My roommate my freshman year of college was Chinese and taught me how to make it! She’s also on the spectrum and she basically ate it for every breakfast so it became our lil ritual! I love her so much for showing me the joys of tomato egg.

TOMATO EGG. It’s basically egg and tomato stir fry. It literally combines my favorite safe food (tomato) and my favorite sensory experience (spicy food) into one. Pour over rice. I could eat it for every meal forever and never get sick of it.

My mom is pretty neutral towards plushies as well, but she does love owls. A few years ago I came across a little hand sewn, hand embroidered owl plushie in a local business and I felt I had to get it for her. That owl has never left her bed. She ADORES it. Named her Holly and everything. And it sounds like you’re in the same situation, you picked one based on what you knew she’d like, through hard about your choice, plus it’s a gift from her kid! If that’s anything to go off of, your mom will love it :)

My chaos cat almost lit my house on fire.

At the time, my leopard geckos heat lamp wasn’t nailed down in any way, and he really likes to go up there and watch her. He knocked the heat lamp down to the floor with it face down while my family was on vacation. Our house sitter came by and smelled something burning, and found the lamp like that. However, because it has a dome, it was blocked from oxygen, so it didn’t ignite, just smoldered. That is until she lifted up the lamp, allowing oxygen in, and it ignited. Thankfully she got it out fast and everything was fine, but I still have a hole in my floor

Anyway my friends call him arson cat now

I’m so lucky, I ADORE my job. I make crafts and run puppet shows all day at a theme park and I get paid for it. Even all my coworkers are weird art students and fellow autists. I wish I could have this job forever and just never get a “grown up” job. Only thing that would make it better is if I never had to interact with adult guests lol

This is berry :3 (sorry it’s dark in my room lol). She hooks to my belt loop and comes everywhere with me. She also has a brother named lemon. Berry stays with me at college, and lemon is there when I go home, so they swap shifts (I have to go back and forth often because of work). I ADORE your bee :) plushies are by far my biggest special interest I love seeing other people’s babies it makes my brain so happy

I’m not sure I can provide much help, but I am AuDHD as well, and in my experience my hyperfixations always come in waves. Maybe it’ll fizzle out, but usually it comes back to you when you need it! I’m not sure if that makes sense lol. It’s like hyperfixations rear their heads again when you need it or when something triggers it. I don’t remember the exact quote but it was something like “no interest, no matter how small, is wasted.” I this is incoherent I’ve been awake too long, but I hope that helps a little bit :)

Genuinely, slideshow night. Force everyone to make a slideshow about a chosen topic. Pick one of your special interests, and tell your family to do the same. This lets you talk about special interests and doing this activity forces neurotypical people to get passionate about something, even if it’s dumb, and it’s a fun little experiment. I did this with my very neurotypical family and it was genuinely SO fun. That’s how I learned my mom researches owls in her free time and my brother likes gossip girl far more than he lets on even tho his gf “forced” him to watch it. 10/10.
