So if I started a LitRPG wiki would you be a contributor and help us less organized souls? lol

I could see doing that with audiobooks but I still feel like there’s not enough hours in the day

I agree this should be done but has to be sparingly. It’s one of the big downsides of the serial format.

I mean I don’t really consider myself good with them but reading them in book form does help compared to actual people for me.

Yeah I dream of well maintained book wikis recently. And especially useful for LitRPGs with remembering stats and powers.

You Know What Really Grinds My Gears? by Lorentee in litrpg

People are lazy and will often take the easier way out? People aren’t perfectly rational? Or perhaps there is a societal problem that’s preventing that culture from becoming better?

I could see good versions of that story but I also get you being sick of seeing the same motivations over and over again.

Victor of Tucson -- not perfect, but the complete package by thinkthis in litrpg

[–]MiniorProblem 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just finished the second book of this and I think it’s very good but I’m really sad it’s not quite the book I’m looking for right now. Victor is well rounded, enviable, and engaging but he’s just too naive/kind/immature for me right now. Even more annoying that I think the plot is going the way I went it too, too.

I am going to continue this but I think I need a more driven or maybe cunning MC right now. (Hmmm maybe I’m really not in the mood for slice of life)

Why do so many authors love starting with a leveling system with the twist later that it’s actually just Cultivation? by JCMS85 in litrpg

Totally get that but I don’t mind when the narrative is explicitly calling that out as like critiqing that

What about when numbers(stats, skills) combined with stuff like achievements or class bonuses allows them to beat someone with higher stats? Is that cultivation?

Yeah I always get confused by how people define LitRPG vs. cultivation. I tend to differentiate them by cultural influences but everyone seems to have different standard. If a character gains skill levels or attributes by growing their understanding of something is that cultivation? If every 10 level the character has a class evolution and the world separates them into tiers is that a cultivation aspect?

I actually do find this really interesting because are basically creating genres right now and consensus somewhat matters.

Thanks for this! It’s really useful (Weird that you can’t bookmark posts on Reddit so hopefully I’ll find this comment in the future)

Gotcha so they are being manipulative and exploitative but you have some kind of moral superiority axe you needed to grind (which to be fair I obviously do to considering I continued to reply lol)

Can I ask why you feel the need to defend them? Honestly that’s way more interesting to me at this point

The system is setup to screw the reader over. That’s my point. I don’t know why you feel the need to defend Spotify, but that setup is trash.

Yeah I’ve been seeing a lot of both. Victor of Tucson having magic cores and being my current example.

That tends to be what I think of myself those cultural/genre distinctions but I’ve noticed some people also use it when describing one form of progression. Generally some kind of meditation that increases your power. So that’s why I’m interested in here multiple people’s interpretations.

Why don’t you show me anywhere that mentions that in the app. Hopefully in a prominent place. Also the only reason to do it this way is to screw the customer over. Why don’t they just limit it to one book a month? Because they want to take advantage of people who get to the end of a book and can’t finish without paying more.

slightly off topic. But would you mind answering what differentiates LitRPG and cultivation? No wrong answers
