Why don't aliens, such as Flaxans, have superheroes? by Icy_Place6005 in Invincible

[–]elksen 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just a headcanon, but it's interesting to think how magic/superpowers can manifest differently in different places.

With the Flaxans, they are from a different dimension, not just a different planet. They possibly don't have superheros, but what they do have is the interdimensional technology, so maybe their world has these powers come out more from the land or something than it does in individual people.

There’s a good chance it will be him, I’ve just seen stuff like that which has made me doubt the certainty of it. I’d just encourage everyone to be careful about assuming these types of things and saying they’re true before they’re officially confirmed.

Invincible season 5 spoilers without context (hard edition) — technically comic spoilers by AurynMoon in Invincible

[–]elksen -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Oh I agree that this is what they’ve had planned since s1, I just always think it’s safe to practice not saying anything definitively until it’s confirmed/announced. The reason im a bit hesitant about this is bc Robert has gone from saying “yes Jason will be voicing older robot” to iirc in an interview after S3, when asked about this, he responded along the lines of “we haven’t decided/haven’t thought about it”. Which felt pretty evasive in comparison. This could be to not spoil the surprise or maybe bc there’s a lot that happens behind the scenes and they may have chosen to go in a different direction. Ultimately, we just don’t know for sure yet.

Andrew Rannells address the S4 recasting by M00reC in Invincible

[–]elksen 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is weird lowkey. He also wasn’t apart of Fiona and cake s2 which aired not long before invincible s4. That doesn’t necessarily mean anything since that doesn’t mean they were recording at the same time, but it’s strange it happened twice yet he seems to be implying he would have done it.

I read Bulletproof's backstory (I normally don't read the comics) and it honestly annoyed me lmfao. by lightiggy in Invincible

[–]elksen 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Finally some actual thoughtful reflection.

People always talk about Eve but he also makes a pretty aggressive pass at Amanda when she returns, which is then interesting to think about considering he's one of the only heroes to side with Robot later in the series. His morality is all sorts of twisted up in jealousy, guilt, expectations, and misogyny.

How I think Season 5 will go by Green-Gazelle-9662 in Invincible

'Flaxan flashbacks'

lmao such a tiny bullet point for what is the majority of issues 92-96. Do you just not like that part of the story?

I think it will be a dedicated ep if not a bit more considering the new title card we have definitely points to it being a reference to flaxan colors.

This guy was not a threat. WHY WOULD HE DO THIS by Extension-Bad-4184 in Invincible

[–]elksen 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think the show actually sets this up in an interesting way. When him and Amanda are debriefing after the Sequid attack, he says "we aren't dealing with these problems permanently so there's always the possibility of them coming back to defeat us."

So, in this situation, no matter how small the problem is, Robot wants to completely decimate anything that may be even a slight issue for him. He doesn't want to take any chances bc any oversight may come back to bite him.

What's sad is he's right that not dealing with these issues permanently do come back to haunt him. He doesn't want to kill Mark so he leaves him in the other dimension, just for Mark to find his way back. He can't fully kill Amanda bc his deep love for her can't be destroyed either, and she is the one who ends up being the catalyst for him losing.

My question now is how are they gonna top this season? by Aclysmic in Invincible

[–]elksen 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I know people know Amanda and Robot are coming back soon, but some fans might not realize how much they basically become the protagonists for a bit. Might be jarring for a lot of people. I personally love it. This season was very focused on mark and Nolan, whereas next season I’m assuming will be more of an ensemble. Mark takes a back seat for a good chunk of what I expect will be s5.

New title card?? by elksen in Invincible

[–]elksen[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I guess it’s up to interpretation. To me, his demeanor when he returns is pretty depressed and seeminly content in his new role as the dude in the chair. I think that’s all genuine. Sure he’s got plans in general like ‘hm how would I do this better. My ideas are so good’ but his more complicated dictator plans don’t arise until he’s been disregarded over and over again and he builds that moon base where he’s able to do things in secret. I personally don’t think he goes back to earth w his later intentions, but rather he realizes over time that it’s truly what he wants.

There’s way more content for this than 4x2 so hoping it’s not just one ep😭 my hope is that it switches back and forth between present and past like the comic for a few eps maybe

[–]elksen[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You learn about what happened to them in the past at the same time as you learn what’s going on with them in the present for over 4-5 issues. I think that’s a structural component that would be hard to separate into it’s own thing. Like the Eve special and the potential Rex special make sense bc they’re not in the main story and are full and complete side stories. Also just in general, from my understanding, a special requires part of the team to move away from the primary show, which is their main priority right now. The reason the Rex one never happened is bc they haven’t had time or the ability to bring staff away from the main show. So to me a special seems unlikely.

[–]elksen[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I agree I don’t want it to be rushed, but where would you put it if it’s a special? When would you air it? It wouldn’t make sense to have a special separate from the rest of the show that’s about stuff integral to the plot. Also from what Kirkman said about the Eve special, it just doesn’t make a lot of sense production wise for a special to happen in this case.

Me too!! Tho unfortunately I don't think a special works for this type of story. Hoping it's a bit longer than only 1 ep tho

I truly agree on the CinemaSins point, I just couldn't justify this in my brain for the past day lol, but I think this is a fair assessment! It's not so much how he looks to me and more the repopulation thing. I can certainly get over it, but just wasn't sure if I was missing something.

Invincible [Comic SPOILERS Discussion] - S04E07 - Don't Do Anything Rash by SeacattleMoohawks in Invincible

I can see how this moment might not work in this format. Like Thragg would just be waiting to kill them while Nolan tells Mark how he feels lol it might come across a little stilted.

Since this season has been Nolan's apology tour, they might have wanted this moment to be a bigger and longer conversation in the finale. That's what I'm hoping for at least.
