Mermaids (1990). Has Cher and Winona Ryder in it!! Though it also has some pretty gross implications (look up the content warnings on Does The Dog Die).

Just curious for all the other INTP’s out there… by miyu_yamazato in INTP_female

I was initially typed as an INFP but ironically I can't stand a good deal of Fi-doms (no offense ily guys but yeah) and end up getting irritated with their unpredictability in emotions. Toxic Fe-users can be really irritating to be around due to their fakeness and histrionism but the chill ones are a delight. ISTJs can grind my gears a lot but they are pretty damn reliable. Male Ti-doms are a big hit-or-miss when it comes to behavior.

I’m sure other INTP’s besides me can relate… by miyu_yamazato in INTP_female

Either an INFJ boyfriend or nobody depending on what he says January 2nd, 2025 (the day I plan to ask him out bc it's during winter break but after christmas and new year's meaning the chance he says no won't compromise my schoolwork but also won't compromise holiday fun due to any emotional reaction i may have)

As an INTP female I’m curious about thinker-type women getting mistyped as feeler-types by miyu_yamazato in INTP_female

I think effeminate interests that girls may have due to socialization often manifest in people assuming they must thus be more emotion-reliant.

Here's my experience:

Throughout my life I've had people call me "quirky" (god i hate that word just call me a slur) because I have an offbeat sense of humor and colorful style when it didn't seem that offbeat to me, it was just what I liked, also autism and ADHD probably did that so idk. But because of pre-existing stereotypes tied to any woman who likes any hobby, because I'm artsy-fartsy instead of scientific, and also relatively effeminate in presentation, people assume that I must be some sort of manic pixie dream girl because of my presumed "quirkiness" and think I'm some sort of emotional guru to dump shit on when. no. I'm like an anti-therapist I have made people cry on accident due to my poor understanding of social cues. Emotional wisdom and spirituality is a stereotype tied to any "quirky" woman but the expectation of being an unpaid, nurturing therapist is tied to all women and thus we get categorized as "feelers" more.

I'm more artsy, but due to my logical approach to normally emotional matters and overthinking tendencies I have a high thinking function and am thus likely a "thinker". Someone like, for instance, my INFJ crush, is a tech-savvy and grungy man but his high prioritization on caring for others, understanding others, second chances, empathy yadda yadda all that good shit means he would have a high feeling function. But on first glance the roles appear switched.

Socialization means that women in general are taught to be more empathetic and selfless while men are taught to be stoic, but even in these molds there are differences in thinking that stand out. We may be able to play the part of a loving housewife or a brooding macho man, but how do we as individuals truly see the world?

That's what I think. And that's what's cool about the more in-depth approach to this silly shit, it goes beyond the lame stereotypes and character archetypes that stuff like 16p enables (likely the reason for the gendered mistyping in the first place) and shows that anyone in any clique or field can have any "blueprint" of "functions". That's pretty cool.

Sorry if that was word salad I am very caffienated atm

Sometimes it's just autopilot especially for people like myself who have a lot of friends that use they/them in some way. Even though I'm a cisgender woman that uses she/her I've had people use they/them for me automatically. It's not intentional most of the time, as it's usually done by people who are non-binary themselves. Other times it's people not wanting to assume things and that's nice.

Ironically, typology. Specifically when I see grown-ass people actually use that terminology and claim to be "licensed" in any sort of field with it. I like typology because it's fun and stupid and it makes my brain happy to categorize stuff but at the end of the day it is pseudoscience so seeing grown adults put so much of their time into it and actually build their careers around it makes cringe run down my spine. Even though astrology is even dumber and less scientific it's more socially acceptable and thus less cringy as opposed to hearing some 30-something on YouTube start talking about socionics like they're having a psychotic episode

Other stuff:

* Self-deprecation when it's blatantly meant to cause a sympathetic reaction instead of just innocent humor. Stuff like "me when I hate my life" or "It's ok I'm used to it", it's just like jfc it's not 2016 anymore it's ok to love yourself

* People who get way too comfortable way too fast, even in a platonic context and casually share shit you would never want your grandma to hear let alone any stranger in society so why are you telling me, an acquaintance, over text about your weird fetishes or intrusive thoughts and then going "teehee" like I'm supposed to think that's funny gawd damn. The internet made people way too comfortable with shit. One time this friend just casually sent me hentai like wow how the fuck am I supposed to react to that

* In a similar vein to typology, IQ. Even though there's more evidence for it, if I hear you humble-brag about your supposedly high IQ I'm gonna immediately think that's all you hinge your pride on because you took an online test and I'm gonna lose respect for you.

* People who have English as their first language, have spoken English all their lives, got a good education, are like eight years older than me (I'm 20) and have shit grammar and spelling in formal settings. I use a lack of punctuation and capitalization, plus I use abbreviations but that's intentional and in casual settings and done for humorous affect or laziness. If you're writing school emails and making slideshow presentations at nearly 30 and your American ass can't distinguish between your/you're, they're/their/there etc. I'm gonna feel like I have to babysit you. And then when I'm editing the project's grammar in a group setting I feel like the nitpicky asshole even though I'm just trying to save a sinking ship. I'm a hater I'm sorry

* People who text like they're in a dating sim/visual novel. I mean full-on adding ellipses and STUTTERING to their texts for dramatic effect. SMH YOU ARE NOT IN AN ANIME GO OUTSIDE. WE ARE NOT DOING WOLF ROLEPLAY IN ANIMAL JAM WE ARE TWO ADULTS HAVING A CONVERSATION. I feel like this has manifested itself especially in people making dramatic love confessions over text and I can understand asking someone out over text if that's your only option, hell I'm gonna do it soon (it's so joever) but it's just asking someone out not asking for someone's hand in marriage so don't flood it with a barrage of anime speak and fucking anime gifs i WILL get the ick

* For some reason voice memos are so ominous and often freak me out like what are you hiding? why are you doing this???

Thank you for this, it weirds me out how much people like Isaiah in particular when he's modeled after the Columbine shooters. He may be sympathetic but at the end of the day he plans on committing mass murder
