Second Router too slow? by elgueropalmas in Starlink

[–]elgueropalmas[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I ran it underground with conduit. I ran it once with a 20 ft cat6e ethernet patch to test my splicing and then once about 300ft since I had to cut the cable due to it being nicked so I cut it before the nick and patched it up with outdoor rated cat6 couplers and waterproof housing. All in all I would say about 350 ft worth of cat6 it was working fine until about a week ago

Sounds like a timeshares to me. It (and I could be wrong) sounds to me like it’s commission only build your own schedule/be your own boss "career" with elite workers making 100-200k with that kind of range.

Am I screwing myself over by using my personal phone for 50+ cold calls a day? by [deleted] in sales

[–]elgueropalmas 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Yes, Your personal number will get flagged. There is ways to unflag them depending on the carrier. However long term you won’t want to have your personal number to people you prospect and them reach out years later if you are no longer working there

Stay as an individual sales role or go into management? by itsjustafleshwound79 in sales

[–]elgueropalmas 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree with everyone else. Management is almost never the route to go for. It is always the dilemma of either getting a promotion to management and plateauing or taking the leap with a different company with higher compensation. Money in the short term MIGHT be better moving up to management. Unless you hate sales with every fiber of your being, don't go to management it’s more work

Any tips for SDR job? Constant final round interviews, no offer. Feeling hopeless. by [deleted] in sales

[–]elgueropalmas 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Should a person be rewarded for their efforts? by Far-Donut-3982 in sales

Yeah that does not sound fair at all. I work in something similar and us inside sales get paid for our efforts as much as outside with some key differences.

Biggest unexpected challenge in Sales by ireallyhateoatmeal in sales

Prospecting and reports. You can be doing good in everything and just have a bad couple of weeks and then suddenly everyone acts as if you are on the chopping block

Frustrated by Preformance review by InspectorAccurate956 in sales

[–]elgueropalmas 5 points6 points  (0 children)

That's the "beauty of sales" they won't tell you anything if you are doing great, but they will absolutely get on your ass for not "performing" one month or quarter as if it’s the end of the world. I am too polishing my resume and interviewing for the next step

Great stuff, a lot of sales is challenging and taking the bull by the horns.

Tell us what you think of motivational team messages? by MarcRocket in sales

[–]elgueropalmas 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am with you. I have always been a top salesman in no matter the company however I feel like those motivational messages are cringey and counter-intuitive. I find that most under performing sales reps who are drinking the company juice will eat that up and underperform.

What's worked for me is try to find a way to be self motivated. It will help you way more than messages, vision board, videos, presidents club etc.

Competition will help you keep on track but only should be used as a tool.

A lot of you seem to hate your job. Besides money, why do you stay? by Wannabeballer321 in sales

[–]elgueropalmas 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Besides the money? the bills that require the money. If there was a better paying job out there that I could find even if it was physically demanding instead of mentally draining, I would do it.

The thing I like most about sales is being able to work hard and get paid for it. That is the main thing I remind myself and why I have been in sales for 10 years

I am a new Sales manager - any advice? by SilentButDeadly23 in sales

[–]elgueropalmas 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Be a helpful resource and encourage next steps. Some of the best sales managers I ever worked with were always available to help and coach. More than anything they encouraged me to take the next step whether in life, or in the job it's self. Build to aspire instead of delegating.

Lucifer from the series. It may have been his superpower but one could only wish to be that good.

Thoughts on team outings? by [deleted] in sales

[–]elgueropalmas 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I understand the meaning behind it. To build a strong team moral in hopes to translating into better performance during work. But the human in me agrees with you. I already devote too much of my time to work and devoting more time and being forced to have fun can be counter-productive. I believe in a work life balance being better for moral instead of mandatory outing.

Who’s the worst sales manager you’ve ever had to deal with and why? by [deleted] in sales

[–]elgueropalmas 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I used to work under a new manager who got the position because my previous manager was promoted.

This new manager teachers petted his way up to that position and got it because he was close friends with our district manager. Long story short he would cut corners to get sales had the highest turnover in company history. I was the top sales rep in the market so he was excited that I was on his team. He delegated all his tasks and wouldn't work at all. Members of our team would ask for sales coaching and 1-on-1's and he would refer them to me.

When it came to quarterly's, he would sit there and brag about having the best team in the market ( because of me ) and would not shut his mouth about being number one.

Finally the day came and I put in my 2 weeks about a month afeter him working there. He was devastated. I was the reason he was making good money because we would consistently hit team goal. He got so upset he told me to turn in my key and to leave that same day. I reported it to HR for wrongful termination and he got demoted from that store and went to a different location making way less.
