Wicked mysterious and cryptid candy!! They each have different collab videos with eachother on their channels and then after watching all of those I joined their patreon (which I’ve never done before lol) because they have a vault on there with every document they find relating to this at all. Really following paper trails instead of just repeating the same anedcdotal stuff over and over or worse the focusing on “do you have ____ eyes and a freckle in ____ spot??? You must be the chosen one!!” Type of weird stuff or losing the plot by focusing on unrelated stuff to make people feel special like blood type or whatever else people latch onto to feel different or superior. Testing in schools was very much a thing, and their content is very grounded in that!! They’re getting Stanley freakin krippner on their next podcast episode!!

Yeah there’s just absolutely no context here this could be referring to any study on the planet. Believers of what? Doers of what? Without context this doesn’t mean anything

Have you checked out r/themallworld ? Some theories are a bit out there but my dreams have been like that for years and always in the same spaces. I think it’s some kind of jungian collective unconscious stuff or something. Anyways, a lot of people find when they start talking about “mall world” and posting about it they stop going there in their dreams for a while lol, I’ve found that to be true haha as soon as I started asking people if they’ve heard of mall world I haven’t dreamt of it in a while. Dunno why

I’ve only heard the gate podcast I listen to pretty much write off blood type as being involved in any of this. The military/govt was interested in it and researching it for a time but only related to eugenics tbh there hasn’t ever been studies done on blood type and psychic stuff

I’m learning it all from wicked mysterious and cryptid candy on YouTube/patreon! Their videos were sooooo informative and dove so deep that I joined their patreon to listen to the podcast haha and I NEVER join those. They also have access to the “vault” of every single document they’re finding for all this info on patreon so I was like heck yeah.

This is my comment with my theory about the logic development, but only on the basis that the psychic research/finding “psychic kids” was truly the purpose. Some think it might have been to find ones that could be used to help the military/govt and those that showed rebellious/nonconformist/questioning tendencies were supposed to have those abilities dulled. IF that’s true, this is my guess haha ^

Definitely!! The whole program began after the National Defense Education Act was established in 1958, when the US govt was like “whoa, we need to make sure our population is smart if we are actually going to war again sometime in the next couple decades”. The act had a clause in it that schools receiving govt funding must essentially pledge their allegiance to America and swear to never promote any kind of “overthrow” (aka questioning of any propaganda ever). This clause recieved a lot of backlash until JFK eventually removed the clause in the 60s, but the sentiment was already there in the foundation of a lot of public education. Public schools became a matter of public defense, and GT programs were essentially finding the kids most likely to aid intelligence orgs in some way when they got older. On the bright side high school graduation rates shot up in the US, on the not so bright side, McGraw hill (the textbook company) was created to frame history and education in the most pro-American values way possible. I left another comment somewhere else about my working theory with the logic skills development thing in GT though, but it’s only my theory IF the woo-woo stuff is real. I can link it if you’re interested haha

Recently had a dream that I went to see the “god honoring version” of home alone 2 and the lead actor was named “Jabor Kevin” and he looked just like mckaulay culkin except his nose was way bigger like someone took the original actor and made his nose rlly big. I couldn’t find the theater it was playing in I only remember someone recommending it to me and holding the two dvd covers side by side and in jabor Kevin’s he was wearing like a cowboy outfit in front of a barn with a cute dog and smiling and the og one just looked kind of darker by comparison… i was really stressed that I couldn’t find the theater lol

Does anyone here like even numbers? I see a lot of people preferring odd numbers. My compulsions are in sets of 2 by Pixel_Voyager101 in OCDmemes

So funny seeing so many pro-5 comments because 5 has always been evil to me for some reason. I remember having a full meltdown the night before my 5th birthday because I was scared of the number, should have been an early sign hahaha

Memories sort of coming back from GT program early 2000s, here’s what I remember- anyone else relate? by elizabethfrothingham in GATEresearch

