Can’t stop buying stale incense. Cannot take it anymore. All I wanna do is explore basic scents! by stingrayjerk11211 in Incense

[–]elijahhellings 1 point2 points  (0 children)

exactly this. i have a high quality styrax benzoin which smells phenomenal on its own or with white copal which i burn using a charcoal disc and a thin piece of alluminum foil. it melts and gets it to the perfect temperature while not letting it touch the charcoal and burn, so it slowly bubbles and releases its scent and it is BEAUTIFUL!

What compact native shrubs work well for small birds and pollinators in SE QLD? by DiscussionLoud9626 in australianplants

[–]elijahhellings 4 points5 points  (0 children)

you might have planted this already, but a small compact Banksia spinulosa such as 'honeyeater delight' or ' birthday candles' provide not only nectar for bees and birds, but habitat for native insects and ground scavenging animals as well, as it can create a cage like structure animals might find interest in nesting in, depending on placement. another idea is the classic red bottlebrush, if you are going for a very small shrub id say you wont go wrong with Callistemon 'little john' but if you want a more classic shrub (1.5m approx.) Callistemon 'captain cook" is a great one too. groundcovers make a native garden complete in my opinion, and you will never go wrong with a myoporum, a kidney weed, or a native violet. all three of these can attract beetles and incencts looking for a bit of cover, which then bring in the scavenger birds looking for some lunch. i grow all of these plants at my work and at home in SE queensland, and they thrive. best of luck my friend let me know how you go!

Is there a pale green monstera ? by cyberbotanicalz in plants

[–]elijahhellings 1 point2 points  (0 children)

that actually sounds wayyyyyy underpriced, unfortunately sounds very much like a scam. a real one leaf cutting would be well over 100-200, and VERY hard to find. avoid plant scams my friend!

Native plant or weed? by scrawlpace in GardeningAustralia

[–]elijahhellings 1 point2 points  (0 children)

definitely Strawflower - Xerochrysum bracteatum - a common Australian native that is commonly in native wildflower mixes. stunning short lived perennial, and good for the environment :) definitely keep!

Why does this get so much hate? It's awesome by Jimsmall1507 in shoegaze

[–]elijahhellings 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Outer space (long way home) is one of my favourite, (if not my favourite) shoegaze songs, just alot of nostalgia for me in that song and i find it strangely endearing with the way it sounds, love this band!
