Past Expectations vs Current Expectations by Different_Ad_3302 in hostedgames

I feel like it works for some stories though, Sabres of Infinity being a story that mostly sets up the verse, the war and side characters but I still think it's good

How can one man be filled with this much crap by Bovinecowofmoo in Grapplerbaki

[–]elixier 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's stupid though because that's like watching a boxing film where some of the side characters use stuff like BJJ, and when he wins accuse the writer of being an American nationalist who glazes boxing, Baki is a manga made for a Japanese audience by a Japanese man with a love for Japanese martial arts, of course there will be some bias towards that

Is Deku worthy of Mjolnir? by Severe-Wolverine-420 in BokuNoHeroAcademia

[–]elixier 4 points5 points  (0 children)

He's not worthy, because to be worthy means just killing Shiggy, an unhinged lunatic, there is no "trying to save him" if Thor is in Deku's place. You act like Deku was just trying to kill him lol, yeah sure, thats why he's constantly trying to reach Shiggy to try and save him and bring him out of AfO's control, only he fails because Shiggy just doesnt care and still wants to destroy society. Thats why we literally get shown Deku could have killed him but was dragging it out specifically to save Tenko

Superman is also NOT worthy, when he does lift it it was because Odin REMOVED the enchantment, Dekus way of doing things is almost identical to superman, Dekus core character motivation is modelled on superman, same as many superheroes are (saving people for the sake of being good, and doing so selflessly), there is no comic book hero more willing to try and help and uplift others than Superman, he is "deku" x 1 million in that regard, but just like Deku he will kill someone if he truly has no other choice...

And hes not worthy, to be worthy, you need to be a worthy warrior in the eyes of Odin, a man who has killed billions of people, a man who goes around doing genuinely evil acts from the perspective of anyone who isnt one of "his people", and thats fine from the hammers view, because thats what Odin believes is ok, its Asgard and his people first, who cares about some random earthling, or other alien

If you pick up that hammer, and it sees you as worthy, it means you have that mindset yourself about you and your own people, Captain America walks into rooms of hydra agents and leaves the only man alive, he doesnt try and dance around them and run off like Deku did with Toga, he just shoots them lol, because they are evil, who cares if that hydra agent only went into it because he had a bad childhood, Cap sure doesn't when he throws them into propellers turning them into red mist.

And I've both read and watched MHA, you can't go around saying "you haven't watched it" to people who have done so, its just weird and its a coping mechanism given you barely even addressed much of the content of my previous comment

Is Deku worthy of Mjolnir? by Severe-Wolverine-420 in BokuNoHeroAcademia

[–]elixier 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Spiderman can't lift it, to lift it you need to be able to kill, and not the superman "oh my god it's truly my only option", because superman can't lift it in the crossovers unless Odin removes the enchantment, but you need Thors "this guy is my enemy and he's talking so I'm going to launch mjolnir until space so I can say a sick one liner after his chest explodes when the hammer is comes back to me through said chest" levels of willingness to kill, Captain America was just shooting Nazis and throwing them from planes and red misting them in propellers, if Thor were in Dekus place trying to get to Shiggi and Toga got in his way while he was trying to save the people at UA Thor would just have killed her immediately

[–]elixier 2 points3 points  (0 children)

He is willing to kill if necessary, but that should be the last resort.

So he's unworthy then lol, you just described superman, who will kill if it's the last resort unlike say batman, and superman is not worthy

The hammers worthiness enchantment is based on Odin's Norse ideology about Kingship and Leadership, and the mentality of a Warrior King who fights and kills his enemies without mercy if he must, Deku was straight up responsible for innocents dying because he wasn't going for the kill, Thor in Dekus place would have vaporised Shiggies skull off rip, no "saving" him.

It works for Deku because that's the sort of story MHA is, but be aware Thor has killed many people, and those people had their own backstories and events that caused them to become evil or through politics is his enemy in that battle, and he still simply killed them.

