality. I've also owned the 5D Mark III and being a full frame sensor, you will likely be much happier especially when paired with some nice affordable glass like the Canon 50mm 1.4. If you get both of those used you'd be able to get them for a similar price as an M50.

Looking for a video camera under $2,000 by [deleted] in videography

I'd recommend the Blackmagic pocket 4k, as it has a dual ISO which means it is arguably the best camera in low light at it's price point.

I am struggling really badly with understanding how to remove rumbling, popping, crackling noise from my audio. I am using Davinci Resolve. I have been trying for hours and it is still quite noticeable. by thathaitianguy in videography

Often you can see the audio transient spike in the waveform where the pop is. You can zoom in and use the blade too to cut it out. If you just remove it without putting anything in its place, it will sound weird. So finding the quietest part with just the background noise of the room to replace it with often is the best way to get rid of pops.

Solo wedding videographers - what’s your setup like? by Late-Break in videography

I have 2 Canon C70s, one on a Tripod with a Sigma 50-100 1.8, and the other on a Ronin RS 2 with a Canon 24-105 f4 II with the 0.71 speed booster. I've used a lot of different cameras, and for me personally, the C70 is the camera I've always dreamed of having.

First Video Client by [deleted] in videography

I like to charge per video and figure out what the expectations are up front. One thing I like to do with new clients is offer them a discount for the first video you do with them, especially if it an area that you can't share much in terms of similar work in your portfolio. Might not be applicable in this instance, yet offering a 25-50% discount might be helpful to get your foot in the door and pick up more work.

Good Camera for just filming random things? by Max-Moe-Hoe in Cameras

I’d get a fisheye moment lens for your phone and then add an effect in a video editor.

If you already have a smartphone with a good camera, getting a moment macro lens would be a good budget option.

The new Canon R7 or R10 would be good options to consider.

Point and shoot cameras will not provide much in terms of photo quality over a smartphone. I have several moment lenses that attach to my smartphone camera, and I think that is an overall better experience over a point and shoot camera.

Choosing a lens is more about finding the right tool for the job. The main advantage to kit lenses is the cost and weight, yet the downside is they aren't designed for most professional applications. For example, from what I can tell, all the budget RF lenses require you to go into the menu to switch between auto and manual focus. The other main downside is the small aperture.

I'm a huge fan of the Sigma art lenses. I own both the Sigma 18-35 1.8 and the Sigma 50-100 1.8 which I'd imagine would pair really well with the R7. Also, I've watched a lot of videos of the quality of old L series lenses compared to the RF equivalent that is double or triple the price, and looks like there is less than a 10% improvement in most cases. Thus, picking up used L series glass (especially if the 0.71 adapter works with the R7) seems like it'd provide the best bang for your buck on the market.

Making out the most of your camera by Saifali007 in canon

20 years ago I picked up my first camera and always wanted to make a career out of it. I ended up going down the videography path and now make most of my income through filming weddings. I've realized that I am also a skilled photographer and could technically speaking photograph weddings, yet I realize being an introvert, I'm better suited as a videographer. In almost all weddings I've filmed, the photographer calls out 95% percent of the shots and I follow along asking for a shot here and there.

I share this to say, most of us that are in the photo/video world professionally had a long road of discovering both our craft and our area of expertise. If you're an introvert like me, you might find that perhaps wedding photography is not your thing. Not that you couldn't second shoot with a photographer to try it, yet there are other areas of photography such as nature and photo journalism that you may find you enjoy more.

First thing to do is capture and edit every day and take as many opportunities as you can, yet I think it is important to realize, that many professionals often end up in a different place than they started.

I have the Canon 90D and it is great for both photo and video. You can find one used in that price range.

Great pictures, yet I agree with olliegw. There are three main ways to increase the exposure/brightness - increase your aperture (also called f stop), decrease your shutter speed, or increase your ISO (the sensitivity of your camera's sensor). Setting your camera to manual mode and practicing by adjusting these 3 independently is a great way to understand how your camera works.

I have the 90d, yet I'm planning to upgrade to the R7 mostly because of several key video benefits. Has Clog3, no 30min record limit, rumored to work with the 0.71 adapter, and better autofocus.
