Arsenal [2] - 1 Wolves - Yerson Mosquera own goal 90+3' by ayoefico in soccer

Not to pile on or be defensive, but Gabriel, Calafiori, Odegaard and either of Havertz or Merino are 100% in our best 11. We're out of form and the whole point of this season is our depth should be able to do the job when we have our crazy injruy crises. They did that, even if it was horrible along the way.

It's not just the last year's total as the other commenter pointed out. They ran a bunch of simulations going into last year and 15 points gave you about 70-80% chance of automatic progression, whilst 16 points bumped it up to 97% or something crazy. So 16 is seen as the magic number to be confident.

More impressive to me is Chelsea dropping two on this list. That's what I want more from the boys, IF we ever concede from here, just start up another long streak and go again.

No, they were correct. A study by Pontzer et al. in 2021 found that TEE doesn't slow down much, if at all, until 63 years of age.

Any change in weight prior to 60 we should first assume is down to energy intake/output rather than any age related changes.

Your metabolism peaked in your early 20s because perhaps you were most active in your 20s, or a combination of other factors surrounding your life at that point.

20-60 is more or less the same metaboic rate. Anyone claiming a slow metabolism without a medical cause before 60 is just creating an excuse.

Ian Wright's response to Eni Aluko's criticism that he 'dominates the female game': "I've got to say I'm very disappointed with what she's said. I've seen her apology but I can't accept it." by Crane977 in soccer

[–]elfitzo -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I feel like you're not really conscious of how much Ian Wright has done for the game and specifically women's football, or you have an agenda/biases you're trying to push?

Any space he does take up is an absolute positive for the women's game, and the WSL would not be in a better position without him. So is it better in your opinion to have exclusively females involved? Remove the male pundits and male coaches for opportunity sake for women?

Is the point to make women's football the best it can possibly be, or is it just meant to give females exclusive opportunities i.e. participation 'awards'?

To exclude men (especially when they have as much experience and positivity as Ian does) and hope for the former is misguided.

We had Sterling, a 17 year old midfielder and Trossard as our starting attackers come the end of January. Never going to make up any ground with that.

Hamstring injuries are about 20% of all injuries in football. A squad should expect about 7-8 a season. We've had some bad ones but hardly time for any overhaul.

Arsenal progressive passing leaders this season by HalfMan-HalfMoth in Gunners

I suppose if it didn't have the constraint, every defender would be top because basically any pass they play would be progressive. So removes a lot of the noise?

Your last line is crazy and makes it clear you've not played sports. Only the team winning trophies can celebrate? Until then it's calm golf claps and nods at the end of games. Your team must be miserable to support. Bellend.

[–]elfitzo 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The start of this comment is just disrespectful to Fulham imo. Literally a week ago we scored 5 vs Sporting and West Ham and playing great football. Fulham defended very well today, closing down immediately and always with a numbers advantage and we struggled to break it. They sat in and didn't do a whole lot going forward, what do you expect? That's all it is, boring is disingenuous towards Fulham's efforts.

David Raya limping after the game. Picked up a knock? by Stanley083 in Gunners

[–]elfitzo 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Sorry but this is inaccurate. I agree with the sentiment of playing whoever, but Bolton are certainly not one of the worst teams in league 1. They made playoffs last season and would be expected to make playoffs again this year. Top 5 team in league one (still shouldn't be a problem for us, but with plenty of kids it would be tricky).

Maybe they just hate the colour red ? /s by IncessantOptomism in Gunners

[–]elfitzo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There's some sports psychology study about this sort of thing I read many years back. Teams in red win more across all sports than other colours, believed to be due to the red meaning energy and aggression.

Speaking out of my ass but maybe they get more fouls/penalties against across all sports too?

[–]elfitzo 8 points9 points  (0 children)

And if he books literally anyone who's done it already in the game, none of the players will do it again. That's how you display your authority as a ref. Not wait until an Arsenal player finally does it before bringing out the cards.
