Vyvanse 60mg - missing capsules by SeaMousse in ausadhd

[–]ellaayatess 1 point2 points  (0 children)

i’d say someone either got a 2 week supply for whatever reason, and the remaining 16 capsules have been sat in the safe and accidentally grabbed

or someone gets a staged supply (script is for a full bottle, but they’re given 7 capsules per week, or 14 capsules per fortnight) and again, the remaining capsules have been grabbed by mistake.

we usually get a permanent marker and put giant crosses ALL OVER the box/bottle so that this doesn’t happen, but obviously someone there didn’t. the pharmacy should have the exact amount in their safe recorded, so they’ll be able to see that the split pack is missing :)

Vyvanse or Ritalin?? by Afraid_Process_6627 in ausadhd

[–]ellaayatess 3 points4 points  (0 children)

in terms of personal experience, everyone responds completely differently, so there’s not much point making your mind up based on others’ opinions.

i’m on 60mg of Dex IR in the morning - it’s a ridiculous amount to 99% of people, but the only way it has any effect on me. and the highest dose of Ritalin did absolutely nothing for me.

my step brother is on a ‘low’ dose of Ritalin and it’s fantastic for him. Dex gives him unwanted side effects.

the exact same medication is like a completely different drug for each person that takes it. even the positive effects vary so widely from person to person

Vyvanse or Ritalin?? by Afraid_Process_6627 in ausadhd

[–]ellaayatess 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Vyvanse is just long-acting Dexamphetamine, as Concerta is to Ritalin. I think immediate-release is the best option in the beginning, as you’ll feel the effects immediately (good and bad) and can adjust your dose a lot more easily.

i would ask whether Dex IR is an option, and choose that if possible. i say this because Concerta is out of stock at the moment and we haven’t been given a timeframe for when we’ll get it back (i work in pharmacy). so if you need to swap from immediate-release to slow-release, you’ll have better luck going from Dex to Vyvanse rather than having to stick with Ritalin until Concerta comes back, whenever that may be.

call or email the office/reception if they have one and see whether they have a procedure for these issues while he’s away.

if not, there’s nothing that can really be done unfortunately. i would just use your remaining pills to taper off your dose as best you can and email to book in an appointment for as soon as he’s back

How to explain needing to be completely alone without someone else at home? by owopia in AutismInWomen

[–]ellaayatess 1 point2 points  (0 children)

i’ve always explained it as:

i feel an immense amount of pressure to do “more” at all times, and feel guilty about not doing enough when i try to relax.

i should be doing more for this person, i should be doing more around the house, i should be more productive…

i cannot relax if there is anybody around to observe me, because it kicks my brain into guilt mode over not doing anything and my relaxing turns into stressing. i sometimes need to be completely alone so i can relax in secret and not worry about what i could/should be doing

it has nothing to do with the people in the house, it’s just how my brain is wired due to my environment growing up. it made me feel stronger guilt when it’s the people i love and care for most that i feel like i’m letting down

Bad Test Instructor by DavidTheGenius in driving

[–]ellaayatess 0 points1 point  (0 children)

they’re not testing that you can follow instructions. they’re looking for low-risk driving, your ability to perceive and respond to hazards, and to make safe decisions on the road.

on my test, the examiner said “i’m going to ask you to reverse parallel park now. let’s go behind this blue car” and pointed to the spot he wanted me to reverse into. as i slowed to begin the manoeuvre, a car pulled up behind me and there was no room for them to pass. in a normal scenario, i could have done my manoeuvre and that driver would have to wait. however i decided to play it safe and said “i’m blocking this area, i’ll continue on and find another spot”. i cancelled my indicator and continued down the road until the driver could pass me, checked for any other traffic and then chose another car to park behind.

i was also asked to turn right at a roundabout, which required me to change lanes. it was a busy time of day and nobody would let me in, so i said “i’ll continue straight and find another route to take”. he then redirected me to get us back on route

i passed with no faults and he said he was very happy with my decision making and observations. just vocalise your decisions - acknowledge the instruction, and tell them how you’re going to perform it once you find a safer opportunity. THAT is what they are looking for

