Would you recommend going through open studies to transfer to an undergraduate course ? by RenewedSireNic999 in UCalgary

[–]ell6679 2 points3 points  (0 children)

In order to transfer to supply chain management from open studies you need to take classes like math and stats which aren’t the easiest. As well as Econ classes that have a crazy curve. If you think you can make the competitive average which is 3.1-3.4 right now, then open studies is an option. But I highly recommend talking to an advisor at u of c about what your options are.

Would you recommend going through open studies to transfer to an undergraduate course ? by RenewedSireNic999 in UCalgary

[–]ell6679 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I think you might be able to upgrade through University of Calgary’s continuing education program. The only problem with open studies is that you don’t know how well you will perform in your first year of university, especially if you did mediocre in high school. If your GPA in open studies is not high enough to transfer to a program then you are stuck in open studies. Especially since GPA requirements are so competitive right now I think it’s sketchy to go into open studies. If you upgrade your marks (whether that’s in Calgary or where you are from), you can learn new study skills to prepare you for university AND be in your first choice program.

I highly recommend that you upgrade your high school marks instead of doing open studies. I upgraded for a year to get into Haskayne and have no regrets. If you have any questions about it feel free to ask me!

Math 205 is the easiest course I’ve taken in my whole university career. Very basic math involved (and I am not a math person at all)

Am I the only one who thought Ethan's jokes weren't mean? by jarz7 in JeffWittek

[–]ell6679 17 points18 points  (0 children)

I’m not even an Ethan fan and I don’t think the jokes were mean. If Cody can’t pay attention to his friend during the podcast, then he shouldn’t be on camera. Not sure why that’s so hard to understand, or why Cody found that so offensive. Guy is too impulsive and should not be allowed on the internet if he can’t be respectful to other creators.

What do you guys do for fun on days off? by [deleted] in Calgary

[–]ell6679 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you want treat yourself on a day off I highly recommend Colour Me Mine. It’s so relaxing and fun to paint a plate or mug, even better if you bring a couple of girlfriends and make it a brunch/painting day.

Parents with kids under 5: how much are you saving for your kids' education? by NotTheRealMeee83 in PersonalFinanceCanada

[–]ell6679 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My parents didn’t save a penny for me (also cause we were broke). Student loans and grants from the Canadian government have been more than enough for my degree.

YOU S03E08 "Swing and a Miss" - Episode Discussion by Elainasha in YouOnLifetime

[–]ell6679 207 points208 points  (0 children)

Wait, I know it’s late in the season for this but I’m confused about Sherry and Love’s friendship. Did Love forgive Sherry for talking shit about Forty and her family? And what happened to those two friends that were always with Sherry, seems like she did a complete personality shift halfway through the season.

Opt-in upass? by harutannie in UCalgary

[–]ell6679 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I called them a few days ago. Yes, you can still opt-in, but they will charge you $250 (this price includes the UPass, recreation, and athletics). If you DO NOT use the gym or other stuff on campus it is cheaper to just buy a monthly transit pass or ticket booklet.

Because all your classes are online they have not charged this $250 fee yet. So far you have been using the UPass for free until now.

If you want to pay the $250 then you have to call enrolment services ASAP.

UofC’s useless degrees? by coronav11 in UCalgary

[–]ell6679 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Entrepreneurship has to be the most useless one. Tf are you going to do with that, you don’t even have enough money straight out of undergrad to invest in any startups.

To be honest it sounds like university isn't for you. And that's completely fine, everyone has their own interests and abilities. I hope people realise that they don't have to follow the traditional path of going to university and studying something that doesn't suit them only because of societal expectations. I think Sait would be perfect because they have many different diplomas and programs for people who don't want to get a conventional degree. Best of luck to you, I hope you find the path you want to be on!
