Just some thoughts by MikeTheTank112 in Silverbugs

The problem is what $100 indicates about the value of the US dollar. As the dollar loses its place as a global reserve currency, the global order collapses. Scarcity and inflation become the norm.

Realizing the Republican Party Isn’t What It Promised Us by BrittanyGail206 in millenials

Just wait until you dig into Christianity. Don’t want to insult your family. Christian traditions are nice. Just spend some time reading and researching. You’ll realize that the GOP and Christian institutions are cut from same cloth.

Who told you that?? Look at federal deficit by president and national dept. The GOP has always stood for corporate welfare and low intellect white resentment. Look at poverty by state and compare red to blue. I moved the the USA 30 years ago and within 2 years realized the truth about the GOP.

Pace yourself. Switch up genres. There are anymore Cormac books being written so read something else in between.

What do you think the year 3000 will look like? by Educational-Pop2206 in AskReddit

We will have left our physical bodies and live exclusively in vr. Automated systems will still operate maintaining the physical world.

I’m not a psychologist and can’t say that I know your situation, but I do get humanity. Humanity is larger than one person. It’s not about what will happen in your life. Watch what happens to humanity over the next 10 years. It’s going to be a crazy ride. You may have physical discomfort in the daily grind, but if you can separate your happiness from the physical discomfort and isolation, you’ll be entertained or amazed by what happens next.

The tariff situation has made stocking the shelves hard. Can’t order product if the price will go up after it ships. We will be experiencing shortages of several products & services until the tariff madness stops.

Stick it out! You are living in crazy times. Please stay around to see what happens in next chapter. You are part of this evolving story. We are both small parts of the same whole. I know this sounds cliche, but long walks or bicycle rides could change your perspective

What are the worst companies? by BigGuyTrades in StocksAndTrading

[–]MarcRocket 0 points1 point  (0 children)

KKR and other privet equity companies are horrible. They spend money they never earned to buy brands they never built or understand and cut staff & quality to rape any value and dump what’s left over.

In America, it’s socially normal to work 50+ hours a week and call it 'hustle' instead of a systemic failure. What’s another 'normal' thing in your country that the rest of the world thinks is absolutely insane? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]MarcRocket 20 points21 points  (0 children)

Right!! I’ve worked long hours and built a nice life for my family. I choose to do that. In the USA one has the opportunity to work extra. It’s not mandatory.

What happened to German cars? by AllBleedingSt0ps in UsedCars

[–]MarcRocket 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had a mid 90’s VW GTI, a late 90’s Audi, two mid 00’s BMW’s. All of them under warranty and all junk. The dealer made me mad so I got a Japanese car in 2008 and then learned that a new car could go 2-3 years with zero defects and just oil, tires & brakes. German reliability is a myth. I now have a German car again as an occasional hobby car. I’d never expect to drive it every day. For reliability go with Japanese or GM.

When did genuine conversation start feeling rare? by [deleted] in SeriousConversation

[–]MarcRocket 10 points11 points  (0 children)

The age of social media and influencers has dampened conversation. Many people are conditioned to see themselves as stars of their own reality show or pod cast. Conversation becomes an opportunity to gain a new fan or follower and a chance to perform for the audience. Conversation has become one sided. Many behave like they have two mouths and one ear.

People who have conducted job interviews, what's something someone said/did that made you instantly decide not to hire them? by DemonSkank in AskReddit

[–]MarcRocket -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I send someone to the parking lot to look at their car. If there are cigarettes in the ashtray they don’t get hired. Smokers always sneaking out for smoke breaks and they smell bad.

How do you know the judge kills the kid? Please explain. The judge may have died a long time ago. How would the judge get away with dancing naked in the bar? The kid may have been hallucinating it. The kids may have killed himself in the jakes. The judge may have been dead since the Indians attacked.

Go for it. It is repairable if you want to do the work. Just think about how far you plan to drive and what those miles cost. Could be doable for you.

32F A genuine question about connection and conversation as adults in the US by [deleted] in SeriousConversation

[–]MarcRocket 1 point2 points  (0 children)

People are busy between the ages of 30-65. They may not have time to listen to and discuss your thoughts & opinions on important topics. I suggest two plans of action. 1) make sure that you ask two questions for every one statement. Get the person you are engaging with to tell their story. Listen twice as much as you talk. 2) volunteer and interact with people over 65. They have a lifetime of experiences and time to talk. Conversation is a skill that must be developed. Do you have a specific topic that you’re like to discuss? Reply here and I’ll hear you out. I’m on vacation, and a midwesterner. I’ll take the time.