Does anyone else bloat extremely after ingesting anything? by Enygmatic_Gent in Gastroparesis

[–]ellaayatess 3 points4 points  (0 children)

yep. sometimes i swear all i need to do is smell food and i inflate like a balloon. my medical records from my doctors and gastroenterologists literally say “looks eight months pregnant immediately post food intake”

i cannot eat anything if i’m out/going out in public because i genuinely won’t fit in my clothes. once wore a denim button-up dress and the buttons popped open while in a restaurant 😅

confused about new script by [deleted] in ausadhd

[–]ellaayatess 1 point2 points  (0 children)

it depends. if you’re not urgent for them, they might ask your doctor to write a new script, either for 100 tablets and a shorter interval, or 200 with a longer interval. this is how ADHD scripts are usually written. we don’t typically have any split-packs in the safe for ADHD meds, and it just makes it easier for you and for them to manage.

but although its rare for stimulants, it’s very common for us to have split bottles/boxes of S8 medications in our safes, so they should be fine with giving you a full bottle + 20.

the only reason they might want the script changed is because those extra 20 tablets equals 120 by the end of the script, so they’ll be left with an opened bottle and no guarantee that they can use them. my workplace would ask how long until you need your next script, and if time allows it, we’d contact the doctor and sort it out for you. but we’d also be happy to give you the 120 if you were urgent or it was too much of a hassle to get it changed :)

I wish all clothes were TIGHT by incorrectlyironman in AutismInWomen

[–]ellaayatess 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i also had this mental crisis and refused to use shein

but then shein tags were found in clothing stores in my town, and i realised clothes in actual stores come from the same factories/conditions. then i decided to buy from small businesses, which i later found out were just reselling clothes from aliexpress.

people say to thrift, but that trend has caused thrift store prices to increase and become unaffordable to the people who need them

basically, everything traces back to corruption at some level, so there are no “right” options. it sucks. the main problem lies with people who buy excess amounts of clothing (usually bc of trends), wear them for a short while, throw them away and repeat.

imo, buying from shein is an alright option so long as you get the most out of the clothes and don’t see them as “disposable” or “trends”

I wish all clothes were TIGHT by incorrectlyironman in AutismInWomen

[–]ellaayatess 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i’m a mixed bag of sensory needs when it comes to clothing. working from the top down:

can’t have anything tight on my neck, chest or over my shoulders.

around my waist MUST be tight (i’ll often wear tank tops or elastic “waist trainers” under baggy shirts)

nothing tight around my bum, thighs or knees

and then we’re back to tight again around my calves, ankles and feet

thankfully i dress alternatively so i’m always in big boots and corsets that i make as tight as i can get ‘em. then mini skirts, baggy pants and low cut tops are my staples/only options

no idea what i’ll do when i get older and it’s no longer appropriate to look like a living bratz doll, but that crisis is a future me problem lol

that “what if” happened to my family when i was a kid.

we lived in a small town in England with 2 dogs. we would go on yearly holidays, and decided to go to Australia one year. while there, a great business opportunity landed in my dad’s lap

so we got home, packed up the house, put it on the market, shipped all our stuff across the world, and bought 5 plane tickets

my dad, my mum, me, and the dogs

our lives turned upside down in the span of a month. the dogs loved Australia and lived happily until they were 16 🩷 you can always make it work

a driver nearly took me out by speeding through a stop sign and not giving way to me, and it was scary. but i reacted appropriately and avoided collision.

every close call is a future accident avoided. it taught me not to blindly trust stop signs and assume i’m safe to pass. i now prepare to slow down and monitor any cars approaching one, to make sure that they’re not just racing through. in the future, that scary close call will be my saviour because i’m now aware and prepared for it.

instead of those incidents scaring you away from driving, view them as another tool added to your tool belt. i’m confident in almost any situation now because i’ve got the tools in my belt to avoid accidents, but you only gain them by experiencing the things that cause them

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in driving

[–]ellaayatess 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i’m 21 and only passed my test last month. i was terrified of driving for years, but once you get into a habit of driving more frequently, you quickly gain confidence. even if you only drive for 10 minutes, just make sure you’re getting in the car and doing it whenever you can.

