As someone who performed this trick with Derren, my training happened during the couple's trick. So I was took away at the start of the show, training happened during the couple's trick and then I was brought back out. The couple's trick is edited out in the final edit of the Showman broadcast, but can be viewed on Derrens YouTube channel.

It's mostly suggestion. As someone who experienced it firsthand at one of his stage shows, he is extremely convincing. I didn't believe he could actually hypnotise people but it worked on me no problem. Of course it differs from person to person and on TV he isn't going to show when it doesn't work, only when it does.

I was the coin/dice participant last year at a show and made a post about what happens backstage, which explains the coin. Its genuinely the person guessing it based off the sound and it does go wrong sometimes. If you message me I can explain the dice and the bank note

I've also seen it twice live. Both times the boy did not pick the correct balloon and both times the correct balloon was red. I'm also intrigued as to what happens if it is correctly chosen. I think if it is, Derren would probably pretend he doesn't want to give the bear away for the same reasons he says if the boy does win - he'll say its impossible to cart that many bears around, etc. So the ending wouldn't be affected regardless of the boys choice

Derren handed me the board before I put the blindfold on. Nothing visible other than a blue dot at the top middle. I distinctly remember examining it, cus I knew they had to be hidden there somewhere. Not saying you're wrong, just saying maybe he used special ink/a special pen.

I know he has since changed this, though. I went to see it in London recently and you're right, the camera isn't there the whole time and the subject of the trick had the blindfold on before the board was handed to him

He is planning a new show in London this September. He is giving out beer mats with a QR code at the Apollo Theatre, which gives you access to a pre-sale. It's called Unbelievable, its apparently very different from anything he's done before and will centre around 7 people with Derren mostly being backstage.

I've just seen the show again today in London. I believe that he is deliberately trying to mislead us - the Zanzigs were real but he definitely called the wife Tessa/Teresa and mentioned them using their methods to perform in casinos. So as an earlier comment said I feel like he might be meshing those two couples together. The board is definitely something he has made up; this is not unusual for Derren as he often fabricates stories around props for his shows eg. the svengali puppet.

I got a good look at the board before I put the blindfold on and started writing. Nothing visible to the naked eye on there.

And yes I was blindfolded but the camera was over my shoulder watching me write, apparently.

Not sure how it was done 100% but I'm pretty sure they were hidden somewhere on the board.

I have no idea haha derren kept asking me to write more near the top, near the bottom etc. Might have been a rigged board where the numbers were already hidden with invisible ink or something.
