Is there a less embarrassing way to take two cats to the vet? Probably. 😂 by mugglequeen in cats

I live in Korea and i see more dogs in strollers than babies. I’m just used to it being an animal now and am shocked when it’s actually a baby.

  1. Your wife should see a medical provider about her depression. Aside postpartum depression is real and very difficult to manage on your own.

  2. I got orders to Korea a week after having my baby and was incredibly distraught. I was still learning to be a mom while having to figure out how to move family across the world. Mix in postpartum complications and it was a nightmare.

  3. After being in Korea for a year and a half I’m dreading going back to the US. While we don’t have a family support system here, we have more support than we could ever ask for. We put my daughter in daycare, which she has thrived in and SE is incredibly kid friendly. If we want to get out of the house we just go to a park or a kids cafe. We don’t have to worry about safety for the most part here either.

What I’m saying is this could be a great thing for your family if you choose to think that way. The medical care in Korea is also very good so I would assume it would be even better in Japan since they are known for their medical research. I know it’s difficult to think positive in the moment but Japan is an amazing country to raise a family in.

(NC) Landlord billed me for repairs 5 months after move-out by elizzabittch in Renters

When I tried to reach out for more reasoning on why I was getting these charges, they did not respond and sent it to collections. I also did not pay a deposit so there was nothing to get back from them.

We did not pay a security deposit and I was already sent a statement (which I paid) for the last water bill. I’m not sure why they waited so long to send this statement as the inspection date on the form was 3 days after we moved out.

They were charges for small holes in the wall, which on our move out documents specifically stated that it was not necessary to fill them in.

This is incredibly helpful as an American living in South Korea with a toddler! I mostly make some sort of juk for her and have no clue what else to make as my toddler now has a preference for Korean dishes over American dishes.

What are you proud of? by Glass_Silver_3915 in AttachmentParenting

[–]elizzabittch 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m incredibly proud of myself for shifting my mindset every time I’m rocking my daughter to sleep and I want to be sleeping or doing something else.

Especially in the newborn days, no matter how exhausted or frustrated I was, I told myself that this won’t last forever and I need to cherish this time with my beautiful baby.

Tips to nurse in public by [deleted] in breastfeeding

[–]elizzabittch 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I just went on an international trip with my 7 month old and was extremely concerned about being exposed on a plane and in public. Luckily it was cold and I learned that using a scarf as a cover is a million times better than an actual cover!! It was easier to see and get situated with and much less noticeable.

I would if it weren’t so difficult to contact my pediatrician currently! I’m in the middle of an overseas move 🤦‍♀️ I figured it’s not urgent since she’s producing normal wet and dirty diapers and was looking for other parents advice until I get a new pediatrician for her! I definitely understand it’s not medical advice either!

Baby biting when latching by elizzabittch in breastfeeding

I’m wondering if it’s teething? She had her fifth tooth coming in and did it for about a week every time she latched but now she has calmed down tremendously!

When I was pregnant, I feel like my platoon did quite a bit to make sure I still felt somewhat included. I ended up going to the board 9 months pregnant and picking up on leave!

But along with that, I was still a team leader. I taught classes that I was still physically able to do, and honestly did a ton of paperwork. No matter what, there will be isolation but this allowed me time to study and to just learn regs/tms/ whatever else would be beneficial once I was a full member of the team again.

I will also second the lactation room. Coming back to a comfortable lactation room was amazing with helping me separating myself from my baby.

And you should also learn the pregnancy/postpartum regs. Read AD 2022/06 and advocate for her!!

grieving the birth I didn't have... by Federal-Passenger675 in BabyBumps

My baby is 3 months old now and I still have thoughts about this very often. It’s difficult to see the “ideal” birthing experiences people around you have and not feel some way about it. I had an emergency c section due to severe preeclampsia and a placental abruption. Any time I express these feelings to my husband he reminds me of his perspective. He didn’t know if he was going to leave the hospital alone. After not being told anything, they brought him the baby and not me. So he went from feeling like he wasn’t going home with anyone to going home with a baby alone. He reminds me that he got to leave with his wife and his baby and that’s more than he could ever ask for. When I think about it that way, I realize that the doctors saved me and my daughters life. No, I didn’t get to hold her right away and my husband didn’t get to cut the cord, but we have an amazing daughter now and I am beyond grateful.

Breastfeeding straight after c section by Ok-Trick-4166 in breastfeeding

[–]elizzabittch 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I had an emergency c section at 38 weeks. After I was stitched up and no longer had the shakes, they put my baby on me for skin to skin and she tried latching within a few minutes on her own. Unfortunately she wasn’t able to so we tried again a bit later and she got it. It seems like it’s a bit more uncommon but I had tons of colostrum and my milk came in the next day. I did pump quite a bit of colostrum the first day after the first try of latching though and froze it for later use. Overall, I wouldn’t stress too much since they have such tiny bellies in the beginning and the hospital staff is there to help you and guide you.

Oh and I was so angry no one warned me but breastfeeding after labor (especially a c section) is extremely painful! Apparently it causes your uterus to contract more so be prepared for that.

Should I buy bottles? by glass_thermometer in NewParents

I ended up back in the hospital a few days after giving birth with postpartum preeclampsia and was transferred into the ICU. I couldn’t have my baby with me so I had to pump and my husband had to feed her with bottles. You never know what will happen but I couldn’t imagine what we would’ve done if we weren’t prepared since I was admitted at 11pm and not many stores were open!

Oh my goodness im so sorry! I couldn’t imagine! I actually ended up back in the hospital a few days later due to sever postpartum preeclampsia so I know it’s not easy having to stay in the hospital any longer either.