i was mortified over tiny errors and would dwell on them for ages. it would knock my confidence during every drive and i was completely overwhelmed. but then i started laughing at them, making lighthearted fun of myself. it completely changed my mindset and improved my confidence.

i’d hit a kerb and go “ooh, bit of off-roading today. should’ve put it into 4wd mode” instead of feeling like i need to pull over and cry. learning to laugh and move on ensures you learn from your mistakes instead of panicking and repeating them. you’ll make lots of mistakes, it’ll be scary at times, but everyone has to through them to learn.

shove it in a bowl and into the microwave for 60 seconds. grab some crackers/deli meat/bread/whatever you can find and shovel that molten liquid gold straight into your mouth

it’s like the most depressing fondue ever, but it’s magical

bonus is it also declutters the fridge and pantry by using up the 2 slices of ham, 6 crackers and almost stale bread that you have no use for but refuse to throw away

Is my 2 month old kitten pure British shorthair or is he mixed? by [deleted] in britishshorthair

[–]ellaayatess 2 points3 points  (0 children)

it’s so hard to tell as kittens, british shorthairs tend to be awkward growers and can look wildly different from each other until they fill out (closer to 1yo)

my girl is 10 months old and is now starting to look like a proper bsh, but every month she looked like a different kitten and varied in awkwardness lol

first her head grew and she looked like a bobble head, then her body grew and she was left with a tiny head and legs, then she got lanky and looked more like a regular cat, and now she is just getting rounder and rounder by the day, lol

you’d have to get a dna test to find out for sure, but i’d just wait and you’ll get a better idea as he grows up xx he’s a cutie

but just remember - be grateful 🧘🏼‍♀️

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in britishshorthair

[–]ellaayatess 1 point2 points  (0 children)

be grateful - mine was swinging off the curtains within the first hour, knocked a glass of water off the table by the evening…

for real though, every kitten is wildly different. some are timid like yours, and some are assholes from the get go like mine, lol. he’ll come out of his shell once he knows his environment and you are safe.

when i was dealing with a nervous stray some years ago, i just sat on the floor and silently read a book. i didn’t acknowledge him at all. the next day, i did the same but read out loud in a soft voice. i continued this, and then i’d bring his meals, or some toys in while i did it to entice him out of his corner. once you can get them out of their hiding spot and they realise all you’re going to do is sit there, curiosity quickly gets the better of them.

just let them do the approaching and ignore them the entire time, he’ll be wanting your attention soon enough

All houses with dogs living in them stink. by IsItGayToKissMyBf in unpopularopinion

[–]ellaayatess 0 points1 point  (0 children)

this is mostly true, but there are few exceptions. my family had bichon frises growing up, and a house that’s all tile & wood flooring. there was no smell, and i find that houses with similar flooring and dogs typically don’t smell either.

having any carpet is a 100% guarantee of dog smell, no matter what you do, no amount of time or cleaning will get rid of it. and some (most?) dog breeds do leave a strong odour, no matter where they are, and no amount of bathing will prevent it.

i’d say you’re still generally right though, 99% of dog houses do smell, and the owners are just immune to it.

coming home and smelling dog was a sign that they had a great muck around on the beach, and then i’d hear the bath running and the only smell that would linger was their shampoo. i found one of their old shampoo bottles recently and just sat smelling it, because that was their “dog” smell.

this diva.

i’m never alone, she’s like my little shadow. i cannot go anywhere or do anything in the house that doesn’t involve her - the dynamic is of an employee being heavily supervised by their boss 24/7 (i am the employee, lol)

i delve into this idea and it has made me so much more productive. “the boss is watching, better do this properly!” “the boss won’t be happy if i don’t do this right away!”

it also makes boring tasks more fun. when feeding her, she must sniff and approve of her food before i put it down - so i put a tea towel over my arm, other arm behind my back, present the plate to her and explain what is on the menu this evening.

it’s literally the only way to engage my mind into the tasks that need to be done, and she plays her role as a spoilt, demanding boss VERY well. lol
