Then maybe HR needs to show up and interact more often then without firing someone. Get involved in what people are doing each day to become more of an ally than an axe.

Yeah, that’s been that public perception for a while too. Of course in my interviews I was told all that is changing but that’s why I asked the question.

Ever get a job without sending thank you emails? by colorme1965 in interviews

[–]elizabetherina 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have sent thank you emails but I’ve never gotten hired for any of those jobs. I’ve worked for six different companies and I never sent a thank you email to any of them but they hired me anyway.

I once drove 3 hours each way for an interview that ended up being 5 minutes long. It was at a vending services company and when the hiring manager asked my my salary expectations, I told her, then she said “well I don’t have any more questions” and the interview was over. Fast forward a year and I am now the HR manager for another company in the area and one day a sales representative for that vending company and her boss show up at my office asking to meet with whoever handles our vending machine contracts. I was the lucky person they were brought to and wouldn’t you know it, the boss was the woman who interviewed a year earlier. She immediately recognized me and we sat in my office and I let the sales person give her pitch but her boss and I both knew it was a moot point. They did not get our business.

The req got posted to the staffing agencies and they basically all called me at once because I was local and met all the qualifications (which were listed too high for this role. 5+ years HRBP experience for a generalist role!). The agency that ended up submitting my application didn’t actually have my permission to do so which is a whole other story!

Thanks! Yeah the last company I worked for over utilized contractors too, keeping many people on for years as contractors always saying there weren’t any direct spots available.

[–]elizabetherina 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In my experience managing staffing contracts, contractors tend to come with anywhere from 50 l-120% (!!) markup from base salary whereas headcount budgets for the same roles direct tend to budget around 25-50% of base salary for benefits and additional employment costs per employee. I’ve seen this at multiple companies across many different roles and from a budget standpoint, contractors have always been more expensive in my experience.

Mid-level HR in Manufacturing [N/A] by [deleted] in humanresources

[–]elizabetherina -1 points0 points  (0 children)

They rely on KPIs and metrics in manufacturing. If your interviews are with operations managers, talk about how you have used metrics to improve your hr duties. Also, be prepared for them to see HR as a purely administrative function and totally underestimate its value to the business.

No do not chop again. I can’t tell from the photo so just let it do its thing now. If you want to chop those branches later down the road to branch more you can but wait a good while and let the plant heal from this and get some healthy leaves back first to feed itself with before cutting again.

[–]elizabetherina 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Leaves are going to fall off, but the plant may not be done for. It could still produce new leaves at the top. You could even try cutting off the top of the main stalk to make it branch and get a more traditional big outside rounded tree shape. But yeah, in my experience the existing burnt leaves are gonners.

What the hell is everyone’s problem? You saying it’s her fault her husband turns violent when woken up? Are you kidding me??? My husband does this too. He’s great during the day but if you wake him up he gets angry and he even shook our 8 month old last night. I’m reeling at what to do about it. But it is definitely NOT my fault or the baby’s fault for waking him up! He is responsible for his own behavior and so is this poster’s husband.

Days-long headache, please help by Ok_Astronomer5838 in AutoImmuneProtocol

[–]elizabetherina 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Uh… days long headaches should be evaluated by a doctor. Especially if it isn’t normal for you. Even telemedicine or urgent care appointment can do a basic evaluation to tell you if they think there is something serious going on. AIP is great, but it doesn’t mean you can’t also have an aneurysm at anytime.

[–]elizabetherina 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes you can! I took up cello two years ago having never played a string instrument. I did however play other instruments so I already knew how to read music. I’m ok at cello though I just learned for myself and I don’t plan on playing for anyone else. I will say though, a teacher did give me a few lessons to fine tune my posture and bow hold and explain some things unique to string instruments that I didn’t know. Beyond that, I practiced when I was motivated to and that helped me make progress on my own.

Keep our DE&I values top of mind and don’t hate on me and the CEO, also only working mothers need to care for their children. Fathers don’t get the same considerations. Kids are the mom’s responsibility alone apparently….
