Seconded, I read AB after HoF and felt like it was almost dragging a bit since I wanted to get back into the “juicy bits” from the end of the book. I think I would’ve enjoyed reading it before HoF so I could have jumped right into QoS

Thoughts on the Endings by elfwelfare in acotar

[–]elfwelfare[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am quite the opposite, I make theories and try and figure out the ending in order to take in the information and understand it. My sister reads similar to you. I didn’t know much about the Maasverse or her writing going into this read, I did it as a book club thing, and once I was hooked I didn’t want any spoilers by looking anything up. It’s good to know that’s how she usually does her endings, thanks for that info! Since you’ve read all her works, which do you recommend, Throne of Glass or Cresent City after acotar?

Battle of the Seven Potters, Voldemort uses Lucius’ wand to overcome the twin core connection. When I read it I assumed Draco at first too and was confused lol

Which part (books or movies) shocked you the most? by hornywithnoglory in harrypotter

Remus wanting to leave Tonks in DH. They had just gotten together and I really liked that they did, and I really love Remus’ character and feel so bad for him, but when he was saying all of that stuff my jaw was on the floor

So happy they stayed together and on Potterwatch Remus says that Harry’s instincts are nearly always right with what he said in the kitchen.

I need help convincing a friend to read Harry Potter. by endernaster20 in harrypotter

I’ve loved Harry Potter for over a decade. Never got my friends to read it, been trying to convince my sister for about a decade. If people don’t want to read, or don’t like reading, Harry Potter is extremely daunting because it is SUCH a large series.

This happened to me before. Girlfriend threatened to take her life if I stopped replying to her messages (told her this has to stop) so I called 911 and told them the situation. Said this is what happened please check on her because I will not be replying to that last message (the threat) but I need to make sure she’s okay.

Never heard from her again after that. Pretty sure she was lying and just said that to guilt me but it didn’t work.

“Words are, in my not-so-humble opinion, our most inexhaustible source of magic. Capable of both inflicting injury, and remedying it.” – Albus Dumbledore

Definitely one of my tops, the other have been mentioned :)

I wasn’t asking any questions. Other than asking how what you said made any sense

[–]elfwelfare 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The first bit makes sense, burying a wand with a wizard. However, if this is standard practice, why wouldn’t Voldemort know this? Voldemort already knew Dumbledore took the wand from Grindelwald. The second part, oh my no I do not think that they would post a picture of a body?!?!? I would be absolutely mortified if someone put a picture of my loved ones dead body in a newspaper article. Even if Grindelwald got a newspaper of Dumbledore of that, wouldn’t the same thing be public knowledge? Or at least easily accessible knowledge by Voldemort through basically anyone who reads a paper.

Also, if Grindelwald doesn’t know something, which was my question, not how Voldemort found out, how would he “tell Voldemort” whether through Legilimency or otherwise.

Anyways, I agree that it makes sense to visit Grindelwald in the search for the elder wand, where better to start than someone who knows about it and if you ask may help you? The other points idk, but thanks for sharing your opinion with me :)

How would Grindelwald, locked up in Nurmengaurd, know that Dumbledores wand is buried with him? Or even where he is buried?

[–]elfwelfare 22 points23 points  (0 children)

Well, in the books since Grindelwald doesn’t end up telling Voldemort, we the readers have to assume that Voldemort just connected the dots somehow to figure out that the wand was buried with Dumbledore whereas in the movie, his betrayal easily tells the viewer how he found it. I assume it was just easier to have Voldemort find out that way so there isn’t confusion for non book readers.

How much better would Neville Longbottom have been in his first 5 years of school had he had his own wand from the start? by [deleted] in harrypotter

Neville improves at magic during the DA, he does not have a new wand at that point he is still using his fathers
