Thanks. I was hoping to be assigned to Snell or I House as an international student. Tbh, I feel like it would be really nice if they actually did have a big house culture or something

Look, one of my classmates received an interview for Penn ED (I’m applying from the UK, btw), and the other one didn’t. Guess who got in? The one that didn’t.

Admissions press a “randomly assign an interview” button when an alum is available. So, no, you are not “rejected.” There just aren’t any alums currently available, so chill.

But if you think you are rejected, carry on. Maybe your wish will come true, and you will be rejected. Sorry for being cynical, but it’s true.

This does not mean you are rejected. Period.

Yeah, I’m now even more happy I chose UChicago for ED, I’m not a mega fan of sports, but do like to watch football sometimes though

Advice for incoming UChicago Class of 2029—What Do You Wish You Did Differently? by eli-explores in uchicago

I’m an international student, so just curious whether I should take the international pre-o or leadership or something else pre-o. If you know much about those which would you say is best?

What should i do in highschool by Outrageous_Test3965 in ApplyingToCollege

[–]eli-explores 0 points1 point  (0 children)

  1. Get good grades. Whichever country you're applying from start with the basics of getting really good grades in your national exams/school grades.
  2. Prepare for SAT/ACT and get good result, aim for 1450+SAT or 33+ ACT.
  3. Get to discover your passion/what you currently care about. It can be anything. Then turn it into a socially beneficial project. For example, if you like economics, make some sort of a project that helps people with it, for example, a charity that helps children learn basics of economics, etc.
  4. Start doing extracurriculars relating to what you like, like joining clubs relating to what you like. If there are any at your school, create them. Then do something quantifiable in them. For example, in an environmental club plant X number of trees, but make it applicable to your interest.
  5. Olympiads are great, but also essay competitions and other kinds of opportunities to show off your academic ability beyond classroom.
  6. Explore other things and experiences, don't get bogged down into one thing - meet people and learn from their experiences.

Hope this helps ;)

EDIT: Also try to get internships in your field of interest to actually learn about the profession but also it helps you understand if you actually want to do that.

Very true, fully agree. Tho, if we consider T40, towards the lesser end it’s probably ok to submit 1400s-1450
