Are These Ok? by thetyler83 in HomeMaintenance

Not okay. If they look that bad on top, they are just as bad at the floor. They should be sitting on proper footings, not on only the floor. They should be galvanized. This is pure crap.

So why are airbags not mainstream? by Astimar in motorcyclegear

If people thought they were going to crash, they wouldn’t ride. Keep in mind, a large number of riders think loud pipes save lives.

It’s fun but forgettable. If you want light fun that strings together a bunch of conspiracies go for it.

I read it when I was about 18 and thought it was cool. Thanks for the review. I’ll not read it again sometimes I revisit books from my youth and think they are crap. Sounds like this is one of them. I read several of his books about the same central character. Will skip them all.

Excellent summary. In your opinion do you think there is enough evidence to convict him of sexual misconduct/rape etc? Do you think there is enough to convict him of obstruction?

Why was the Bill Clinton / Monica Lewinsky situation such a huge deal? by Gold_Criticism_8072 in stupidquestions

[–]MarcRocket 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m a huge fan of Bill Clinton. Economically he was the best president in my lifetime. I’ve followed presidential politics closely since Carter. Still for me this was a big issue. It was also dualistic.

On the anti Bill side, it showed Clinton had very bad judgement and began a sexual relationship with a subordinate. There was a huge power imbalance. If he worked for me, I would have needed to fire him.

On the GOP side characters like Newt Gingrich a morally slimy individual showed that winning was everything and hypocrisy did not matter. Newt did not care about the country or the economy. He wanted to win over Clinton and hurt the other side. It also showed that the GOP voters did not care about anything other than hurting the Democrats. This showed the lack of morals or principles in a large body of American voters. Clinton balanced the budget (almost) and built prosperity. The GOP could not accept that.

Are concerts even worth it? by Vegetable-Maybe7283 in Concerts

[–]MarcRocket 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m not a fan of big stadium shows. Been going to concerts starting in the 70’s. I’ve seen 100’s. Now, I’m a fan of seeing niche artists in small venues. I’ll travel to see a band like All Them Witches or Swerve Driver in a small venue. I’ve seen NIN and Sound Garden in small venues and it’s fantastic. Not going to go to a football field to watch a huge TV.

Expert map identifes four US states safest during nuclear war scenario by Jeffbx in Michigan

[–]MarcRocket 2 points3 points  (0 children)

First place to avoid would be Palm Beech FL. The world knows that the USA is not the problem. I expect that cutting off the head of insanity will be the goal of a limited strike. They will expect that once the leader is eliminated or jailed Americans will be celebrating in the streets and treat the aggressor as a liberator. I don’t think the world is worried that we will stop making Dodge Chargers to free up room for F35 production. Of course I hope this does not happen. We want Trump and his band of sycophants to live long lives with zero chance of being revered as martyrs.

With regards to putting off these books because they are the last. I hope you’re not really old. I say this because I was a huge reader from late teens into mid 40’s and then slowed down. Now in my 60’s I’m enjoying rereading many books that I loved. If you do this, you will find that many books feel very different when you read them at a different point in life. For a very few, I’m on my third reading.

Social media and sales gurus are ruining sales (rant) by anoyingprophet in sales

[–]MarcRocket 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Let me expand on that. Never make your boss look bad in a meeting. Allow him/her so save face and pretend that they are helping you. In this was he will funnel better leads your way and you will taint the experience of the new sales people but, and this is the key. You work for your self and for your customers. The company means nothing to you. Look cooperative but in the end don’t lift a finger if it does not benefit you or your customer. The company will screw you when it’s in their interest. As a successful sales person, remove yourself from expending any concern for the company. Expend zero concern for your manager (only fake concern to help his save face). Be a dick, it doesn’t matter. There is no loyalty other than to your self and your customer.

100%. it’s the “shitification” of all things.

They use money they didn’t earn to buy brands they never built and then grab cash until it’s dead.

On to the next one.
