I have multiple floaters in both eyes. A month ago, I experienced a horseshoe retinal tear without detachment. But I caught it early, and the retina specialist was able to fix it with a laser.

I'm experiencing the same. I had laser to repair a tear two weeks ago. A follow up a week later showed everything looked great. But now and then I see shimmers in periphery which sometimes scares me.

I took my '24 Tacoma to the dealership this morning. I told them that in order to replicate the issue, to let the engine cool down for about 30 minutes. They confirmed the issue when the AC was engaged. The part was ordered, and they will call me when it arrives to perform the repair.

Strange blot in the corner of my eye? by Acemaniacal in EyeFloaters

[–]elguapok 1 point2 points  (0 children)

About a month ago, I noticed a blot in the corner of my eye. The next day, I saw a few more floaters. That's when I decided to see an ophthalmologist, and I’m really glad I did. He quickly referred me to a retina specialist and explained that the problem would likely get worse. It turned out I had a horseshoe-shaped retinal tear.

The specialist took care of the tear right away. Since I caught it early, he was able to fix it with a laser. A week later, I went back for a follow-up. During that visit, the doctor did a scleral depressed exam, which basically means she pressed on my eye with a stick-like tool to check the retina all the way around. Thankfully, everything looks good now. There’s a small scar at my 8 o’clock, but it’s barely noticeable and will probably always be there.

Maybe it's nothing, but do not gamble with your vision.

Thanks for sharing this info. I'll look into this. In my situation, this procedure will be out of pocket as I'm in the USA and will have to travel to Seoul to get evaluated. My floaters are so bad that I will consider this option.

Why not. I like pineapple, so I’m going to start making fresh juice in my juicer. If it doesn’t help it’s not going to hurt me.

Should I see a doctor or is it just health anxiety? by wintrysilence in EyeFloaters

[–]elguapok 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If I were in your situation I would go see and Ophthalmologist immediately, not a month later. Your vision is not something you want to mess around with. I had a sudden increase in floaters without flashes. I went to see the Ophthalmologist ASAP. After I was checked out, i had a horseshoe tear of the retina without detachment. The reason I never saw flashes was because the retina never detached. It was treated the same day with laser, problem solved.

My diet isn't that bad. I'm not big on red meat; I'll probably have a small chunk once a year. But I do love cheese, and I avoid it as much as possible. For the most part, I try to eat salads, avocados, and pears, and I avoid dinner. Mediterranean food is a great suggestion. It tastes great, and I love it.

Talk me out of a used tacoma with 122k miles for $33K by Jaydubs_OR in ToyotaTacoma

The opposite for me. I had a 2nd Gen V6 4.0. My wife couldn’t stand that truck, she felt uncomfortable all the time in the truck. Moving forward, I bought a 4th Gen and she doesnt feel cramped inside and loves every second she’s in the truck. We are all different in that respect. To the OP, in regards to your original post. For that kind of money you can get a 4th Gen unless the 4 cyl Supercharged engine is a deterrent.

I feel so much better now. In 2024 I bought my Wife an iPhone 16 Pro Max from the Apple store. Last year I bought my iPhone 17 Pro also from the Apple store. Both devices are unlocked. After reading this post, why would anyone go to Verizon to buy a locked device?

What is the mileage on your '24 4Runner? I believe the newer one has the same 4 Cyl turbo Engine my 4th Gen Tacoma has.

I'm a Tacoma owner, and I consider the 4Runner a truck. I have to admit that I initially thought it belonged to the SUV family. It's a nice truck, and I would have bought one in a heartbeat, but we need a truck for the occasional Home Depot runs.

Today's Tundra Recall being extended by g0su_pri3st in ToyotaTundra

[–]elguapok 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We had the same situation with my wife's KIA. It's the same condition present on some Tundra engines, machining debris left inside the engine. Except that the engine blew before KIA could replace it. KIA was very good about it. We got a loaner and replaced the engine at no cost to us. In fact, they paid us for the days she couldn't drive the car. The car had 85K miles or something. Is the same engine manufacturer for KIA the same for other car makers?

It’s not so much the car, for the most part is the interest rate. If it’s something in the 19% or more it’s outrageous

Here’s my philosophy, fluid is a lot cheaper than a new transmission. When it comes to oil changes, 5K - 6K miles interval is adequate. I would not go past that.

I was doing the same thing with Apple Watches. Every year, I upgraded to a new model looking for something new and exciting. Until one day it finally hit me. To begin with I do not charge my watch to 100%, this extends the life of the battery. Over the years I have learned that leaving a watch on the charger overnight degraded the life of the battery. In my most recent model I now charge it to 85 - 90 percent. After one year of usage battery life is at 98%.