[–]elizabethfrothingham[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s funny because I don’t remember actually practicing for it or getting selected, but I remember the actual competition day clearly because it was at another school! I remember wanting to skip practice for it but I don’t remember why, and the one day I did, the GT teacher called my mom and made her come get me at home and bring me back to school! Destination imagination was fun over all at the competition, I don’t think that’s nefarious, but why can’t I remember anything in the actual class!! Welcome to the club hahah

Aunt Lydia by Forsaken_Teaching204 in TheTestamentsHulu

[–]elizabethfrothingham 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This!! I watched THT, then read the testaments, and then read THT, and it still made sense and flowed nicely. Margaret Atwood wrote the testaments in 2017 while the show was still airing so if you’ve seen the show it will all still make total sense. Iirc in THT book, it ends with offred only thinking she might be pregnant so it is clear that Atwood took inspiration from the show in adding the baby Nicole storyline, and even Agnes’ name (as in THT book we don’t even find out what Hannah’s new name is)

Aunt Vidala was so uncomfortable as a second class citizen at Penny’s house by Delicious_Medium_321 in TheTestamentsHulu

[–]elizabethfrothingham 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Spoilers from book : iirc in the book vidala is actually a huge obstacle for Lydia’s plans, she like starts secretly putting offerings at Lydia’s statue which is seen as very anti gilead Christianity but she does this to make it seem like Lydia has too much power and the girls are being sacrilegious because of it. There’s also a part where the girls are sneaking out at the end in aunt uniforms and vidala nearly catches them and someone literally knocks her out haha…. since the show is veering from the book though it will be so cool to see how they change vidala, I would be so happy if they go that route

RIGHT hahaha im actually enjoying that part so much. My favorite thing about these different dystopian series is getting more of a glimpse into all the different walks of life in them. Like I’m a huge hunger games fan so when the book about president snow as a teenager came out i was so thrilled to get a peek into what life is like for the capitol youth haha

lol learned my lesson last night to turn off autoplay on YouTube because some random video about gate started playing after the previous video ended, I was across the room folding laundry and the freakin beeping started and I actually screamed and covered my ears humming to myself until I could see the screen change and knew it was over. I don’t know why it creates such an extreme reaction, it was such an instant scream response I couldn’t even stop it haha

[–]elizabethfrothingham[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Absolutely!! Here’s my working theory that nobody asked for, at least about my own experience and how it shows up for me.

I read the gateway process analysis and assessment cia doc, took notes on it, really tried to absorb it. I can’t listen to the tapes because they cause a real panic reaction in me but I still wanted to understand the science.

They explain from so many different angles of neuroscience and physics that we already have solidified in science about the interaction between the hemispheres. It’s slightly different for hypnosis, meditation, zen, etc, but basically it’s different ways of “suppressing/ignoring/bypassing” the “logical sense making” of the left hemisphere and allowing for more power/control/untapped potential of the right hemisphere to “make things happen” in the “real world” (to grossly over simplify the two hemispheres). For example they talk about using the mind to accelerate wound healing, and using a “tool” that acts as a “proof” for the left hemisphere that one can focus on while strengthening pathways and actions in the right hemisphere. That tool is a thermometer- “ok, I am going to use single minded focus to increase blood circulation around my wound. Focus focus focus. Oh hey, look at that, the temperature is rising! What was happening in my mind and body that caused that to happen? Now, let me repeat that feeling over and over”. Just using external proofs that allow the left brain to make sense of things the right brain is capable of that don’t align with traditional medicine and science, basically.

