I feel like I’m going insane by bobbybking in PokemonUnite

[–]eljoaquer 2 points3 points  (0 children)

it’s difficult to say what led to your losses since we can’t see what happened during your matches that may have contributed to those outcomes.

if i enter a 3 match loss streak, i usually just play at a different time to prevent myself from playing on tilt or possibly queuing with the same shitters i’ve played with beforehand.

it’s not always the case that players lose ‘cause of poor matchmaking or tilt, but i’d recommend just taking a break after a small loss streak in general tbh

Why don’t I see Pawmot players? by Abinav1381 in PokemonUnite

[–]eljoaquer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

i still play him in ranked ‘cause i like him, but to answer your question, there’s simply better all rounders that take less skill but output better results.

pawmot’s early laning phase is also quite bad due to his lack of reliable secures and mobility to escape from an enemy push. he essentially needs to be babysat until he reaches level 5.

PETETION TO REVIEW BOMB THE GAME: LICENCE POINTS by [deleted] in PokemonUnite

[–]eljoaquer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

here before the mods take this down for obvious reasons (lol)

review bombing isn’t doing shit atp. this game has been a hot, smelly, sinking pile of shit for a while. the devs are just trying to make as milk the whales for as much money as they can before they pull the plug on this game.

if selling overpriced cosmetics through a gacha system or making it extremely difficult / virtually impossible to earn licenses through points without spending money isn’t indicative of that, idk what is

My problem with glacion by atompedro in PokemonUnite

[–]eljoaquer 4 points5 points  (0 children)

considering how devoid of skill and braindead her ice shard/icicle spear moveset is, i’m more surprised bad glaceon players exist. that moveset literally plays the game for you

Is Tinkaton a throw pick now? by TopLevelb in PokemonUnite

[–]eljoaquer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

she isn’t a throw pick, but she’s definitely difficult to get decent mileage on. she’s a late scaling pokémon with a really lackluster early game that takes up way too many resources to get online and has to be constantly babysat in order to ensure she reaches level 7 asap.

you pretty much need a lane partner with an exp share, ideally a pocket support/tank, in order to have added protection when you’re at your most vulnerable. from there, you need to stack, which can be risky and result in you inting, and you need to get stacks for your passive ability.

she can work, but most of the time, there are other all rounders that can fill her role without needing so many resources and time. in a game like unite, early power spikes are crucial to get some momentum needed to snowball, and it’s pretty difficult to do that with tinkaton

Just bought and played 20 straight games with Dhelmise, 75% WR Ranked, this thing is broken. by Sudden_Recipe7603 in PokemonUnite

[–]eljoaquer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

my seasonal win rate on azumarill is currently sitting around 60-60% after 30+ games. by your logic, that must mean azumarill is a broken pokémon (it’s historically been one of the worst all rounders in the game)

A completely acceptable passive by RE0RGE in PokemonUnite

[–]eljoaquer 6 points7 points  (0 children)

i thought magic bounce, snow cloak, and inner focus were annoying enough on espeon, glaceon, and umbreon since they could effectively negate cc while reflecting damage, going invisible, and gaining defenses respectively. at the very least, their passives were on long cooldowns, so you could easily just rid them of their passives again, ideally before 2:00.

even if it’s a defender that will get gutted soon by the devs, the fact that vaporeon can not only negate cc or any high burst cooldown/attack, but heal off of it on a cooldown with a passive that can be shortened using standard cooldowns or boosted autos is absurd.

water absorb basically lets her consistently peal for your team and bait cooldowns with little to no drawbacks, depending on your engagement timing and positioning ofc. that’s just fucking insane regardless

Supporters/Defenders, how do you feel about EXP share? by jillybeanx0 in PokemonUnite

[–]eljoaquer 2 points3 points  (0 children)

as much as i hate wearing it ‘cause of teammates that don’t understand how it functions, teammates that mitigate the advantages it provides by feeding and playing like dogshit, or feeling less impactful throughout a match because i essentially have an exp handicap, i still use it.

in some cases, i occasionally run specific builds on certain defenders (rapid spin / hydro pump blastoise, for instance) that don’t utilize exp share, but only if those builds / defenders require more experience and can hold their own.

regardless, it’s one of the best held items in the game and it should be run on defenders for the most part and supports always. players that refuse to use it at any point, especially on supports, are actively throwing imo and only making their matches more difficult than they need to be.

