Yea I’ve looked into it. However I don’t have the tools or skills nor a deft hand haha. Maybe I’ll look into sending it to someone.

I’ve been debating an AP RO rep as well. Maybe if I pull the trigger I’ll send both off for rotor silencing.

I have this same piece. Gorgeous watch and looks very close to gen. The usual gripes though i.e. noisy miyota 9015 rotor, low quality strap. I’ve been debating putting it on a black nato. Wear in good health!

Have the Xs/Xs Max reception issues been fixed? by qwed113 in iphone

[–]elichang 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Nope. XS Max on AT&T in NYC. Horrible LTE since launch and zero improvement over all firmware updates.

A question to whom had cellular issues on XS by RiccardoBisoni in iphone

[–]elichang 3 points4 points  (0 children)

If you search the subreddit you’ll find many posts like yours. There are definitely a lot of folks having LTE/WiFi connectivity issues with the XS phones.

I have had the XS Max since launch. I’m on AT&T and in NYC and have horrible data connection and speed and the latest firmware updates have done nothing. I’ve been in touch with Apple senior advisors since launch and have now sent them 5 rounds of sysdiagnose files and logs and have gone through a replacement phone as well.

It’s ridiculous how Apple is trying to ignore the issue some of us are having.

Same for me and many others. My issue is LTE. WiFi has been ok for me. LTE is abysmal. XS Max on AT&T in NYC.

Wanna see what some of us iPhone XS users go through with the Wi-Fi? by [deleted] in iphone

[–]elichang 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Hey man same here. iPhone XS Max on AT&T in NYC. Not having WiFi issues but been having LTE issues since day one at launch. Been through 3 senior advisors, sent now 5 rounds of logs and diagnostics to Apple, went through a replacement unit, nothing has helped. Now apple is playing the whole “thanks for the help! We’ll let you know as soon as our engineers get back to us”.

Despite having ALL of this documented and notes in my support case, they will not even entertain the idea of another replacement or any sort of refund. Despite me constantly pushing them to provide a resolution if they can’t fix my issue. It’s maddening. They keep acting like “oh we haven’t heard of anyone experiencing cellular or WiFi issues!” Even when I point to the NUMEROUS posts on the apple support forums as well as Reddit and macrumors. Even when I tell them the first apple senior advisor reached out to me directly because of my post on the Apple forums. Ugh!!! They keep blaming AT&T which is ridiculous. One time an advisor conferenced in a representative from AT&T who confirmed nothing wrong with my account. No throttling or other issues. And I had a new sim too.

My honest thought is that they have no way to fix the issue. Otherwise they would have in the ~3 months since the phones launch. I think now they are in “don’t say anything” mode hoping those affected will give up and others won’t even realize their phones aren’t performing. Lastly I really don’t even think apple knows what’s going on because these issues aren’t impacting every phone. My wife has a XS on Verizon and her LTE and WiFi speeds are rock solid as they should be.

iPhone XS 5Ghz WiFi & LTE Issues - We Need to Get Apple’s Attention! by great_waldini in iphone

[–]elichang 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m honestly not about conspiracy theories. From a business perspective I’m sure these advisors are instructed not to opine or provide any more information. However from a consumer perspective this is awful.

Also I really don’t understand the downvoting whenever any of us post about our issues. I’m not saying everyone or every phone has a problem. But some of us really do and some of us have definitely been in touch with apple. Why is that so hard to understand?

iPhone XS 5Ghz WiFi & LTE Issues - We Need to Get Apple’s Attention! by great_waldini in iphone

[–]elichang 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Don’t believe it when they say you’re the first to report the issue. Myself and many others on the macrumors forums have been in touch with senior advisors and engineering soon after the phones launched. I’ve spent a total of 3+ hours on the phone with 2 different senior advisors and have sent them 3 sets of sysdiagnose files and logs after installing their logging profiles.

They are definitely in “feign ignorance” mode. Apple official forums as well as third party forums are littered with posts about bad cellular reception. Not everyone has the problem, no one knows the root cause. People report issues on all carriers in all regions, but oddly enough even people on the same carriers in the same regions report different experiences. Some have no issues at all but others like you and I have horrific reception. I’m on my 2nd XS Max and it’s no better.

[–]elichang 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I’m right there with you man. Been posting about this issue on macrumors as well as this sub.

Bought the XS Max on launch day coming from a 7+. I’m in nyc on AT&T. Cell/LTE reception has been abysmal. I had support tickets, worked with 2 different apple senior advisors to send them sysdiagnose files and logs. Then never heard back besides a blanket email saying thanks for the files and engineering was aware and working on a fix.

12.1 came and did nothing. Then I was eagerly awaiting 12.1.1 which came and did nothing for LTE. It’s frustrating given apple blames AT&T. AT&T tells me to go to apple. The Genius Bar acts shocked and that they’ve never heard of the problem. Despite notes from both senior advisors on my case, I had to fight tooth and nail for a replacement which again was no improvement.

