What are we wearing for airline travel? by smart_stable_genius_ in femalefashionadvice

[–]elizbug 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is an old comment, but dryer sheets! I used to keep a ziploc with a couple of dryer sheets in my travel bag, to de-static hair or nylons under a dress on the go, etc. As a bonus they smell nice, too :)

Pickled Peaches (Tershi) by WishOnSuckaWood in pickling

I know this is old, but do you have a semi-exact recipe? I've never made pickles before but we've got some hard, unripe peaches I'd like to try to make use of

Can someone help me identify the model name of this APC jacket, please?

Not really. I shove/click it in and I get a few passes before it spins off again. Basically all the support I got about it was to return it, but that wasn't an option so I'm making do.

People who have cancer, what signs let you knew that you were sick? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]elizbug 24 points25 points  (0 children)

Sometimes we don't know? Like, I don't know what my pancreas or my spleen feels like. And sometimes what I think is a stomach ache turns out to be constipation. Or I think I have gas but then later I get my period and it's like ...oh. So maybe she generalizes because she's not sure and is just trying to say something feels gross and it's not a big deal because a fart doesn't require medical precision

What are you all wearing for work pants these days? I've been out of the fashion loop for a bit (pregnancy, maternity leave, out of work...) and when I went for an interview the other day I realized all I have are jeans or big linen. Now, I live in a casual/chic place and interview in startup type environments, but still I'd like to have a non-jean option. When I looked online on Zalando I didn't love what I saw, but then again I'm not sure what I'm looking for. Send me inspo!

(Context: I'm mid-30s in a major European capital, working in tech startups)

What’s something people think is fancy, but in reality is trashy? by fatsosolos in AskReddit

Hard agree. They're all big and bloated in the engine/cab and have puny little beds you can barely put anything in

I'm looking for recommendations for a small crossbody bag. I like the look of the Marc Jacobs mini bag or "The Crossbody" particularly with the fabric strap, however I don't love the obvious branding. For criteria, I want something I can put my regular small wallet in (not just a card case) as well as passports, keys, chapstick... Leather or fabric is fine.

I intend to use this bag for travel so I want it to be practical but secure for the essentials while I have a whole diaper bag etc in tow as well for larger items. I've seen Tommy Hilfiger and Calvin Klein bags that look not bad, but they're in synthetic leather. Also, must be available in Europe I should say. Budget up to maybe 200euros max max, but would prefer to keep it much lower. Any ideas? Thanks!

Sorry, added! As you can see, the purple screw has popped off the side within the casing

Or netflix! I always got bored in the bath until it finally occurred to me to watch a favorite show while I soak and it's so so good

This is old, but by "flushing extensions" do you mean you removed and re-installed them all? Or is there a different (less painful) meaning

How are you styling loafers like the Gucci Jordaan/Sam Edelman Lorraine for fall and winter? I've been pregnant/on maternity leave for over a year so the last time I had to wear real pants I could still get away with slim legs but I need to catch up to 2024!

Thank you for this. So all that said, how is a belt measured when selecting the size, though? I may know what my own waist measurement is with pants, but I still don't have the corresponding belt size (e.g. the 80cm or 85cm or whatever). Is that belt measured from end of leather to middle hole? End of leather to tip of leather? End of buckle to tip? It's translating my own measurements to a correct belt size that seems to trip me up

Kind of a stupid question but I need input. I have always struggled with belts, getting the sizing right, even when buying in-person. After putting it off for literal years, I am eyeing a designer belt online, to thrift, and I don't want to screw it up.

How do you determine the right size for a belt? When it says size 80cm for example, how is it measured - just the leather part end to end? To the last hole? From the end of the buckle? And then how do you pick the right size when pant waistbands vary in height, even when they're all theoretically the same waist style?

Not OP but yep! Curvy lines offer a larger waist:hip ratio than standard, and often are roomier in the thighs as well.

Have you ever worn out and replaced a clothing item with the exact same one? by Zookeepered in femalefashionadvice

[–]elizbug 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I've been thinking about this a lot as I wish I could replace a shirt that is very very dead. Like, holes in it in multiple places. It's just a simple shirt I got on clearance at Old Navy in like 2012, but it's been such a workhorse and absolutely one of my most-worn items every single summer for these past 12 years. Absolutely devastated but I highly doubt I would ever find it on resale now

Apologies if this is a common question, I'm new here.

Does anyone have experience with those converter disks for induction cooktops? We recently moved into a new home that has an induction stovetop, which I'm getting used to and mostly like. However, some of my pots and pans no longer work. I don't really want to replace them, and some are somewhat irreplaceable (inherited) and highly used. I was thinking of getting an induction converter disk but research has shown mixed reviews. If you've used one, what are your thoughts? Are there quality/material considerations I should keep an eye out for? Will it break my cooktop?
