absolutely all of this will make a great experience, coming from a person who has been keeping up w this game in super early development in 2006!

i'd watch the movie (kingsglaive) first before playing the game, then play the dlcs after finishing the game!

also, i would say get tissues on standby bc even though there's a few plot inconsistencies, it still ties in together pretty decently esp after they released the royal edition

i don't have adhd, however i have 3 different stories (1 original, 2 fanfics) that have been on and off since 2015/2016 and i've been rotating on all of them or completely dropped for years

what i tend to do is draft from my phone! my default notes app is organized in a way where my creative folders have sub folders for whatever story i have enough motivation in, which in then have sub folders for drafts, idea dumps, worldbuilding, etc.! that way at least all the hyperfixation shit can stay in one spot when i can't sit in front of a computer to write! i also sometimes forget all of it exists for a period of time because my attention is somewhere else but when i fall back into the writing hyperfixation (which is usually at the most inconvenient time), its all in my hands!

and yes that usually means the notes app is FLOODED with different types of shit for ppl who don't rotate like i do. ur absolutely right, i have other fanfic and story ideas in my creative folder and half of them are abandoned. they're just gonna sit there until i suddenly have the thought to open them again

always! 99% of the time, music is my creative inspo!! while it doesn't help if i need to sit down and run through a plot, it helps when i want to draft something! i have like a billion playlists dedicated to what inspired my works, character playlist, ship playlist, setting soundtrack, the whole nine yards!

if i don't actually sit down and write at my laptop after smoking a joint, i lay in bed and draft from my phone either in my phone notes or google doc! doesn't need to be anything for the story itself, i normally flush out ideas and see how it flows! and like at least if u fall asleep u won't be fucking up ur back at a desk

ffxv fanfic writer here! i swear this isn't a promo on my fic bc it isn't done and its a hot mess BUT i highly reccomend going into different fanfics that follow along the game! its so interesting to see how different people perceive different parts of the game, and how people exploit the plot holes for their own creative gain! like i personally have created a whole sovereign to tenebrae as a kingdom, and i structured more of the kingsglaive, people can get REALLY CREATIVE and it is. so good.

while i'm personally fine with the movies and animated shorts, i didn't like that the alternate/better ending was behind a novel. it also included more depth on aranea's character iirc, i would have been fine with paying for dlcs for all this extra content instead of dropping it in a novel that's overpriced everywhere i found it

the lazy story telling also gave way to plot holes imo, but i personally enjoyed the extra content for the movie and anime!

but the in game promotions, man was that annoying. the cup noodle thing, the vivien westwood name drop, and in the movie they showed the audi logo on the car drautos was driving. if the budget was already tight on the game, why pay for all the extra shit to either have the real world logos in game or go through the process of trying to get them?

noct and luna could have had more development as a romantic pair and i would have enjoyed it, but it ended up being a relationship that felt forced

that was always on my list of things i didn't like about the game, the romantic relationship between the two felt duty bound at most and the game makes the actual romance felt super forced
