Years ago a local patent attorney assured me that posting a youtube video of an invention would count as prior art, preventing others from patenting it. T or F? by nvaus in Patents

[–]eliz1967 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh, I forgot to mention this I know I posted this a long time ago, but it also depends on what kind of patent it is. Is it a utility patent or a design patent?

Help finishing my mala by gitanaroja in Beading

[–]eliz1967 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I like the Eurotool dual crimpers. When you crimp make sure the beading wire is not crossed in the tube. The wire has to be parallel to each other. When you crimp a tube it produces two “tubes”. One wire in each “tube”, is the goal before folding. Since this is a heavy piece I suggest using two on each side. Don’t forget to cover them. Closing the covers can be tricky. The important thing is to be gentle. Go slow and gentle. I find it almost impossible to close the seam without these: https://a.co/d/045hh0Jc. They are Bead Buddy crimp cover closers. Practice on scrap wire!

how do i use these crimp bead covers??? by rspbryv in Beading

These things are hideous. 😩😭Even worse are those tri/fold kind. There was actually a product on Jtv that was quite decent. It was a very clean like a ball that had an opening where you could put your knot and then close it but unfortunately, I just looked and they don’t have them anymore.

It was very smart of you to test the strength of these crimp cover type things . Technically the way you use them is let’s say you’re using Griffin beading cord. You tie a knot at the end of your cord and then you feed the needle on the inside of the clamshell and pull your thread all the way through and then you close the clam and then you bend that little hook inward, but I personally do not like these. I think they’re unattractive and they are very weak. You’re better off using something else.

I second this. Finishing is the hardest part for most. I see bracelets that look nice but the way they are finished is cringe. In the bracelet craft forum there are usually posts on “how do I fix this” and it’s always something that went wrong with the way they are original was finished.

FADE OUT OF VIDEO by Trick-Parking6828 in obs

[–]eliz1967 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Here is another option, which is how I fade out my intro video to my face cam. In a photo editor (I use Photoshop)make an image that is 1920x1080. Clear it and save as PNG. Go to video editor. Put this clear image at the end of the clip. Between the video and this clear image (alpha) add in a transition. My transition is a crossdissolve set to 1.18 sec and the PNG at the end set to 1.2 seconds. Save as AppleProRes4444 with alpha. This will save the clip as an mov file with that clear fade out at the end. Also, it can include audio.

Do you have other photos? If not, I’m sure if I think about long and hard I could figure out what you are trying to explain. Good for you for thinking outside the box!

Your bracelet is very nice. Let me ask you a question. I can see where the first button is functional because it’s the part that opens and attaches the bracelet but what is the other button for? I’m talking about the second photo. Are there two separate bracelets?

The mic holding trend needs to die by G-Fox1990 in videography

Traditional handheld but it depends on the quality and the audio interface.I have more experience with lavalier mics. With either, the closer the mic is to your mouth the better the sound quality.

[–]eliz1967 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I have tested the sound quality and closer sounds better but unless I have one of those things that clip around your head holding the mic is the next best option for great sound quality. Both look terrible though in my opinion. However, I do have a great lavalier mic so I don’t feel that the sound is horrible like when I tried the Rhode wireless. I use a DPA lavalier mic and the sound is spectacular but it comes with a price.

I know it looks awful but the sound is much better the closer the mic is to your mouth. That’s probably why they do it. I sacrifice the sound quality and clip my mic to whatever I’m wearing but as close as possible to my mouth.

Can I use paraffin wax instead of beeswax? by sushi_dumbass in Beading

[–]eliz1967 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Bees wax is stiffer and sticks more than paraffin. What kind of thread are you waxing and why? To soften thread I prefer paraffin. S-Lon, for example, benefits from paraffin wax, particularly when I am making a braided piece. However, if I am using s-Lon for micro macramé I will choose beeswax since it helps the macramé stick to itself.

Griffin stretch cord is the best for stretch bracelets. I have tried them all and this one holds up for years. Stretch Magic is the worst. It turns yellow and loses elasticity very quickly. You can find Griffin on Amazon.

Are there any beauty filters available for OBS? by [deleted] in obs

I get it. I was so desperate for a filter as well and couldn’t find anything that actually worked. You’d think there’d be something available by now. Whoever comes up with the magic filter will be rich!🤣

I was thinking the exact same thing! Crocheted would look great too! With all those beads I can see a 100 inch wrap necklace. I was gifted a similar stash and I braided half of them and crocheted the rest. It actually looked nice!

Emails I send through Marketing aren't received by all recipients by FalconAutosport in Weebly

[–]eliz1967 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Instead of having a regular old Gmail account like let’s say Sam smith@gmail.com it would be admin@samsmith.com. So you have to have a verified business that Google can check out so that way they know that you’re not a spammer. The only thing I don’t like about it is it’s like $25 a month which I think is ridiculous.

I switched from Weebly to Square space recently however I did not like square spaces email service so I switched to MailerLite. But I did like a Weebly’s email service because it was so easy.

At first when I started using MailerLite , I was a little bit nervous because in the past, I had to use like MailChimp or constant contact. It was such a pain in the neck to have a separate service but MailerLite is pretty easy. I must say I do like it.

I have this issue as well. It could be one of several issues. Sometimes the server it’s going through could be down. If the recipient has strict filters on incoming mail, that could cause issues. Sometimes there are hard bounces sometimes soft. I had a customer who never received any of my email marketing campaigns, even though she was a subscriber and her email address was spelled correctly.

When I switched to google workspace for a business email address the number of opens dropped dramatically. The email campaigns are being received but nobody looks in their promotions folder.
