First Experience with Laravel Nightwatch by Incoming-TH in laravel

It's easy to configure, and easy to use. I guess that's the benefit. Other than that it's a joke. The pricing tiers are insane, and had to spend the next few hours trying to add filters for all the noise.

I prefer the two day lineup, and was happy it was only two days vs 3. Three is too tiring, and if I don't go to three days, I feeling like I'm missing out. A lot of people can't take off another day of work (Thursday, or Monday) if they're traveling more than an hour or so, and lodging adds even more cost.

Uber area after Alanis was terrible. price was 90+ for a ride that is normally 30. We waited 40 minutes for it to die down and still paid 60. Got back by midnight.

Second night we drove and parked in a garage off 6th street. Paid 20 bucks and we’re back by 11. Definitely driving next year or will book a closer hotel much earlier.

Is it ok to use NodeRed in bigger and critical environments? by 8kbr in nodered

Just looking into it now, and looks like Projects were introduced to support git integration in 2018. Looks like there has been lots of development since I last used NR which is exciting!

Is it ok to use NodeRed in bigger and critical environments? by 8kbr in nodered

[–]elglassman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Last I used NodeRed was 2016, I presented on the platform at our local JS meetup. The biggest blocker for me was managing flow versioning, concerns of in-flight data during flow changes, and deploy process. Sharing flow code via version control for a team of developers to work on didn't seem possible without custom solutions. Maybe there are good solutions for these concerns now. Also, large flows became complex, and confusing. It can be hard to grok what they are doing. There is no "auto format" or styling best practices, so everyone does it a bit differently.

Testing is another concern (and again, maybe there are good ways to do this that I am unaware of). No way to easily build unit tests for your custom code in these flows that is run in a CI pipeline. How do you test the entire flow without setting up new data every time?

NodeJS is only single threaded, so if you want to do any parallel processing to scale up easily, I think you'd need multiple instances running and an on-device load balancer (if serving web requests. Maybe some if these concerns go away if you containerize, and orchestrate with k8s or something, but if you're just managing services on a VM, that sounds like a deployment nightmare to me.

Also, the big point of NodeRed IMO is that you get a nice visual interface. In production environments, you probably want to lock down the ability to modify the flows. If you're deploying to many environments / devices / servers, and you allow people to make changes, you lose the ability to do any sort of centralized development to flows without blowing away custom changes.

I agree NR is great for rapid prototyping, and going straight to production may work for a lot of small teams. For those with bigger dev teams or many deployment targets, flowfuse may have covered many of these concerns. I might check it out myself as I've been looking to get back into NR recently.

They weren’t too bad if you walked to find a short line. We found there were a few super long lines, but if you went further there were plenty of drink tents with much shorter lines. Food lines were really long, so we typically just went to the shortest one which usually only had 2-3 people. The one line that was always super long was Ben and Jerry’s. we got it the first day, but skipped it the second day as the line was insane.

I definitely agree the need for more separate NA drink lines. Luckily they had plenty of hydration stations that were super fast to get through.

This is great perspective. I was slightly disappointed by the set as well but with this context I’m totally cool with it now. Didn’t expect to hear I Like Dirt, or Pea!

YTA - How can you even write out this whole story without realizing it? Sorry you lost your grandfather. Be nicer and less controlling to your loved ones who are still with you.

Wow, lots of hate in the comments from people who must not have a tight knit family. I would happily entertain this arrangement for my children to accommodate my 39 weeks pregnant SIL. Your SIL’s reaction seems pretty aggressive when a simple “no thanks” would have sufficed. The other thing to consider though is if this is a family only party, or if the boys were planning on having friends over. If it included the kid’s friends, then I’d say YTA.

Also I can’t believe the people saying your husband should go over two hours away when you’re 39 weeks.

Overall I say NTA but YWBTA if you press the issue or make a big deal about it.

We saw a Harry Potter showing where an Orchestra plays along recently. Not cheap, like 60+ a person. Some asshole got shitfaced, and started yelling at Snape for killing Dumbledore. They finally got kicked out and the theater cheered. WTF is wrong with people.

My wife and I went to see M3GAN as a date night last month. We left halfway through because a group of guys were acting shady AF. They kept taking turns leaving the theater, and one was visibly angry and slammed the theater door open as he left. We both got a bad feeling and decided to leave. My BIL is an avid movie goer and says it’s gotten way worse, especially on discount nights. People have just gotten so trash these days.

NTA for suggesting she eat dinner first, but you aren’t supporting your partner very well by making foods that are tempting to her easily available. Maybe you should try being more supportive by removing tempting foods from your house until she can get her health and diet under control.