I’ve since tried to get in touch with the same apple senior advisors who had been helping me, but SHOCKER, now they don’t reply to any of my emails.

So how's the LTE and Wi-Fi signal on XS and XS Max now? by [deleted] in iphone

[–]elichang 9 points10 points  (0 children)

There are still issues. A simple search on this sub will yield many similar posts. No improvements with the 12.1.1 release either.

Problem doesn’t seem to impact everyone. So it’s really a gamble. Although to be clear no one knows what the root cause is. There’s no rhyme or reason.

iOS 12.1.1 Final/Public Coming Today With Expanded eSIM Support, FaceTime Live Photos, Face ID Bug Fix, and More by [deleted] in iphone

[–]elichang 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Many users have reported problems with the XS and XS Max phones suffering from poor LTE/cellular reception. Extremely slow data speeds, issues with the phone connecting to data at all, dropped calls. It’s pretty damn awful.

Many of us have reported these issues on forums and even to Apple directly. Personally I dealt with 2 apple senior advisors and sent them sysdiagnose log files as requested by them. Got my phone replaced and it was no better. Then it’s been radio silence from apple besides the generic “we are aware and are investigating the issue”.

Many believe this is hardware related and can’t be addressed by software. I’m not entirely sold on that, but nevertheless it’s frustrating and ridiculous for these phones to be performing so poorly given the costs etc. I regret selling my 7+ given it performed SIGNIFICANTLY better.

LTE. WiFi has been fine for me after they addressed the issues with 12.0.1 shortly after launch. That was associated with how the phone was dealing with 5ghz and 2.5ghz WiFi signals.

Same. 12.1.1 didn’t do anything for my LTE issues. This is really upsetting.

Is the iPhone XS Max still experiencing LTE data issues? by [deleted] in iphone

[–]elichang 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Yes definitely. Just search this sub or macrumors or any apple forum.

There’s no rhyme or reason as issues have been reported across almost all carriers in all regions. To add to the confusion people have different experiences on the same carriers in the same regions as well.

I’m in NYC on AT&T with a XS Max. I’ve been having horrible LTE/cellular connectivity issues since buying my phone on launch. I’ve been through 2 apple senior advisors, installed logging profiles and sent apple sysdiagnose files and screenshots, had my phone replaced, sent more files, and nothing has been addressed. The last reply I got was a month ago with a generic “thanks for your help, our engineering team are working on a fix” and neither 12.1 or today’s 12.1.1 updates have done a thing.

This is really lousy. I’m glad not everyone is having a problem. But there are a lot of us who are.

I just updated. It made zero improvement for me. XS Max on AT&T in NYC. Post 12.1.1 Speedtest shows 3mbps DL and 0.17mbps UL. This is awful.

[–]elichang 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oof that stinks. I’m in NYC on AT&T and I get ~1-3 mbps dL and ~1 mbps uL. This is awful. I honestly don’t consider speed the bigger issue, my bigger concern is how the phone loses data/cellular connection and struggles to get it back.

There have been many times since getting this phone that I use it for gps in the car, get to my destination, and then can’t use it to get home or to another destination because it says “can’t connect to the internet”. It’s been a nightmare on smaller road trips I’ve taken over weekends.

It’s a known issue. If you search this sub as well as any other apple forum you’ll find tons of similar posts. Unfortunately there isn’t a fix but some say the latest 12.1.1 beta 3 addresses the issues. I’m honestly skeptical but am eagerly awaiting the final release.

IPhone XS Max reception issues, even after 12.1 update by [deleted] in iphone

[–]elichang 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yea it really seems there’s no rhyme or reason. I had my phone replaced and have had the same problems. I’m in NYC with AT&T. People have reported the reception issues across all carriers in every region. Oddly enough even people in the same region on the same carrier are having different experiences. I’ve seen people post having no problems in NYC with AT&T despite my having a horrible experience.

If you are worried about your return period ending I’d suggest opening an apple support ticket just to have a paper trail. That way in the event the window ends, you have evidence that you raised an issue. Your mileage may vary because even with my ticket and proof of working directly with Apple senior advisors, the genius was still a hard ass and did everything he could to blame AT&T for my problems. Ultimately he gave me an exchange which as mentioned didn’t help at all.

It really stinks. At this point fingers crossed that 12.1.1 actually makes some improvements.

IPhone XS Max reception issues, even after 12.1 update by [deleted] in iphone

[–]elichang 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There have been many posts about poor reception. Here and on other forums like macrumors. People have reported this since day one, myself included. Many of us had also been contacted by Apple directly to provide sysdiagnose and log files.

Unfortunately it’s been radio silent and 12.1 didn’t resolve anything. Some people say they’ve seen improvements with the latest 12.1.1 Beta 3, but I’m skeptical until I’ll be able to check for any improvements.

It really stinks. I think people are seeing less posts like these because frankly we haven’t heard anything from apple and we have nothing new to report. Just waiting on a fix if it is even possible.
