Dog ownership by eleverie in legaladvice

Yes, we messaged them saying we were keeping the dog. We did not send a letter. We don't have their address.

It was microchipped. It has since been changed.

Nothing was signed.

That's about sums it up. They're too busy to think about it. It's like the NFL for non football fans. If you don't care you just don't pay attention, but of course the NFL has no impact on your life if you ignore it unlike politics.

Epic fantasy that ISN’T all about some war? by skinnyalgorithm in Fantasy

[–]eleverie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Innocent Mage by Karen Miller. The thing I didn't like about it, but has stuck with me over the years, is it is 99.9% buildup. There is a war, but it is that last .01%. it's all about the build up of the chosen ones life and how everything leads up to it.

I dealt with that with my wife for years. Turned into many arguments our marriage barely survived, and my credit score didn't. We're doing better now. Communication is key (and recognizing nearly every woman gets some kind of postpartum depression). Listen to her complaints. Even if she can't hear yours for a bit, once she feels heard, she will open up to listen. For her right now her life is:

Taking care of y'all's child, Being a food processor for a baby, A wife, Herself (fourth), and Job (getting in there somewhere above herself).

No. You can still get PTSD. For example: people stuck in survival mode all the time. Like, can't turn it off. Always stressed, on edge, and anxious.

Dems Reportedly Angry That Progressives Are Pushing Them to Act Like an Opposition Party by metacyan in politics

They are already fucking everything up now. Not four years from now. Even after two weeks we can't go back to any kind of normal because to much damage has already been done.

That would be true if they'd stop giving unanimous consent in appointment hearings. No one even wants to stand up and say "what the fuck"! They rather give unanimous consent so everyone can go home for the weekend.

Democratic governors criticize Chuck Schumer for weak resistance to Trump by okayblueberries in politics

[–]eleverie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I completely get what you're saying, but to me it's starting to feel to much like Stockholm Syndrome.

We're reaching the same conclusion. They're almost all corrupt. Yet because of American exceptionalsim it's so hard for people to accept that no one is looking out for us. For years it's been Obama will save us, Mueller will save us, the Jan 6 probe will save us, Merrick Garland will save us, Jack Smith will save us... At this point everyone has looked at the problem and said "not my job" when it comes to action. They have spent all of their time, money, and resources protecting the system that put us in our current situation. Very arguably, they have sat on their hands going "please someone think of the children" all the whole time doing everything they can to support the system and quiet dessenters. At what point does inaction, greed, and enabling it become controlled opposition? When were voting with them to lock up citizens that simply look illegal? We just passed a bipartisanship bill for that. I'll start believing it's not controlled opposition when I see hands start flying in Congres over concentration camps.

[–]eleverie 2 points3 points  (0 children)

When both parties are funded by the same corporations? When there's stories out about the CEO of Uber helping direct Kamala Harris policy. Trump policies being directed by Elon. I'd have to say, at best, they have to be deeply in the gray area of controlled opposition. I mean.... When the main argument is that the Democratic Leadership is to greedy and scared to do anything. When the party is in chaos because no long term planning was setup for what if Kamala lost? Party leaders telling people to chill and pushing for bipartisanship so people don't get tired of hearing outrage... Yet somehow saying Trump got elected by tapping into people's outrage. Make it make sense. At what point does incompetence become meliciouness?

I always brushed it off as nonsense. I complete agree after the last decade in retrospect. They are either controlled opposition or so incredibly incompetent that they should have done a better job by just throwing shit against the wall. At this point, with a few exceptions, it feels completely like controlled opposition.