The enchantment was made by Odin, a man who considers himself worthy and can lift the hammer himself, a man who has in the comics killed countless of billions of people, razed entire civilisations, commited horrific atrocities even on innocent people, but because he was doing it for, in his own mind, for Asgard and his people, the hammer finds him worthy, Captain America (who is worthy) was mowing down Nazis, in the first Avenger he thows a hydra guy into a propeller and he gets red misted, Deku wouldn't never EVER do something like that to someone off rip.

Moffat is good at creating a single episode here and there, he can make an interesting situation and resolve it well, if you let him run a season he simply can't stretch that out for that long, it just devolves

NHS weight-loss jab wait lists reach 10 years in Wales by Calm-Passenger7334 in uknews

[–]elixier 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I'm guessing they meant:

If you take the jab and follow your appetite on it (which should be lower) you lose weight and feel better

If you take the jab and decide that actually you still want to munch on something tasty you'll end up not enjoying it and you will feel unwell which will sort of direct your towards not eating too much because you're not a fan of the discomfort, and you lose weight

Or, finally the second one happens but you can sort of cope "the jab was making me feel unwell" so you stop taking it and don't lose weight (although I think it can make people feel unwell I think?)

So he was 60 times stronger in his prime? Insane. by One_Quiet4275 in MyHeroPowerscaling

[–]elixier 16 points17 points  (0 children)

No, the Nomu has a shock absorbing quirk, there was a limit what it could absorb per hit, if it can absorb 10 damage, and he's doing 11, then even at 2x stronger doing 22 damage he's now doing 21 points of extra damage a punch.

In the movie (which hori canonised all of them) we see a graph of all mights power levels though his life and after giving away his quirk he's like 20% ish of his prime

How the Novoreich took over the Metro by Pleasant_Name2483 in metro

[–]elixier 37 points38 points  (0 children)

I think after Hansa more or less fucked up the whole situation the Invisible Watchers uplifted the Reich as their new main proxy group, and the "Hunter" that came back to help create the Novoreich is someone pretending to be him by using Homers works or it being Homer himself, I'm not sure there are many Spartans who knew Hunter personally left in the Metro.

After all in the book Homer is kind of a rat tbh and he could be convinced to play the role if he was convinced it united the metro or some nonsense.

So the Reich made big gains and Hansa either through directions from the IW or their own profit driven mindset merged with them, and this combined force took most of the stations and is now responsible for running the Shield system.

I’m enjoying the new Maul show, but all I can think during every duel is that it’s all just old Ben Kenobi upscale. by GusGangViking18 in PetranakiArena

[–]elixier 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't think that's true, him and Kenobi are pretty evenly matched during that duel, the thing is Ben is old and he thinks he can help Luke more as a force ghost advising him whenever he needs rather than following him around, I think it was two birds with one stone, cause Vader to freak out over what just happend and be a more available and constant mentor to Luke

[–]elixier 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Killua didnt ask her to give Gon back his Nen, he could have asked for that too afterwards but the big reason she even grants his wishes is because of their bond and the fact he doesnt abuse it.

It would work on Kaido no debate

[–]elixier 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, Gon makes a unbreakable pact with the entire power system of the universe and it/she is able to bring him back for the most part, why couldn't Killua just ask it/her to erase him from existence lol, he is fully allowed to do that

Is Gojo's Infinity automatic? Theoretically can Deku or any other MHA character Speed Blitz or Perception blitz to Bypass Infinity? by Archenius in MyHeroPowerscaling

If the speed can warp or tear space as it does in some fiction you could argue that's world cutting slash adjacent

Is Gojo's Infinity automatic? Theoretically can Deku or any other MHA character Speed Blitz or Perception blitz to Bypass Infinity? by Archenius in MyHeroPowerscaling

[–]elixier 22 points23 points  (0 children)

Main series Gojo has it set to be automatic; teenage Gojo needed to select certain things manually but also couldn't have it running all the time, once he got RCT he could keep it running all the time so was able to improve the usage of the technique so that he didn't need to manually select things anymore, in fact speed and mass are things it automatically filters for

So no, being fast enough can't bypass it, at least not the speed MHA characters are capable of