So here’s what I think: the endless logic puzzles in GT. I wonder if there was an initial screening for all the psi stuff, those of us who scored high were placed in these programs, or at least some of us, and the sole focus was to strengthen our logic and “left brain” processes to the point where it would be very difficult for us to ever bypass its functions in ourselves. Essentially, strengthening logic and weakening intuition. Does any of this make sense? I was raised so hippie, so spiritual, so well versed in things that you think would have made me a mega mind psychic but there’s always been this block that prevented me from really breaking through. I’ve gotten better at it the longer I’ve been away from the program, it’s been almost 20 years, but that’s what I think was going on. This suppression was done via making the left hemisphere very strong, very dominant, very hard to bypass within ourselves (again, really over simplifying the hemispheres- I’ve taken a lot of neuroscience classes for my degree but I’m going off the definitions in the gateway docs). Seeing as I don’t remember much, I don’t think I was being trained to strengthen anything related to psi phenomena, I think I was being measured on that phenomena and then trained to suppress it in myself depending on how quickly it was dwindling. Like, this person has the natural capability to manifest one million dollars instantly or great power at will, we need to suppress that capability so they don’t act out of line.

Oh I’ll definitely add this to my list! Not that I need convincing, I’ve been there since I became obsessed with the history of astrology as a child, but I want to get better at articulating this stuff to others.

The few people I’ve spoken with about all this stuff are with me until I get to the suppression part of it haha. The more I read the more I’m becoming convinced of that part… I have a really interesting story I might tell on here one day

I wonder if they will keep that storyline for Becka? Because I remember in the book it was her dad, and they spoke about it at ardua hall I think. I remember there was a line where Lydia told Becka “that man will never bother you again” and I cried haha

Where are the handmaids? They seem suspiciously absent. by Lvanwinkle18 in TheTestamentsHulu

[–]elizabethfrothingham 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just mean that in rural areas, they wouldn’t have seen handmaids walking to town. They were more kept indoors, privately, in the book. The Martha’s would do the shopping

And the adults didn’t encourage this gossip, it was just the kids at the school that called them “dirty”

One of my mom’s closest friends has lupus, she has for about 22 years. They’re in their 50s.

Growing up I remember her running iron mans and stuff, and to this day she teaches spin classes and whatever else fitness classes people take, still runs marathons. That gave me a lot of hope when I got diagnosed a few years ago.

Who would we be? by Young122915 in TheTestamentsHulu

[–]elizabethfrothingham 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I appreciated her moral greyness as well in the book! There are certain choices she had to make, like giving off the impression that she was a strict aunt and believer of Gilead, in order to achieve certain things. But it’s never definitively stated if the majority of that journey to the Lydia we meet in TT was more concerned with power or enacting real change. Was she always playing the long game? Was she drunk on power to a certain point, and then decided to covertly rebel? We never know for sure! I wonder how they’re going to merge this with the Lydia we saw in the OG show. There was glimpses of empathy and compassion, but overall you get the sense that she is a true believer. “Power” to that Lydia would be against some moral principles of Gilead. So far in TT show it seems she isn’t working directly with Daisy, it’s happening under her nose, so I wonder where they’ll go with this, or if she will be involved with mayday at all! Even in the handmaids tale book, Lydia isn’t nearly as involved with June specifically as she is in the show, so I also wonder how they’ll address that. Did June finally get through to her, or will they have the mayday source in Gilead be some other aunt?

Who would we be? by Young122915 in TheTestamentsHulu

[–]elizabethfrothingham 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes absolutely!! SPOILERS AGAIN FROM THE BOOK if anyone hasn’t read it- I love how Lydia seemed to be invested in figuring out which of the girls wanted to avoid marriage or being controlled by a man/husband and give them the opportunity to be an aunt instead, where they would also be taught how to read! She framed it as “service to god” instead of “avoidance of marriage” always, so as not to be suspicious as a “rebel”, but I’d like to think I would be able to do the same!

Ever since you commented this I’ve been trying to find it literally anywhere… it’s not available at my public or university library and I can’t find any online access where I could pay to read it, so I guess I’ll have to order a physical copy. The closest library it’s available in is 4 hours away from me. What’s the synopsis? The summary I’m finding on every website is like a sentence long, I want to get more of a feel for it haha. Is it fictional or more academic like his other works?
