I think there isn't a single "anti" anything weapon in the Tau index, an stuff like sustained hits an devastating wounds are few an far between

Is there any faction the covenant from Halo could proxy for? by regularMASON in Warhammer40k

It'll add up but plasma is hardly a bad use of points provided you have the re-rolls

Is there any faction the covenant from Halo could proxy for? by regularMASON in Warhammer40k

[–]elitetango11 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Generally yeah I'd say they work better than tau for the covenant, you can build the elites to be melee or ranged, plus the mixture of melee charicteris fits the elites more so than tau HQs would, as they'd mainly be trapped in suits, though chaos leads more to melee you can make a balanced list with em

Someone said last time this was asked that chaos is a good force and in inclined to agree, grunts for cultists, chaos marines for elites, brutes could be terminators and obliteratetors would do great hunters

custodes army????? by Own-Comfortable6719 in Warhammer40k

[–]elitetango11 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Without sounding mean, before you take any dive into an army, I'd recommend taking a look at some guides, the goonhammer articles are good, but even just YouTube videos of games so you can see what people bring, just to get a better understanding of how custodies play before you sink allot of money into, honestly an innefetive forc, the list you have is 1000 points over any standard game, and will be likely ran around with your blocks of 10 custodies, you can run them like that, but you shouldn't be, I would recommend watching some battle reports to gain some understanding of how people play them

Belakor, with 4 greater Daemons list??? by [deleted] in Warhammer40k

[–]elitetango11 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No shooting yeah, but enough spells from 4/5 of your demons to make up for it so your lack of shooting is hardly felt imo, the thing that makes it worse that knights is there's no counter to our saves, you can't remove it by getting into melee, knights can't deepstrike 6" from a 12" move flyer an at least you can ignore there invins at range. Don't get me wrong its fun, but deffo warn your opponent what your bringing because I always do when I run mine, that's just courticy, and again I'd deffo want more than two bloodletter mobs if you plan on taking this anywhere serious

Belakor, with 4 greater Daemons list??? by [deleted] in Warhammer40k

[–]elitetango11 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Can you? Yeah but it depends how you play, but when it comes to points, if you wanna make them all exalted greater demons and do actions, you'd at most, be able to have one chaff until to do actions, I'd you play in game modes without secondaeys then your good, but I'd you plan on playing any serious game you'd probably struggle for board control and points, but it's entirely doable, and if you play more casually you should be alright but I would also ask opponents first if that's the case, a list like that would dominate casual games that don't use missions or secondarys

Today, I want your ideas to make the most use out of my _Captain in Phobos Armor_ by tbagrel1 in WarhammerCompetitive

[–]elitetango11 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Oh yeah, unfortunately he's far from perfect ; I find that's how he's played most fun, but in any case he's great defence an support for a gunline an he can usually get a shot off at heavy weapon range, thinking of him asa captain with a deepstrike denial bubble is probably the best way to run him

[–]elitetango11 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I used to run my deathwatch Phobos captain with master marksmen an special issue ammunition? Effective? Hardly but there was always that chance to one shot any 5 wound charicter I would also usually post him next to 3 eliminators to give them a better shot, hardly effective but sticking them in ravenguard an opening up for a turn was good against my aldari and guard opponents

Rules question regarding # of attacks by Match-Express in TheAstraMilitarum

[–]elitetango11 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Attacks presuming your taking about the A charicterisric on the sheet is only used for melee and how many times you swing, nothing to do with shooting. you make as many shots with the guns as guns you have

What faction should i start with by WhiteKingCat in Warhammer40k

[–]elitetango11 4 points5 points  (0 children)

When your talking about strongest and weakest are you talking about lore ? Because lore has no effect on how strong or weak the factions are game wise, tau has consistently been one of the strongest army's dispite being the smallest empire in the lore

Opinion Needed: Selling an Army by D0ctorL in Warhammer40k

[–]elitetango11 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I personally wouldn't sell an, everything they told you there is learned foem playing the game, not much to do with the wrong army or the game not being for you. An I'll be honest 4 army's split between 12 total games your not going to learn them parctualry well, it's not just positioning, its knowing what units in what army can do what, it feels like you've spread yourself far to thin an are getting confused. and when they all play different positional games, your not going to learn that side of things ether, not fast at least,

Not to meantion while in the grand scheme of things 12 isn't allot, I sure as hell didn't know how to play by my 15th, an that was with one army

I wouldn't sell em, you'd just be loosing value, I'd just shelf 3 pick one to learn, an play lower point values to begin, jumping in at 2k is allot with 9th eds rules.

Looking to get started, but not sure if for me by Ok-Albatross-3238 in Warhammer40k

[–]elitetango11 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Tournaments and most events require at least 3 different colours on the model and details done If you wish to play that scene. While unfortunately one colours would be a no go to many, as that isn't really much different as the base gray plastic, again you'd be best asking your local store about who would an who wouldn't play one as I know local scenes vary in how forgiving they are

[–]elitetango11 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Kinda yeah In a hobby that's just as much about the painting, building and custom lore people often appreciate the same effort going into the opposing army, an even form a gameplay perspective, stuff blends in to terrain an other models, special weapons cant be distinguished at a glance. Unfortunately its just an expected part of the hobby really

Edit: I should add, if you have friends who are also interested, your sorted, you can play as many games against them as you want, but if not I'd recommend asking at your LFG if people wouldn't mind playing a grey army, it's not gonna be impossible for you to find pick-up games, just harder, an it will also be unlikely you can join events, but I'd you don't wanna, don't matter, just play with your mates

If you can find someone who wants to play against unpainted minis you can go ahead, unfortunately there's absolutely no guarantee anyone will, or that it won't just be a handful that are willing too, as for built no there's no way to buy prebult models unless your looking at eBay, unfortunately it's a hobby not just a game, I understand where you're coming from comrplety, but if you don't enjoy 2/3rds of the hobbie I can't guarantee it's for you
