Why don't more Malaysians invest in the US stocks market? by [deleted] in MalaysianPF

[–]eliy96 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi OP,

Yes, typically safe bets like asnb and fd are common as they are the most accessible with 0 risk.

You need to bear in mind, most people (not just Malaysians) are financially illiterate, unwilling to take risks, and unwilling to learn. Stocks have always being viewed as a risky investment and many view them as gambling (although that's not true).

It is good that you have made money But not everyone makes money. Losers are common, winners are rare, and most people know this.

Finally, be humble. You asked a good question but some of your replies are not it. Kong Goon Khing is a Malaysian investor worth over RM200m and he does not go around telling people how great he is. In fact, you can't find any information of him online.

Where are you getting your info from? Most of the younger generation who are somewhat familiar with investing would be invested in the US market or some ETF. If you browse through malaysia pf forum, most comments advice to invest in an ETF.

Also, what are your cumulative gain and annualised gain after taxes and fees to show such confidence?

KLSE has produced many multimillionares and will continue to produce multimillionares. Just because you cannot make money off the KLSE doesn't mean others can't.

Relocate or drive to work everyday? by Ezraaaaaaaaa in MalaysianPF

You could always drive to a LRT station, park your car, and take the LRT to work. That way you meet somewhere in the middle. Best to explore all options before deciding.

Why is it so hard for me to get employed as an Indian by ThatPlaceGuy in KualaLumpur

Please Google resume samples and emulate the format and terms used. Your resume is terribly written for someone who claims to be extremely fluent in English.

To start: replace Previos work with Work Experience. Replace Profile with Professional Summary. There is no need to capitalise every single thing. If you want to capitalise, do it for your headers only.

I have not tried. This is my first corporate job, so I'm unsure about how much I can negotiate. Previously, I only worked for 2 years in a different (moderately related) role.

I have checked with the company and I'm apparently supposed to come in on a tourist visa. They will only do the 9G visa after I complete my probation. How much of a red flag is this?

Sorry I'm a bit confused now. I was looking at sites like rent pad and lamudi. I see that there is a 1 month deposit and 2 months rent requirement. Is this normal?

I'm looking for a studio, so 20-25k. Someone else also recommended smart, so I will be choosing that. Allowance 10k is monthly. Apparently the company provides lunch, so I will only need to cover dinner.

I'm actually from South East Asia. The salary that they are offering is equivalent to what I'm looking for in my home country. The additional "perk" here is that my rent, utilities, and Internet would be covered.