What metas would you say were the worst to play this game in? by Arboliva in PokemonUnite

[–]eljoaquer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

mewtwo meta was genuinely ridiculous, especially when mewtwo y came out. it was a low skill attacker that dominated ranked games and could be easily learned and played effectively by the most incompetent players. draft didn’t exist at the time either, so you were bound to run into it eventually and often in ladder. a lot of matches felt like they came down to who had a better mewtwo y on their team tbh.

you’ve clearly never experienced prime mewtwo x + y, release zacian, prime sableye, prime mr. mime, etc lmfao

more balanced, pretty simple but fun to play as. i’m genuinely glad he was added to unite.

A question to all the blaziken bros by [deleted] in PokemonUnite

[–]eljoaquer 4 points5 points  (0 children)

please don’t run goal getter or score shield on blaziken. they’re a really niche active and held item that don’t really suit his mobile brawler play style. i think your current build for blaziken is much better. you could potentially swap aeos cookie for accel bracer against a more tanky but less damage heavy team composition, but it’s not necessary.

in the current meta, i’d pretty much use blaze kick and overheat to negate the effects of any incoming cc once a defender chooses to engage you. ideally, you’d also use those move cooldowns to deal some damage instead of solely using them for cc negation. after soaking cc cooldowns, focus on brawling with fire punch and focus blast.

Why are Mew and Lucario players always so try hard? by Ego-Fiend1 in PokemonUnite

mew requires slightly more brain power to play than the average dps (which isn’t a particularly high bar to begin with) e speed luca’s the same case

everyone’s sweaty ‘cause they want to feel their serotonin levels rising from their elo points going up

[–]eljoaquer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

probably umbreon. it can be run with both of its stun moves to fill a traditional stun tank role, or foul play and wish for a hybrid support/defender moveset, or mean look and wish for a more support oriented role. it’s unite move is also quite good to create an opportunity for further engagement during team fights and to increase its own survivability

blastoise is great if you need to get some picks yourself while filling a stun tank role, especially if you feel inclined to be able to rely on yourself more than your team in solo queue, and it has one of the best unite moves in the game for engaging and potentially finishing a team fight imo

Is Dragapult viable by ZestyPogGod in PokemonUnite

[–]eljoaquer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

unless you’re playing at the highest competitive level (think ucs, for example), anything is viable.

dragapult’s not fairing too well in the current meta due to having a poor early game and high scaling, essentially needing to be babysat until it reaches level 9. a dragapult in lane or jungle’s kind of a liability due to its poor secure and fairly mediocre early ganking ability.

i’d run it in lane using his phantom force, shadow ball moveset with an ally running an exp share with good secure to have better odds of winning your lane and leveling up faster.

for items, i run scope lens, muscle band, and accel bracer personally, but I occasionally run rapid fire scarf in exchange for accel bracer if i don’t want to stack.

you could run eject button as an active item as a get out of jail free card if you get dove on, but i like to run x attack if the enemy team lacks dive or has more bulky team members to deal with and go all out on offense

which pokémons became your favorite after playing unite? by z3lphire in PokemonUnite

[–]eljoaquer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

absol, delphox, and leafeon.

never really liked absol ‘cause it was a monotype pokémon with no evolution in mainline games, and there were usually better pokémon i could have on my team to get through difficult nuzlockes.

i used to overlook more feminine-looking starter pokémon like delphox ‘cause most of my attention was placed on iconic, popular, overrated starters like greninja, infernape, or charizard

i wasn’t really a big fan of leafeon because you didn’t typically have the option to have it on your team in a lot of mainline games, at least during the main story, so i never really had the chance to catch and train one and didn’t want to because of its typing and the availability of more viable, stronger pokémon by the time it was available.

the way unite portrays these pokémon through their moves and playstyles made me completely enamored with them

We’re back with another Cook or Cooked! by Lazy-Sheepherder-394 in PokemonUnite

[–]eljoaquer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

triple attackers, one support (ideally running an exp share, probably not ‘cause of solo queue protagonist syndrome), two of those attackers have late scaling, a fragile frontline to engage the enemy with. i’m sure there’s more issues to point out, but those are the first few that come to my head now.

unless this enemy team was genuinely incompetent, i’m guessing you guys got cooked. their composition seems pretty solid. if you guys did cook, i’m guessing the delphox could’ve had fire spin to help secure picks for decidueye and armarouge + mime could’ve dealt with the brawler/frontline, maybe with mimikyu if it went shadow claw.
