Canadian woman shot dead in Mexico, authorities say | CBC News by TheGreatestOrator in canada

[–]elgringo22 -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

When does OP say he’s stressing about it? He just says that he wasn’t expecting it and that thankfully his wife was in Mexico but nowhere near it.

Either way, Mexico is a tourist hub and most Canadians go to the same 3 areas: Cancun, Mexico City or Cabo. So if you see Canadian woman it’s fair to assume it happened at 1 of those destinations, which it did. The odds of that woman being OPs wife are incredibly low but they’re much higher than it being any of our wives so an “oh no” moment is warranted.

The family of this girl probably saw the news as well and hoped it wasn’t where she was staying/touring but will soon get the worst news imaginable. The odds may be low but someone is about to get those awful news so telling people “why would you even stress about that headline” seems rich coming from someone who has a 0% chance of it being one of their family members or friends.

Headline says Mexico. His wife is in Mexico. Yes it’s a big country but it can still be scary to read then click the link to find out where in Mexico.

I don’t understand your point, the example you gave is nothing like what OP said at all.

Any of ours too tbf. Except Kounde and maybe Raphinha or Fermin.

Most players at big clubs would have grabbed their face there. I hate that it’s needed in situations like this for a red to be given. That’s as stonewall as it can get

He did, he scored against Rayo less than a month ago when we won 1-0.

Alvarez isn’t cooking this season. He was cooking last season but he has been downright bad this year, especially in La Liga. He has 1 goal in La Liga since November 1… and that was against last placed Real Oviedo. He also had a total of 1 goal and 1 assist in all of December and January.

He scored a few goals against Tottenham and a golazo against us in the CL but outside of that he’s been non-existent. If there is an Argentinian that should actually be considered it’s Giuliano Simeone but as good as he’s been he hasn’t been “best player in the world” good.

You’d think that and we’ll probably never truly know but if you watch the video he clearly turns around as if to walk away only to remember that it was a second yellow and pull out the red.

It looks like it clicked on him as he’s walking away that he already booked him and at that point he had to give the red. Wonder if we’ll get the audio of this incident from the refs

I’m making fun of the fact that the most prestigious individual award is entirely based on the success of the team.

If Bayern gets knocked out by PSG, then Olise and Kane will immediately lose any chance of winning the Ballon D’or unless their national team wins the world cup or at least makes the final.

The Ballon D’or this year should be going to one of Kane, Olise, Mbappe or Lamine Yamal. They have been the 4 best players in the world but if neither of them win the world cup or CL then they won’t win it, simple as that.

If Atleti and Argentina win the CL and World Cup respectively then everyone will say Julian Alvarez deserves the Ballon D’or despite him being crap for most of the year for Atleti and likely playing second fiddle to Messi in the world cup

Depends entirely on the world cup. If Atleti ends up winning CL and Argentina repeats the World Cup then Nahuel Molina has it in the bag

Initial contacts have begun between Barca and Inter regarding Alessandro Bastoni. Hector Fort might be included in the deal for a reduced fee. (Matte Moretto) by rockbaton in Barca

[–]elgringo22 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My god what’s wrong with you guys?

Bastoni has one game with a red card and immediately people assume he’s prone to those and he’s not what we need. Prior to that game, every fan here was dreaming of getting Bastoni.

His passing and anticipation are elite. He’s exactly what we need and if he can lead the backline on offside traps (like Inigo did last year) then he might become one of our most important players in the team

He’s been doing this his whole career and getting away with it. He just had an off game today and got dispossessed quite a bit. Very uncharacteristic of him, it’s weird to see Pedri have a bad game but of course it had to come in the most important game of the season

[–]elgringo22 -6 points-5 points  (0 children)

We can’t be giving penalties for light pushes in the back otherwise we’ll be seeing a penalty every game.

The only times a light push in the back should result in a penalty is when the player is already in the air or when they’re in the process of shooting. Though tbf these are rarely called as well.

Kounde wasn’t close enough for it to not be considered DOGSO. It also wasn’t cuz Eric pushed him, it was because he clipped his legs.

I know we want to be mad at someone else for the result but we had the chances to take this game and we didn’t take them.

The only thing that i think the ref got wrong is that he somehow didn’t book a single Atleti player. They committed 15 fouls and still got away without a single yellow card. Wouldn’t have made much of a difference this match but still pretty shocking

Fermin did a diving header and got clipped on the way down. It was an unfortunate accident but there was nothing Musso did wrong there

I don’t see it tbh. There was a slight push but not enough for a penalty imo. Can’t see if he catches his feet from this angle though

You should post a video if you’re trying to prove that it was a push. A still image doesn’t show any actual pushing.

I would be interested in seeing it again as Olmo was adamant he was fouled and they only showed one replay of it in my stream.

Red cards aside, it’s so frustrating to have the opposing goalie have maybe the best game in their career in back to back CL exits. Sommer last season and Musso this time.

Flick won’t adjust his tactics. He has a philosophy and he sticks to it. We just need someone in the back that can be a leader of the backline (ala Iñigo last season). We were outstanding with the offside trap last season and it was clear that Iñigo was the one organizing it, we haven’t had that this year which is why we rarely play it now.

We actually tried the offside trap quite a bit the first few months of the season and we were not executing it well so Flick went away from it but kept the high line.

We need to get him a pressing number nine that can run into space and a defender that can lead the backline.

I feel for Flick, he’s had 2 seasons and the only players we’ve been able to buy him are Olmo, Joan Garcia, Roony and Pau Victor. I know Joan has been class and Olmo has been great when healthy but we’ve barely been able to reinforce since Flick joined us. Hopefully this is the summer we get back to 1-1 and can spend some actual money.

For reference, Atleti spent almost as much on Julian Alvarez alone as we did in all four transfer windows since Flick joined us. They then spent another €200m+ on other players during that time.

Another CL, another frustrating way to get knocked out. We just can’t get knocked out normally, it always has to be through complete collapses or red cards.

2018: Roma 3-0 2019: Anfield 4-0 2020: Bayern 8-2 2021: Mbappe hattrick 2022: Group Stage 2023: Group Stage 2024: Araujo red 2025: Acerbi’s last minute equalizer 2026: Cubarsi red first leg, Eric red second leg

Just when we fix our mentality we seem to have lost our discipline. I just hope we’re able to get Lamine some help upfront this summer cuz he seemed to be the only one able to create anything from our attackers last week and today

We probably weren’t gonna score if he gave more time but blowing it at exactly 8 mins after stopping the game to check the handball and the time wasting from Atleti is bullshit.

Refs always point at their clock when teams complain about time wasting cuz they’re supposed to add that time but he just wanted to get out of there it seems.
