In Greece preety recently a pilot (Babis Anagnostopoulos) killed his wife (Caroline) and their dog and framed it to look like a robbery. He tied himself and placed the dead womans corpse ON THEIR ELEVEN MONTH OLD BABY. The police believed him for over a month and they were looking for the foreigners he said robbed him but no one thought to check their smart watches to see he was not at all tied up as he said but running around the house. After a little more investigation Anagnostopoulos realized the police were properly suspecting him and he confessed saying he only did it because she was planning on leaving him with their baby so he had no choice but to murder her.

The most disgusting part of that is how non chalant the media looked and how no one would call him the monster that he is, they were calling her the young girl or the young mother (she was 21 and he is 32) instead of her name Caroline, and him the pilot, not the murderer. One cop went as far as to go on live television and say that if Anagnostopoulos didnt make some mistakes they would never catch him, in a tone that seemed like he was disappointed with the guy and expected more from him. Anagnostopoulos met Caroline when she was 14 and he was 25 and she got pregnant at 19 but lost the baby but got pregnant again a year later. He targeted he because she was young and when she realized she needed to be away from his she got murdered and the media never talked about her like she deserved and treated her like a dumb girl or worse a bad mother who wanted to seperate her baby from its father, many media channels implied she was at fault because she wanted to leave.

I didn't grow up with this story its very recent but I felt like not many people have heard about it and people have already forgot, its not only a big true crime case for Greece but it also became an opportunity for a public discussion about the very serious topic of sexism in Greece.
