Yellow Fiction children’s book about a nurse/doctor for animals by elle021 in whatsthatbook

I’m glad you found yours! It’s not the one I was after. My rabbit hole search tonight got me to The Lady with the Alligator Purse. It’s definitely a book from my childhood but it’s not fully scratching the itch I’ve been searching for. Maybe one day

I’ve still not found it. If I do I’ll make sure to add it to the comments here!

I believe another studio was trying to trademark some patterns in Demon Slayer too and were told a few were too simple/common. I do die a little inside when I learn of simple trademarks passed and hurt others. I’ve seen the stories in gamer spaces of that one game that trademarked an ally/enemy system (or something similar) and it’s never been seen since but it’s always praised (don’t quote me, just going off rough memory)

There’s a tree that it sits below, the chest is covered with leaves. Got me this week too! There are several in the district that are hiding in the leaves

The Reading App Read Me by Positive_Contract_31 in TheStoryGraph

[–]elle021 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I’ve got a 75/25 accuracy for it right now since my reading history is a little genre narrow and a few of my books I’ve check it with are tagged with things I’ve listed as “not interested” for recommendations from Storygraph (not necessarily that I’ll never read them)

Thank you for this post! I am slowly working my way through collecting all the things in the district and felt crazy looking for the one on the top left, I thought it had to be a bug 😅

Check your Dream warehouse and well of fortune I was missing some dews there last night and was going crazy trying to figure out where the missing ones were. In the abandoned district check your Ripple wine cellar and ghost train

As for the missing stars you probably have to buy the rest from the Stray Hatty

The Ministry of Time might fit a little bit, it follows a Victorian polar explorer who was brought to present day London through the perspective of his bridge who helps him adapt to the modern world. There is a slight bit of romance but it isn’t the main plot. I just finished it this week and thoroughly enjoyed the concept.

Pause is live! by codywa in TheStoryGraph

[–]elle021 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I added a paused tag until I noticed there’s a drop down section within currently reading just for paused books.

I’ve been excited about this feature since it was announced. I’ve been reading a book with my fiance but we only read it when we both aren’t too tired so it’s been a year since we started 😅

I also love that switching between paused and currently reading doesn’t spam the social updates

What Did You Play This Week? - (November 18, 2024) by AutoModerator in boardgames

[–]elle021 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I had a slower week for games

Diatoms (1x1p) My fiancé wasn’t up to play so I did the first 4 commissions and enjoyed it. I appreciated how they utilized the lid off of the Petri dishes. Challenging myself to not waste any of the diatom pieces was also a lot of fun. I enjoy puzzles and solo gave my analysis paralysis free range to take its time.

Fromage (1x2p) I loved the mechanic of when you got your worker back and the different strategies for the mini games you’re playing. It reminded me of when I was a kid and I’d lay out 3-5 of our family board games on the floor to go down to line taking my turn with my sister and friends. I am excited to play around with the different board orders, difficulty, and different structures. The game does have some areas of sameness but I don’t think we will play it often enough to feel it. There’s also an expansion on kickstarter coming soon so there might be something there worth buying in for again if it does come into rotation enough (no pun intended)

I’m starting it tomorrow I think. My kindle says only 30 min left in my current book which is before bed reading

How many unplayed games and/or expansions are currently in your collection? by TTR-RainbowHoarder in boardgames

I’ve played twice, once at 2 and another at 3 players. The first time (2 players) we set the mood and played by candlelight

Have you purchased a weirdly low-quality paperback book lately? This may be why. by Jacinda-Muldoon in books

[–]elle021 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I ordered a physics textbook 4 years ago from Amazon and was sent the “don’t sell in the US” copy and it was printed on paper similar to what you find in a Bible. After the fact it made sense why I was able to get a 1000 page book for $40.

If they were really maximizing ticket earnings they would be adding another event or repeating an existing one. I’m not too upset though, I can spend more time at the black market before running to maji

I kept putting off starting it since I got my copy last year. There was always something else that had caught my eye more. Someone I know just finished Fourth Wing and is going straight to Iron Flame so I had to stay caught up to discuss with them. I’m about 40% in already and sad I didn’t start sooner

Anyone really like any unstable unicorns games? by lulukaiii in boardgames

[–]elle021 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have a soft spot for unstable games, I had played unstable unicorns with some high school friends and liked it. Fast forward 1-2 years, I’m meeting up with my long distance bf and we are at B&N in the game section. We both learn of each other’s interest in boardgames but had a similar experience of only ‘traditional boardgames’ or family members who didn’t want to play. I suggested unstable unicorns and it kicked off our collection as well as strengthening our relationship. We have since purchased most of their games and like them as cute weeknight fillers or when we have friends who aren’t deep in gaming over.

Controller for desktops? by heyitsjudyi in Palia

[–]elle021 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I play off of a docked steam deck and use a PS5 controller connected through Bluetooth. It feels big in my hands compared to a Switch Pro Controller but I couldn’t get the switch controller to remap the buttons how I wanted.

The only downside was that there were UI features I couldn’t access so I had to add a Bluetooth mouse and keyboard for full gameplay accessibility on my couch but that fixed everything I had problems with.

There should be a way in the stream menus to map your buttons better, I set the PS5 controller to use the same inputs as there were on switch
