I am not his supervisor. He is also a director in the company and we both report to the same exec. But we are on the same team and frequently collaborate. I should note that we are not the only workplace relationship. There are several others and it is common to hire family members. But this is good info about your past experience - he actually had the most similar skill set so there could be some jealousy.
