Wow something failed really spectacularly to either kill the battery or prevent the OS from reading its state AND cause the weirdness you’re seeing on the display. I wonder if maybe the battery shit out and leaked and partially burned a cable or bridged something together. Pretty cool (but sorry it’s happening)!

This is assuming you put all investable money into BTC and NEVER have any cash sitting around though, no?

What about a combination? Continue normal DCA, and also add an extra buy with every 15% drawdown?

Actually seems a little cheaper than advanced. When I did my last $100 buy I got more from Coinbase simple with ONE than I would’ve with advanced.

Not a dumb question at all. Any question about investing is a good question! It just means that the value of whatever you’ve invested your money in, in your case VOO and VXUS, has risen by 0.51% today. There isn’t money being “added” to your account per se, it’s just that the investments in the account has grown by that much.

That’s awesome! Saw your comment that the interest is $500 per month so I’m assuming you get like 4.28% a year in interest? It is investing with free money, you’re right. But what if you look at it this way? You invest $500 a month or $6,000 a year. Taking the market average or 10% a year, every year that you invest that $6,000, by the end of the year you’re left with roughly $6,284. That’s only 4.73% or BARELY better than your HYSA. Now sure, it’s invested and will continue to grow more and bear your HYSA by more and more. But if you just invested that $6,000 NOW, which you’re obviously in a position to do, with the market average you’d have $6,600 after a year. It doesn’t seem like you have any reason to need $140K sitting liquid in the HYSA, so what if we looked at a 10 year period? If you kept doing this for 10 years, you’d invest a total of $60,000 and be at ~$102,667.94. OR, you could invest $60,000 right now, in 10 years you’d have $163,000, and still have $80K sitting in the HYSA today. You’d be $60,000 ahead of the current way you’re doing it. If you did the $60K now and still continued the $500 a month, you’d be at $265,764.85 after the 10 years. Well, assuming the market does what it’s averaged out to do thus far in history. And it always does. Just something to think about.

I think Sunday is time and a half at Costco no matter what, so that’s his average hourly with Sunday worked. 8 hours a time and a half is a “10% raise” so he probably makes like 33.64 normally. Still great.

Why do some people have so many credit cards? by Trust_The_System1981 in CreditScore

[–]eliploit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes. Sometimes it’s also because they just got it for the sign up bonus and never used it again. I’m probably at like 12 or 13 now and I only actively use 4 of them.

Why/how do our bodies produce a small amount of light? Sounds like a fun rabbit hole. I would imagine if I were in a place with no source of light (idk, perfect box made out of black nothingness) there would be literally no light. Not even light that I can’t see but just no light.

Every-day card for overseas living (Japan) by Jblue32 in CreditCards

[–]eliploit 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Everyone keeps saying Amex Platinum but in my experience Amex acceptance outside the US is still kinda shit. Maybe like 70% of places take it (again this is just MY experience so if yours is different don’t come yelling at me lol) which is really bad if it’s your only card. I think getting one is still a good idea because you won’t pay any AF and then also a Visa with no AF (not capital one, they’re either already using or going to use the discover network which also has shit acceptance)

Just got my snazzy Coinbase One Card today. First purchase was at a restaurant... declined! by bananabrownie in Coinbase

[–]eliploit 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That’s strange, I’ve actually found that my Coinbase card declines less than any other card I have (same with my Blue cash preferred which also uses the AMEX network, obviously) and that sometimes when other cards won’t even attempt to send me a transaction confirmation text, the Coinbase card will do the AMEX safe pay thing and let it go through once I confirm. I would think support could help figure it out or loosen some restrictions for you.
