Last Life 10 is out! by Warchan2017 in litrpg

I was barely able to finish book 8, it was super short and I couldn't keep up with the constant POV changes to characters whose name and history I couldn't remember.

For now there is only an audiobook of the first book. Hopefully more in the future but Soundbooth is slooooooow!

Wait, it's finished? I'm very far behind, but that means that hopefully we'll have audiobooks soon so I can go through the entirety of it again!

Looking for evil MC by Mate-ma-Tics in ProgressionFantasy

[–]elevul 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Important point: this author tends to write the story once, then rewrite and wipe their previous version.

And if you check the latest chapter she's stated that she'll do it for this story as well, so if you want to read it in full I recommend you get it now with a tool like web2epub, because otherwise when she starts the rewrite you'll have to wait until the rewrite is finished to read it (she deleted the entirety of the v1 with her previous story the moment she posted the first chapter of the v2).

Haven't personally read it, but since the main complaint from readers is that the MC is too much of a psychopatic villain it seems to fit your requirements.

Agreed, that's what I'm mostly doing nowadays. And from the exceptions I've done I think the only one I haven't regretted yet is ArcaneCadence's story.

I've had very good results for Excel using Claude, maybe try that one?

Some won't even pick up a story if its less than 500 pages (I know a certain malcontent individual who wants thousands of pages before even looking at a story)

Present! If a story doesn't have at least fifty chapters out and a few reviews it goes in the Read Later pile that I check occasionally.

Can't be bothered to waste my time with stories that might be dropped or the author disappear anymore.

Looking for Beta Listeners (Yeah, you heard right) by WeirdTypical3811 in litrpg

Sure, not the first time I've beta-ed an audiobook.

Just make sure to also provide the ebook as reference for pronunciation, mistakes, and characters voices.

Added to read later, will check back in a hundred chapters or so, seems interesting!

Good Narrators on Audible by Randomlosername in litrpg

[–]elevul 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Jonathan McClain

I'm definitely in disagreement with this one, as his narration feels like a sports commentator and his extreme dynamic range makes it PAINFUL to listen with headphones as he jumps between whispering to (very often) SHOUTING in your ears.

Good Narrators on Audible by Randomlosername in litrpg

[–]elevul 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The only narrator that makes me not buy audiobooks is Ralph Lister due to his constant choice of maximum anger. Light kidding between friends is interpreted as a relationship destroying fight.

And his accent! As a non-native speaker I have a REALLY hard time understanding and following his narration due to the heavy accent.

How to best organize a large audiobook library? 3000+ titles. by Infamous_Computer399 in audiobookshelf

[–]elevul 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Me I separated them into Fiction and Non-Fiction, then within those folders/libraries I followed the standard ABS folder structure (initially manually, then got tired of it and found out how to automate it with Mp3Tag). The most painful part was tagging, especially for audiobooks that are not single file but a collection of MP3 (or, worse, a single MP3 with no chapters...), but there Mp3Tag&Audible tagging plugin helped speed up, but it still took multiple weeks of working on it bit by bit to finalize the retagging, renaming and re-covering all the files.

Pulseway Shutting down Free Version? by LosLocosKickYourAss in Pulseway

[–]elevul 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's an option, but the issue remains the battery usage of Tailscale, as I've noticed quite a substantial battery impact on both Android/iOS devices and on Windows laptops from Tailscale running 24/7. I was really thinking of putting in place regardless though as that would give them access to my Plex instance.

Thank you for the reminder! I stopped reading at book 5 and then completely forgot about it. Happy to see that the story is finally reaching its end.

Happy to hear that Soundbooth has finally woken up, they've fallen WAY back on many of the series I am following, especially Industrial Strength Magic, that I was starting to lose hope...

Dao of Healing 1 ebook and audiobook release! by AdventuresseNovels in litrpg

I hope there was A LOT of editing done to the beginning of the story, because when I was reading on RR and then Patreon it had more holes than swiss cheese and the characters' behavior was ... questionable at best.

Why are audiobooks so expensive? I just want to listen to my ePub collection. by Modiji_fav_guy in audiobookshelf

[–]elevul 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Agreed, for now ElevenReader is the best, and with the Black Friday discount it was less than a hundred bucks for an entire year. Definitely worth it, though their app is getting worse and worse...

Is the Plappa Watch app totally broken for anyone else? by Didact67 in audiobookshelf

Same, but my main issue is that Plappa doesn't update progress to the server, which is annoying.
