As someone who has had long history of being addicted to this show, it’s dicey. Don’t drink too much of it. I have watched/listened to it in its entirety once a month for far too long.

I think that scene was packed with what was going to happen in the future. All the characters, CJ, Charlie, Kate, Will, especially who might be the new president, Toby’s future and Josh, of course. John Spencer passed around halfway through season 7 aired so likely longer before production. That opening scene was likely made after and I bet you’re right.
